heres my problem....i have my cab all set up and the controls work fine on simple games, the buttons are mapped the way i want them to be and everything is great. but on fighter games like MK, and street figther, etc. the buttons are not mapped at all correctly. its like it took the great button mapping of the other games and just moved it all around. so button 1 is like high kick, button 2 is high punch, button 3 is block, etc.
and heres my second problem, ive been told "oh just go in the the menu in mame while you are playing the game and change the buttons the way you want them for the "game specific" controls" so i do this, and when push enter on the keyboard to clear the buttton in the menu in order to press the new one...say ill press button 1...well button 1 shows up as "Left Ctrl Right Ctrl" not "Left Ctrl or Right Ctrl". so its for some reason taking both right and left ctrls when push the button. its not that way in my ipac config, cuz it says Left Ctrl for button 1. so i went in and deleted the "default.cfg" file in the mame cfg folder like i was told, and i still have the same problem even now. anyone know why this is happening? please help

Do not pause the game when you are changing the button configs and the keys will enter properly.

okay ill try that...

ALRIGHT! that worked! thanks a lot. one more question though...now that i have changed it to the right buttons for one game, can i do the same for all fighting games...or do i have to go in each one and do it manually.

With just mame menu it is one game or all games but you can set up ctrlr files to act on groups of games. I am not sure how to do this as I have not had to but perhaps someone else can fill in the void.

thats what i figured, but since i dont know how to do that either, looks like ill be doing it manually for now :) but im sure if my configs get reset some how, ill just have to do ctrlr. anyone want to walk me through the ctrlr stuff?
