Ok so I live in Germany and it's not like the US where there is an endless supply of Arcade games, cabs, warehouses, etc..
I have a mame cab from MVS Neo Geo 25" (started with just a wooden shell) http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=84291.msg1057238#msg1057238 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=84291.msg1057238#msg1057238)
But I found a guy about 20mins away who has a Sega Virtual Tennis 220V
And he is selling it for $300 USD, which I get paid in Euro so it's about €210 which is much less than even an used arcade monitor can be had for.

The monitor looks pretty good, but I think this was a conversion as the camo CP and it's not the case that originally was on it.

So I was thinking about converting it to a MAME Cab. I have a spare computer and would outfit it with Jpac and more buttons to get a dual six player setup.
But I like to keep things Originalish! So what game do you think this started life out as???
Danke!

The cab is a Dynamo, usually referred to as Cut Corner. They aren't specific to any certain game, and you find lots of late 80's to early 90's fighting games in them.
Virtua Tennis uses a medium resolution monitor. Its not really a problem for MAME, but it's sort of an oddball.
MAME away!

So would this Medium resolution monitor be a good choice? Would an Arcade VGA be able to run it?
-
I would have guessed so, if your J-Pac has the jumpers - mine has 31/24/15 - 24 being medium resolution...
-
I think that KLOV is wrong in listing it as med res -- VT is NAOMI, which can put out either VGA or std res (with proper adapter). My VT2 runs at std res.
-
I guess my big question is would the monitor using an Arcade VGA be able to display Windows and a front end at 640x480?
-
The first step is to identify what the monitor is. If it is std res, you might not be happy with 640x480.
-
if you do MAME it, you could sell the NAOMI and make some of your money back.
-
So the best would to:
Sell Naomi Board'
Sell GDRom Virtua Tennis game
Sell the arcade monitor
Convert CP to six button layout
Get a Wells Gardner multisync monitor
get some ultimarc action (Ipac)
clean, paint and get side art to make it look like a standard issue street fighter cab.. or something original????
whould there be a better plan of attack on something like this ? I realize I need to go to this guys house and look at it.

virtua tennis 1 is a cart, but yeah. Also, the item has been removed, so I'd make sure he didnt already sell it :)
-
some reason it was re-listed

I think he changed the price to $300 OBO
which may be a good thing.
