My wife is a big facebook junkie and I finally set myself up a page...
I was doing some searching on facebook on anything MAME and I found one...but it look like it was "dead". Not much hits or people not going to it...
I had a guy the other day to comment on my cab and he was asking me questions about problems he had with his cab. I refered him to this site and i hope it will help him...
I was just wondering if anybody here happens to have a facebook account...thought it be cool to have some mame friends...

I do, but I hardly use it now. Facebook got over ran with the myspace teenies I was trying to avoid. I have a bunch of byoac/klov guys in my friend list, but many of them never told me who they were online when they 'friended' me. So I have a bunch of people that I have no clue who they are in a 'arcade buddies' list.

I only have one because I was trying to view a profile and couldn't without it. I never use it, though. Same goes for twitter and myspace -- have 'em, but don't use 'em.

I'm guessing, based on past threads/posts, that a lot of people here aren't on facebook or use twitter.
Personally, I have a number of friends on it and my wife is on it quite a bit. I have a good friend and we basically share the same philosophy about it: I stay in contact either by hanging out with, talking on the phone to, or emailing friends that I want to be in contact with. Having someone from high school, college, or past employment by my friend on facebook is nice but if I really wanted to contact them, I'd have done it by now in a more personal way. I think its ok for very casual interactions but not for me.

Ex girlfriend? Guy from the past who owes you money? Something nefarious???
:laugh2:

Brother halfway across the country that I'd lost contact with, actually. I haven't seen him in 15 years and until I found him online, I had no current address or phone number for him.

Cool you found him. :applaud:
Finding a guy that owed you money would be good too though.

I use Facebook to keep in touch with old friends I normally would never see. I think it is very interesting. I also use it as my "profile" for my community and students parents who look me up. Everything on there is cupcakey, i.e. relevant to about the last three years of my life, and no reference to my first three in college. >:D

Ive got a Facebook and have used it to track down old friends that I have lost touch with over the years...not for any reason other than you lose phone numbers, move etc...if I had not moved/lost the info etc I'd have kept in touch so from that point of view Facebook has been cool.
I also keep some albums of my projects here on it which has gotten quite a few questions. It does make you (royal us here) seem pretty isolated because while a lot of guys think its cool to have an arcade they don't seem to want one themselves or think its an overly complicated en-devour..

I use facebook regularly. I am hooked on the Mafia Wars game, among others.

Yeah, I know, but it's too dad-burned cold outside to work on my true addiction, arcade cabs!

Facebook is pretty crazy, you will find old friends that you had forgotten about. Lots of sim type games to the side...

This is Facebook:
Oh cool, I remember him! *click* Add to Friend.
blah blah, you exchange one, maybe 2 messages to catch up on times past, and then that's it. Just watch each other's status updates.

I used Facebook for a while for the many of the reasons mentioned already but it seriously needs a "Politics and Religion" filter.

I started using Facebook last year right around the same time I turned 40. I lost touch with several good friends for one reason or another over the years and have almost instantly reconnected with all of them with facebook. Not just emails and PMs, but scheduled get togethers with multiple classmates and their significant others. In fact, this weekend we are all meeting at a central point and attending a concert of one of them, making an entire weekend out of it.
However, the whole experience of the site definitely loses it's luster very fast.

Still, at least it's better than Myspace... 8)

I know....
I mean, when did Myspace turn into the equivalent of "driving across the tracks"?
I'm sitting at my computer in the safety of my own home, yet I feel like I'm going to either get stabbed or get an STD just by going there.

Myspace is skeevy...
