I have been trying to access EMU Movies and Hyperspins websites all day. But keep getting an error. Can someone please try both of them and let me know if they work or not for you.
Thanks,
Umpa

Yeah, I've been checking Hyperspins site all day too. Had the same problem one evening last week and I guess their web host was having problems. Looks like they continue.
-
Thanks for responding. Juast wanted to ensure I wasn't the only one with problems.
Thanks again
-
On behalf of HyperSpin and Emumovies we apologize for the recent down times. Last week our host had a major outage which took the servers out for a little while. Right now our server is being upgraded with more ram and larger hard drives. According to our host it should be back up sometime this evening.
-
I bet that means the new release will be out real sooon:)

No, still a little bit away, but not much. We are putting finishing touches on the Genre system, FTP, and Downloads sections. I think we found a couple small bugs in the last test version that Bill wants to get fixed as well. Noting is set in stone yet because we keep finding these annoying bugs every now and then. But my guess is about a week or so we should have the new release.
-
Website still down att. Having withdraws.
-
that's a pretty good stretch though- from the host having a server upgrade to the new release :D
I just wanna say, what's up with our host? we seem to have like a day of downtime every month.
-
I must say I was guessing that the new ver was coming and that was the reason why the sites are down..
oh well
:lol

Ya I was hoping that too. I've been checking the site like every ten minutes since yesterday

We were told that there was a memory leak, but they were having problems finding it. This last downtime they found that it was the RAID controller that was causing the memory leak. It was supposed to be back up by now, but looks like they are still having difficulties or the data transfers are taking longer than it should.
-
Thanks for the info Dazz. Sucks the websites are still down!
-
Thought I should pop in and give another update. We are still down with another eta of this evening, when the raid controller started going it took cpanel with it. All data was recovered but cpanel was trashed. They are still working on getting the databases working again, I am hoping for 100% and we have a 3rd backup going into place to hopefully keep this from happening again. Good news is I have been very busy in the meantime and should have some new goodies when emumovies comes back up or shortly thereafter. Also my email is down as well until the site comes back up, i will check back here regularly and respond to pm's and posts.
-
I don't know if we've got a deal or something with this webhost- but they seem to be pretty crappy. Also, I'm not a hardware expert- but I've never heard of a device causing a memory leak: unless they actually mean it was the raid controller driver. And a failed controller shouldn't trash data...
just sayin' :badmood:
-
Any news of when the site is going to be back up SophT. I am currently off work sick at the moment and have nothing better to do than look at Hyperspin and its down...haha. Kind of going insane.

+1 on that brother...+1 :banghead:

I'm hoping when....IF...it comes back on line there is a Shiny New Release on it. :applaud:

Not going to happen... with the site down, I can't do what I need to with the downloads section to get everything ready. On the other hand with the site down, BBB has made major progress with the release. I think we are doing some final packaging and making sure that everything that needs to be is in the final download package. Circo just sent in an updated main menu video set, which all look incredible and very nicely done. Documentation has also made some major headway and needs to be added to the new site.
Much headway has been made with the site being down, but when the site comes back up the new site and release will not be quite ready yet. We are however extremely close though.
-
I would suggest to move to another hoster. Yours seems not really serious.
-
Oh man, what luck! :) I've had a bad hard drive in my cabinet that I've neglected to fix for about six months now. I finally get in there and rip it apart and get it replaced, and poor Hyperspin-fe and emumovies are broke too. Oh well, I feel your pain guys! Do what you gotta do, and I hope to see you all back up and running soon.
-
Thanks for the info dazz, checking every hour if the site is online :banghead: well we just have to wait
-
What a weekend to decide to finish my setup. Here I was thinking I'd be able to get everything done and the sites down :( Oh well. I hope you guys don't have any permanent data loss. Good luck with getting it back online. I'll be over in my corner hitting refresh on the hyperspin page every 5 minutes.
-
Looks like they are both still out
so what the this web host excuse this time

Have to agree here, saying "memory leak of the raid controller" sounds like some techno mumbo jumbo they just made up. To a programmer it sounds like nonsense! It's funny when IT guys try to pull the wool over my eyes with crap like this, I just come back with a question like "do you mean the raid controller driver?" and then there is silence while they think "oh ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- this guy knows what I'm talking about" lol
-
Yes what is happerning to Hyperspins server really?!?
I literally paid my money to become a gold member and then havent been able to access the website since!
Feeling a bit robbed atm. :(
Is there anyway to contact anyone from the team or whats going on?
:dunno
-
Its not the teams fault, its the host. They are having major problems at the moment, FTP is kind of useless at the moment, as when the new Hyperspin is released the themes will need to be re-downloaded. I am just still waiting on the computer chair for the site to come back up.
Btw the new clip looks awesome.

