Title: mortal kombat monitor question
Post by: mkfan on February 11, 2010, 06:08:15 pm
is it safe to pull a mortal komat monitor out of the cabinet before i discharge it?    it looks like it would be a pain if i tried discharging it while it was still in the cabinet.

It is safe as long as you are very careful.  Make sure you read up on monitors and safety around them before you do this.  Read the monitor wiki and the tutorials on the main byoac site.  If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask here.

What kind of chassis do you have? If it's a K7000 series, I think those are supposed to discharge automatically. As long as you don't stick your finger under the anode cap, you should be ok. This video may help...

On a dedicated MK you're going to remove the bolts and pull the monitor towards you, tube to chest.  You're going to hold on to the frame.  As long as you do that, you won't be shocked.

Stick your tongue in the anode hole and you've got another story, however.  :)
