Title: tv monitor work with Stand up Die Hard Arcade?
Post by: highlander4 on February 06, 2010, 09:25:13 pm
I'm looking at walmart at a 25" tube tv(yes they still sale tubes at walmart).  I was needing to know if it is possible to uncase the TV and use it in a Die Hard Aracade?  Trying to save some $$$$$$.

Well the short answer is yes, but of course, it will not just work out of the box...
one option is you could re-wire it to take rgb again, but this may or may not be a difficult thing to do depending on a number of factors.
the easier option would be to make(or buy) an rgb to tv converter card...would probably run you about $20-30 for a cheap one off ebay, and then you would take the monitor wires off the jamma harness and run all the video through that card to the tv instead. I've done this before with a card i made on the cheap and it worked pretty darn good mostly.
and there are other ways of course, but I tried to stick with the least expensive and easiest I could think of. hope that helps.

I have a tube in my die hard cabenit.  Was thinking of trying to get it working, but to be honest don't really know what to do/where to start.  The guy I got it from mentioned it needed a reflection board?  I really want to keep this cabinet as close to original as possible.  Well see if that goes well.