I am a team member. I am sorry you are feeling robbed, the site is down for everybody. I have been in touch with BBB and we have a status log regarding what is going on. We all want to see the site and FTP back up.
The good new is alot is going on with the new build, since the forums are down it give us more time to work on the new release. You guys wont be dissapointed.

I am a server admin for over 30 companies and I have seen a raid controller go down and take the data with it, just saying it can happen
there is also a chance that the raid controller can have a memory leak, although this hard to diagnose on a hardware raid controller, the reason that it is hard is because it will be working fine for a bit and then go off on a mad one for no reason, depending on the diagnostic ability of the raid controller itself it may not be apparent what is going on.
now that being said if the server is dell or HP then the parts are easily obtainable and if the server is under warranty then next day delivery mon-fri is standard.
so I think that it went down on fri ? they should have got the parts today and it should be up in 5-6 hrs (dependent on drives state rebuilding of the array speed )
but if the data was buggered in some way then the array needs to be rebuilt from scratch, the os needs to put back on and then the site and then its data froma backup (big ass job )
Have been there done that got the tee-shirt
so I think that we all need to be patient and just chill whilst it gets sorted
not to say that I am not missing the sites and checking them every min
last but not least I am not trying to be a big head and say thats what's going on and not trying to offend anyone it just my thoughts on the matter :soapbox:
besides it seems like the guys (bbb and dazz) are cracking on with the new ver anyways, so this maybe a blessing in getting the new ver sooner
heres hopping anyways :)

All the rezipped themes are on the FTP, Just not available for all yet. It is super easy to grab them. Also the installer for the new HS is upward 330mb and includes all main menu themes, sub menu themes, sounds, videos etc..
What you will need to download are the re-zipped themes and move your FLV's from emumovies into the appropriate folder.
You will be better off moving the stuff over manually, things have been moved and renamed, simply copying and overwriting will not cut it and will more than likely render your new install useless.
Think of it as a fresh start rather than an upgrade. This is a major release. While the site was up I know ther were some teaser videos around, I assure you it is much better now. I don't want to give away too much.
-
That sounds good brian, I cannot wait to the site is up. Keep up the great work over there.
Also I am guessing the new version will be up in a few days.

Well, time has proven that setting dates for HS releases is always a curse because they are never ready. If I were to be as bold to say BBB is on vacation for two weeks and is dedicating his free time to knock it out before real life kicks back into effect.
So it will not be magically on the site when it comes back up, but should be ready really soon. I know users are working really hard on the documentation, I know there is much work to be done on the site and ftp. My guess is the program will be ready before the documentation and site. Other members are working on other cool stuff I just cannot mention.
So soon is the best answer I can give, yet it may change.
-
That sounds brilliant. As long as by soon it doesn't mean in a month or two, cause I am dieing here waiting on a new release.
-
Sounds great, Brian (and Dazz). And thanks for keeping everyone posted and for the updates on the outage - we appreciate it! :applaud:
-
To be clear it wasn't necessarily a memory leak, more of a process trying to correct the error that was maxing out the cpu. I just got off the phone with the host and we are getting close, but there may be a few bugs (of course) as we come back up. It really is a shame but we are taking some additional steps to ensure this doesn't happen again, or if it does not for as long.
-
New server is online although file transfers are still in progress at the host, emumovies forums are not up yet but the main page is back. I will keep you guys posted.
-
Circo, good to hear. I guess that Hyperspin will be up shortly after?

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@hyperspin-fe.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
on my browser it says 500 internal server error
-
404: page not found
10.5 Server Error 5xx
Response status codes beginning with the digit "5" indicate cases in
which the server is aware that it has erred or is incapable of
performing the request. Except when responding to a HEAD request, the
server SHOULD include an entity containing an explanation of the
error situation, and whether it is a temporary or permanent
condition. User agents SHOULD display any included entity to the
user. These response codes are applicable to any request method.
10.5.1 500 Internal Server Error
The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it
from fulfilling the request.
Just a generic error: could me that Apache isn't configured correctly, there's a mod issue, or something. Basically, the web server's running, but it's not fully up yet. The 404 error means that, even if it were running correctly - there would be no page to display.
making progress though.
-
Its good to see the site is getting close to being up(your probably think this blokes still on) anyways keep up the good work. Any ETA?
-
what bloke :dunno
-
Wiill Hyperpin see a new release aswell or just hyperspin?
-
Wiill Hyperpin see a new release aswell or just hyperspin?
Just HyperSpin. I just started getting into HyperPin and getting it configured for my pincab. Not sure what's missing from HyperPin where it would need a new release.
-
Dazz any news of when the site will be up?
-
It's getting closer... It looks like they are having problems restoring our databases. :banghead:
-
looks like we may be clearing out some of those old threads with "misinformation" like one user suggested after all...
Oh, in case anybody thinks I'm involved in this: I'm not- so don't take my words too seriously.
-
funny I didn't realize how much I was on the Hyperspin Forums until 4 days without it.
I bet crack is less addictive..
-
Looks like the server is back up, but not the site. The gateway error is gone, now we've got a 500 internal server error. Yay, sort of.
-
LOL... Mee too... I had a routine, get home, eat, make love to wife... check hyperspin... wait.... that's backwards. :-)

