Title: I guess it was bound to happen eventually....
Post by: Howard_Casto on April 22, 2019, 07:49:17 pm
Just got back from Dr.  My stupid self cut my thumb on the table saw.  All these years with woodworking and I've never really hurt myself, so I can't complain.  It's not super bad or anything, but the pad of my thumb is now skinless so I've got to wear a stupid compression wrap for the rest of the week.  I was just trying to get some sticks ready for my mvs, which should come in soon.

Got a nice scar and lack of feeling down the top middle of my pointer finger on my right hand. It’s more scary than anything else.

That sucks. I am glad it wasn't too serious.

That's more manly then my thumb story, slipped putting an atx case back together and the case edge cut my thumb almost to the bone. Happened like 20 years ago and you can still see the "line" inside my thumb. I'll start lying and tell people I cut it on a table saw.

You're blessed that it wasn't too bad.  Not paying attention and getting maimed by my table saw has always been my biggest fear.

chop off the TIP of my middle finger with the SNOW BLOWER (the chain was stuck so the Blade was slowly spinning and I was clearing out the stuck snow from the chute.).

Yeah man, but that gives you geek cred, which is better in my book.

I'm just hoping it heals up quick.   MK 11 drops tomorrow and my d-pad thumb is out of commission.  Leaked dlc says Shang will be back.

I didn't realize she was back... also good news.  The reason I'm excited about Shang is that he's apparently dlc, which would make me think that either they are going to fully restore his morphs, or vastly improve his move set.  Nobody is going to buy the mk9 Shang as-is.

In other news I think the shots have finally wore off....this damn thing is going to keep me up all night.

Drilled half through my thumb making my invaders cab. 18 months later and the nail still hasn't repaired properly.

Prior to that I tried to saw my arm off when I took a short cut making blip.

Arcade injuries. Way cooler than that bit in lethal weapon 3 when they're comparing gunshots.  :D

My first thought was oh no its gonna mess up your hand for ZapCon but looking at the thread I don't think you said you could make it.

Reminded me of when I was a kid playing league football and after the last game of the season we were going to an arcade in VA Beach called Flipper McCoy's.  Well near the end of the game I ran to the sideline and said "Coach I think I broke my finger"....he grabbed my hand and looked and said "Oh no it's your pinball finger".  Turned out it wasn't completed broke it was just fractured and I still went to Flipper McCoy's and had to play pinball using my middle finger and my index finger was throbbing all night.

Well arcade stuff I can still do... no thumbs required, it's anything with a gamepad I can't play.  It might be a good opportunity to start rebuilding the software library on my mame cab.

Glad your OK. I cut off my right hand index finger at 1st joint.
Hand and foot surgeon saved it. Had it's own hart beat if I let my hand hang down. Went a long tie holding hand above my hart. Leaned how o chicken scratch my nam left handed. 6 or 7 years later all is fine

almost ground my pointer finger off with an angle grinder, but it was just a flesh wound...

the real killer was putting a hole in the same finger's nail with a screwdriver bit on my drill while trying to screw down an Ipac2 to my current project's CP

First trip to the OR was to get a fingertip reattached by a plastic surgeon.  Many more trips to come.

Nice.  I zinged an angle grinder with a metal cutting blade over my forearm.  It left a nice 2" long and 1/4" deep cut.  I was lucky enough the blade was hot enough to cauterize the wound.  Otherwise I would be doing the following:

Healing damaged fingernails depends on their proximity to the root. Crushed ones can be better ripped off and re-grown.

My grandpa was a carpenter and cut is left index finger off. Apparently that really bummed him out, because he could no longer play viola.

Most of the hand scars I have are from grade school era projects and fire and burning plastic, though I did try to take a finger off with a Ginsu opening a bacon package back then. No woodworking injuries of note.
