i'm looking for some sound effects to put in mamewah for intro sound, exit sound, game selection, etc. what do you guys use? is it annoying when you put a sound everytime you select a different game in the mamewah menu? plus, ive searched the internet for arcade sounds, and only get some here and there...is there on main site that everybody goes to?

I have mp3's playing while you browse so I don't use sound effects. You may want to browse through some of the samples (http://www.mame.net/downsamples.html (http://www.mame.net/downsamples.html)) for some authentic dolby digital THX certified 7.12345 3-D arcade sound. Maybe it's just analog sound. Either way the sounds are straight from the arcade oldies.

LOL! :D
What you could do is get the awesome M1 arcade sound emulator from Richard Belmont (can't find the url tho :( ).
This allows you to output music and sound effects from nearly 1000 games to wav files. Just great :)

well i got that program and got my roms to load and all that, so when i checked on save as wave file....then it gave me a winamp file in my folder, but it doesnt play in winamp. so then i went into the config button place in the m1 program, and then put the name of my file that was put into my folder (the one that didnt play in winamp) and clicked on ok...so then it gives me a file that is 13.9 MB big!!! it works, but all it was was a "cowabunga!" thats 13 megs??? what the heck. are they allt hat big?

You sometimes have to quit M1i to close the WAV file properly, otherwise it may be impossible to open the file. Also, I don't think the WAV logging stops automatically, so you have to do some manual editing of the WAV file afterwards to get rid of blank bits and crackles at the start. I expect a load of blank recording is to blame for your 13 meg cowabunga.
