Title: 1Up Arcade Encoder Decision Dilemma
Post by: Vocalitus on August 17, 2020, 05:32:36 pm
Hi,

I have a 1UP MK and I want to have an encoder selector.  One for PC the other for Xbox.  I was looking at the volume selector on the 1Up and I do not know which USB line to splice into. The 5v line going to either controller board, or the data line.  I know I am answering my own question, but if I leave the 5v still plugged into both encoders will the controls confuse either board? If I go the data option will the 5v backfeed into both encoders causing the same problem? One side of the MK is traditional buttons, the other lighted.  I bought the lighted buttons already and how odd can it look?  Either board (LED Zero Delay + atmega32u2) doesn't have enough inputs for the entire control panel on their own and I looked at the Xarcade controller board as an option, which will need a more elaborate switching method.

I opted to get the wiring harness from the X arcade website.  The wiring harness matches the connectors for the 1up Joysticks and allowing for easier connections for traditional buttons.

Would the volume control option be feasible in this scenario?

Update:

I could not use the volume selector and had to buy a physical switch box.  Cannot risk damaging everything.

There was a cool 1 Up mod so you can reuse the power and volume controls on a Pi.
