Guide Jumpman to the to of each stage to save Pauline from Donkey Kong! Hey, did you know that they made a movie that kind of centered around this game? Also, apparently people REALLY LIKE DONKEY KONG. There's this one guy who liked it so much that he recorded himself playing each level REALLY good, then put it all together to make it look like one great high score game!  Which proves my theory: People really like Donkey Kong!

I'll start us out with a near-personal best:
32,600.

And for the most part, that is achieved by hurrying on barrel screens, and point scabbing by jumping DK on the rivets screen. The sky's the limit for this guy, haha.

Haven't played these in ages. Great call on the reset. Sorry I missed the first few rounds -- now those won't come around again for another four years or so. I'll be joining in soon in the tight races for last place.

I almost broke 10k.  Pretty sure I'll break 10k then call it good. 

I have what I like to call a 'mostly-hate relationship' with this game, inasmuch as I mostly hate this game.  Stupid d(m)onkey and his barrels.

27,700. Probably the best I'll do this iteration. Once upon a time I remember getting to the conveyor belts but I don't see it happening this time unless I stumble on a lot more free time to play.

What's with this pattern of mine?

I get a few paltry scores, I spend a few hours, I get a solid one, think "okay I'm finally getting the hang of this" and then... I never come close to that score again.

I've only broken 30k once since my 42900.  I've gotten sub 1000 a few times though, so that's something.

I need to attack this game tonight in a livestream.  :-)  I'm decent, but no "expert" by any means.  Some guys can hit 100k in their sleep.  Sheesh!

Just looked back at when this was a pick the first time around back in 2010. High score then was 162,700. Looks like there's a high bar to get back to.

I made it to 287,500 a few years ago, but have rarely played since then. I usually only score in the low 100,000s now. I will try to play a game this week.

BTW, if you have a Nintendo Switch, you can get Donkey Kong for $7.99. It is the first time they have ever released the original game for sale since the cabinet was released in 1981. It plays pretty well, but I like it better in handheld mode. There is a little controller lag with the pro controller that makes it harder for me to play.

Even though I have a DK in the gameroom, it is still nice to be able to play it on the switch.

But I would have to replace the totally lame original joystick with a Wico....or about anything for that matter. I haven't played this much lately, but have been thinking about it.

Fun start. I decided to try out .198 to see whether it played differently since the minor timing corrections. I'm not sure, though it was an interesting game. The first rivets was bizarre, the foxes coming out slowly but in a way that didn't allow me the standard pattern, and only one fox with one of the hammers. But it was a straight run into the second elevators, and then the third pie screen fox behavior took me out.
