Title: This is Just the Beginning
Post by: shateredsoul on February 04, 2010, 07:49:32 pm
So I received some of the buttons and joystick's I ordered! I'm buying my control panel one piece at a time....

So far I have 2-8 way joysticks, 1-4 way joystick, a bunch of buttons, a player 1 and 2 button, and 2 xbox 360 controllers, 2 topgun II light guns, pc 64 bit, and i have stickers in the mail for $25 play and other things like that

I would appreciate any helpful comments on my plan

Needed
-track ball (all the ones i've  seen are expensive, and it needs to be a 3" one)
-spinner
-control panel kit from mameroom (aka northcoast arcade) this includes art overlay and plexi glass overlay... 2player one probably, 4 player one is huge. I'm going to ask Scott at mameroom to modify the layout to have their be 4 buttons per row per player, and have the curve like a japanese arcade
-more buttons
- wall mounted Monitor (might use the tv that you'll see in a video I plan on posting)
-Marquee- I don't have a cabinet yet, but I thought it would be cool to put a marquee stile banner somewhere near mounted screen
-Arcade Controller stand - I'm probably going to build one, can't afford the one from northcoast
- holsters for light guns and controllers, (I have a bunch of ideas from other threads.. bike racks, u bolts,)
-need wire too!
-a loong dvi-d chord to hook up the setup to whatever tv is in the room (i'm going to have it broadcast the video signal simultaneously to both screen..  so when ppl want to sit on the coach with the xbox 360 controllers or if i want to run a movie of the pc I have that option)
-and an ipac, do I needn ipac2 if I'm going to do 2 players? I did want to put some buttons for the jukebox (play, add track, rewind, etc), but if delusional used the ipac2 and his has way more buttons than I expect to have

I'll slowly update what I have and steps I take

Currently I'm working on designing a banner/marquee that includes many characters... so I have to think up a name to put on the marquee.  I want it to be console and arcade character based. Ideas on names? I don't want Mame in the name.. or my name in the name.

Console heaven,

It will be something like this, but using maximus arcade, ... and a smaller screen, and no 3d, and no light up buttons, and 2 player ok ok so maybe not exactly like this, but you get the idea

He runs a great arcade here in Keller TX, and he sells the Happ 3" trackball with the harnesses for 3 mouse buttons pre-wired and PS/2 connectivity for $84.99.  I got my trackball, coin door and Ms Pac Man 4-way stick from him, and he carries many other Happ parts.  If you didn't already get a 4-way stick I would also recommend you to get his Ms. Pac Man 4 way stick, it works so great!

and a video of what I have setup on my computer so far.... after making it I realized how boring it was, I should have split it up into smaller chunks and tried for a better angle, but I don't have a tripod so I did the best I could

I love Tornado Terry's.  I live about a 5 minutes drive from his place, but have never taken the time to meet him in person yet.

I talked to him for about two hours straight while I was there. He's a great guy.
