My plan is to put an AimTrack into the barrel of one of the following Airsoft guns:

They are both very high quality; realistic feel and look. Combine that with the blow back features and you have one bad ass lightgun.
The black one I really want goes on ebay for about $100 USD, which is not much more than what you would pay for some of the plastic ones.
It will take some modification obviously but I think that it is going to be fun as hell... and did I mention how bad ass it is going to be using a very realistic looking and feeling gun as a lightgun is going to be?

How are you going to modify the metal slide to fit the Aimtrak? It looks like the Aimtrak board might even be wider than the upper part of that gun. You might be better off with a plastic gun that is easy to cut away. Put some weight in the handle to make it feel more realistic if you like the feel of a real gun.

Well I actually ended up buying a cheap $12 airsoft gun. It worked pretty perfectly because all the outside was metal, which was what I wanted, but all the insides were plastic which made it easy to work with.
Anyway, here is the finished product. I will have better pictures soon.

In pieces
(http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj216/yo1dog/Bartop/IMG_0335.jpg) (http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj216/yo1dog/Bartop/IMG_0335.jpg)
Removing the metal barrel. I recycle this piece and use it to hold the Aim-Trak sensor
(http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj216/yo1dog/Bartop/IMG_0341.jpg) (http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj216/yo1dog/Bartop/IMG_0341.jpg)
I put one end in a vice and tightened it till the end could fit underneath the part the held the barrel.
(http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj216/yo1dog/Bartop/IMG_0343.jpg) (http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj216/yo1dog/Bartop/IMG_0343.jpg)
The part that will hold the sensor... basically the barrel cut off and moved down.

About what it should look like

Used electrical tape to hold the sensor on. The wires run through the barrel hole, out the bottom, through the clip (where the trigger button is, I will show you that part latter), and out the bottom of the clip.

The new and improved barrel attached

Completed gun
Don't worry about that ugly bolt sticking out. It will be removed soon. Besides that the gun looks and feels amazing. Now just gotta be bad and scratch off that orange paint :)

Very nice. I didn't realize that the 12$ gun was metal. I thought those were all plastic.
Going to be one of my next projects!
-
Yea well I played with it a bit before I tore it up... it was an absolutely awful airsoft gun haha.
I got the gun from http://www.airsofttitan.com (http://www.airsofttitan.com). They have a bunch of cheap guns and they look like they are having a great sale so get one while they are super cheap. Here (http://www.airsofttitan.com/new-airsoft-spring-metal-pistols-airsoft.html) is a list of their metal spring-loaded airsoft guns. Here (http://www.airsofttitan.com/8945.html) is the gun I got. I know, the orange tip in the picture is not the same but that is the one I ordered. I guess they changed it but didn't bother to update the pictures.

I have never wired a light gun before, so how did you wire the Aim Track wires to the Airsoft gun?
-
Not quite sure what you are asking but as for the trigger button; I simply rigged a microswitch in the magazine so when you pull the trigger it gets pushed.
-
I bought a plastic hand gun from K-Mart that has a mechanical slide. It automatically slides when the trigger is pulled and the gun makes a shooting sound effect. Pulling back on the slide manually makes a cocking sound effect. I figured I'd get the aimtrack and use the trigger and slide switches, plus I'd add a real button to the magizine eject button.
The gun feels good and I like the way the slide moves, but the barrel is to narrow to hold the aimtrack.
I guess what I want to know is if you were able to make the slide of the gun slide-able?
I’m going to hold out to see how the aimtrack gun kit looks, but I really like the way this gun feels so It’s still plan B if the kit falls short.
BTW: Your gun looks great, if aimtrack even comes close to yours I won't even bother with mine.
-
I had the same problem and I was never able to figure out a way to make the slide moveable.
-
Can the aimtrack be mounted on its side?
Would this work:
Modify the barrel so it's an oval. Tall enough to hold the aimtrack narrow enough to fit inside of the slide.
Then sand/cut out the hole in the slide to accommodate the new barrel.
From the shooter's point of view the barrel looks round.
Is this possible, or does the aim track need to be mounted level?
-
I am not sure.
-
Do you think this gun would work? http://www.airsofttitan.com/p788.html (http://www.airsofttitan.com/p788.html)
I'd like to have a shotgun instead of a hand gun connected. My thought would be that you would put a switch that the trigger would push, and then another somewhere in the gun where the pump would push it when you pumped the gun.
-
Sure. Just got to rig it up.

sorry to dig up a old thread, but im in the market to buy this aimtrack stuff.. and wondering if i should even waste money on the aimtrack empty shell if im gonna end up using a different gun in the end. anyhow my question.. the hand grips on the gun look like they come off. can you confirm? whatever gun i go with it must have plastic grips that i can replace with some custom exotic wood.. i have some real nice curly maple that is indeed of touching.. also i like the idea of the added mass the metal would give to the gun. thanks for any feed back.. once again please forgive me for digging up a old thread.. but seem silly to start a new thread to ask this question.

Yes, the grips are removable.

Yes, the grips are removable.
ok, thank you. one last question. on ebay there are some aimtracks kit being sold.. are these the same that http://www.ultimarc.com/aimtrak.html (http://www.ultimarc.com/aimtrak.html) sells/develop ? reason i ask.. as i understand it marc is in the UK.. and i would rather by it in the states if possible.. especially with such a small order.. if i was to buy several items id just order from the UK. im happy with the quality of the Ipac2 that marc sells. so i def want the product he promotes.. and from the looks of the pictures they seem like the same kit and these guys are just license to sell his product over here in the states.
