I was doing a little inventory in my head this morning and realized that I have enough junk lying around to build a little arcade/jukebox for my garage.
I am determined (and avowed to my wife) to not spend a dime on this project.

For art I thought I would use...Free stickers from this awesome free sticker website (http://www.sweetfreestuff.com/free-stickers/)!!! I figure I will be put on some wacky mailing lists but that should make my mail interesting (and put me on some nice quackjob DHS lists).

T-Molding:
I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for trash in my area that has t-molding. I'm hoping for some nice poop brown.

I will stick any sort of whistles or bells on this thing...including whistles and bells!
In fact, if anyone wants to send me some random arcade crap, I will incorporate it and give you credit on the marquee AND in the front end software (somehow)!!! PM me if you want to contribute!!!
I also need some input on a front end that won't tax the old Dell Optiplex GX 270 I have set aside. The more idiot-proof the better!

where are you located? and more importantly, do you want a single piece of t-molding to cover the whole thing, or are you ok with different colored scrips butted up to each other???

Hey Brihyn & Token-
I'll take anything. I'm not proud, and the junkier it is, the better, IMO. I'll piece together the T-molding. As you can see in the magnificent mockup pic, the T-Molding is different colors.
If it's not against the rules, I'll post my full addy in this thread. 77546, USA.

Atomic FE is a nice looking front end for older PC'c running XP. I also like attract mode but don't know how it will run on your PC.

I like the idea of everyone donating 1-2 items for you to frankenstein this thing out. i have some spare t-mold, buttons, wiring, etc... happy to send something if you need it. hah hah! Xerobull in 2016! :cheers:

A few months ago, much to my wife's chagrin, I picked up a 12-year-old 53-inch rear-projection HD tv from the side of the road. It sort of works- the picture has colors that don't quite line up. At any rate I was going to tear it down and keep the parts. Any ideas for how I could glom some of this stuff into a cab?

Atomic FE is a nice looking front end for older PC'c running XP. I also like attract mode but don't know how it will run on your PC.

On a side note, you know how you become known for something and people just dump that stuff on you? Computer guy- get old computers. Aquarium guy, get old aquariums. Arcade guy...yep! Someone gave me their 60-in-1 Jamma upright this weekend. Works great, vertical screen with 'game over' burned in but I can live with it. My wife told me that it wasn't allowed in the house, but her tone was more pleading than commanding. Do I have a problem? Possibly. She may have to go.

I'm going to be working on this again at long last. I wanted to re-thank everyone who donated and let you all know that this project isn't dead, my life just gobbled up my free time for a couple of years- babies, business opportunities, all good stuff. I was working 80+ hours a week and had to prioritize.
To start with, I was able to salvage a trashed Double Dragon cab from an apartment dumpster (well, it wasn't in the dumpster, just next to it). It was modded to use an original X-Box so I'm thinking I might put CoinOps on one of my old modded X-Boxes and throw it in there to see how it works. Then I'll flesh out the cab with donations.
Again, my goal is to spend ZERO dollars on this. I'll upload pics as I start the work.

Funny you say that because I am going to upgrade my two Arcade1Up Cabs and have a ton of 'spare' parts from them. However, they are such crap that I would rather throw used 'junk' in this cab. ;D