Thats funny you mention that, me and BBB were throwing around ideas for a new slogan. We talked about it being addicting like crack. We came up with the slogan "Hyperspin, the first hit is free" lol.
-
"Hyperspin, the first hit is free".
YEs, that's it!!!!! HAHAHA :lol :lol :lol
-
Dazz is currently working with our Hosting provider to fix the remaining issues, we have been able to finally properly recover our databases, so that's a plus. I am holding my breath on the outcome but we have a small army trying to fix this asap.
-
thanks for the update
noticed the under construction sign currently put on Hyperspin right now
those updates to the site are going to happen
-
There is nothing more depraved and irresponsible than a man in the depths of a Hyperspin Withdrawl!

There is nothing more depraved and irresponsible than a man in the depths of a Hyperspin Withdrawl!
Yeah no doubt. I have been updating my mame cab and getting Hyperspin installed. I also signed up for the FTP server for emumovies of course once I got the email with the FTP info the site went down! :banghead:
-
It has returned, with an under construction sign. Maybe when it's fully up it'll have a make over, I vaguely remember hearing about a redesign of sorts.
Hyperspin Team: Consider embedding flash pong into your under construction/maintenance page in the future? (not ultimately necessary, but hey, why not?)
-
We're all waiting for things to come back up, but as Brian and Dazz have mentioned, some really sweet treats are in store. Documentation is underway and will likely take longer than the release to be fully realized, but the vision is for much more thorough, clear and concise info and tutorials to be up. The downtime was probably a blessing. As far as the ftp download section, expect a completely new layout where things will hopefully be much easier to find. BBB and everyone else have been putting together something special and Circo has some great new vids. BBB has especially been working like a madman!
-
Is the site staying down to the new release? And when will emumovies come back on aswell?
-
Is the site staying down to the new release? And when will emumovies come back on aswell?
It's still being worked on...
-
where's the HyperSpin Post with its
crackpot theories rigid journalism when we need it?
-
Update time:
When the files were transferred over they were in read only status which has the forums broken. We were able to get emumovies.com forums up but the sync was incomplete, it has now been completed and they will fix the permissions for us sometime tonight or in the morning. Hyperspin should be right behind. So new server is up and running and we are almost there.
EmuMovies ETA - Mid Morning to Early Afternoon 2/24/2010
HyperSpin ETA Afternoon to Evening 2/24/2010
In the meantime here is something to keep you guys occupied!

Really love the 3D look of the dreamcast theme video.

:)
Emumovies is back online!
-
Emumovies is back!!! HyperSpin will be done withing the hour, but they are making some adjustments after that to the site. Dazz will have a better idea on exactly when they will be fully up. FTP's will not start coming back until later this evening and we will announce that when they are ready.
-
Great... cab is not complete without all the goodies
-
looks awesome i cant wait to finish my pin so i can start my cab arghh it's all to much.
Hah, I can't wait to finish my cab so I can start my pin build. I have almost all of the parts ready to go for my pin, but the deal with my wife was that I had to finish the cab before I started work on the pin.
-
Good to see Emumovies is up, any idea on how long till Hyperspin comes up aswell?
-

HyperSpin is up. The FTP sites are still down right now though. I think we may have to re-create a thousand FTP accounts though.

but the deal with my wife was that I had to finish the cab before I started work on the pin.
Oh, man, that sounds like a rough life.

The site has been up... Unless you are trying to connect to the FTP server. The FTP server is currently down and will remain down until sometime Sunday when we release HyperSpin v1.0.

Your browser probably cached the flash file. That happened to me, even 4 hours after the site was up I still saw the 'under construction'. Unfortunately the flash is full-screen so you can't just shift-refresh and force a cache update.
If you're still seeing the under construction delete the hyperspin-fe.com cookies from your browser. In the future we probably need to disable caching/cookies during maintenance mode or set the expiry to + 1 second in apache to prevent this.
