I have been working on my first in-wall jukebox project. Everything has gone incredibly well so far (although a bit slower than I would like). The construction is finished and looks great! I am ready to start loading my Juke app and get this project wrapped up. However, I ran into a bit of a snag.
I have an ELO 1739L touch screen monitor. I downloaded the USB driver from the ELO website and the "touch" part is fully calibrated and works great. However, my brand new Dell Windows 7 PC is not recognizing the monitor. When I go to device drivers it shows as the monitor as a "Generic Non-PNP Monitor" The issue is that this particular driver limits the screen resolution to 720 x 576 which is obviously not going to work.
My first reaction is to download the latest ELO monitor driver from their website and update my PC. Unfortunately I cannot find ANY type of ELO "monitor" driver ANYWHERE. This can't be that hard of a problem - I just have to be missing something simple.
By the way - I also have a new ATI Radeon HD 4350 video card that should be way overkill for my little Juke app.
Any ideas?

One would think that a generic Windows driver would make it work at least 800x600. You will need to find out who actually made the monitor as ELO just made the touchscreen glass/overlay. Try www.cpuid.com (http://www.cpuid.com) , run PC Wizard and that should tell you the make and model of the monitor.

That monitor is supposed to support PNP so it should have been identified automatically. Try changing the monitor type manually by setting it as a standard vga monitor which is usually the default if the monitor is not identified.

Many of those kind of touchscreen monitors are dependant on the video card drivers for better resolutions.
Meaning if you have the proper drivers for your video card installed then other resolution options wil be available.
The ELO (or Microtouch for that matter) drivers that you will find are merely for the touchscreen overlay interface, not the "monitor".
So look further into yur video card options/settings.

Problem Solved!
The solution was burried deep within the configuration software that accompanied the ATI video card. Essentially I had to manually tell the video card what resolutions my monitor was capable of. I assume I had to go through this exercise since the system did not detect my monitor automatically. Once I went through the manual configuration utility then everything was fixed.
