Introducing the new news section! New news items can be posted by any logged-in user, and will be available for comment and discussion like any other post, once the initial topic has been approved by a moderator. The reason for requiring moderator approval of the initial topic is that any topic posted (and approved) in the news section will also show up on the front page of the arcadecontrols.com web site. The front page that hasn't been updated in a few years? Its fate is now in the hands of the userbase, like the other active parts of the site. Any wanna-be reporters out there? :) Vendors want to introduce a new product on the front page? New software release? Something happening in the game industry? Feel free to post it here.
If this is successful, great. If not, we'll do something else with the front page. Thanks!

This sounds cool. Folks, post conventions, auctions, etc. Would be neat to have a localized spot for info/news.
-
Can't wait to post ZapCon news!
-
*NOTICE* - posts in this forum cannot be edited. This is to avoid something on the news page being approved, then later modified. :)
-
Actually it's live now. http://arcadecontrols.com (http://arcadecontrols.com)

Any product release announcement should have a section at the end where Paige tells us how we can fish something better out of a dumpster.

Don't worry PBJ, we know there is only one true authority on dumpster diving. ;)

change that background image, even plain white is better and easier to read.

But, but, but... it's a 16 year tradition!
Ok - what should the background be everyone? I'm willing to update.

You're really screwing with my muscle memory by placing Submit News to the left of Unread Posts.

What theme are you running? Thankfully, I don't even see submit news.

+1
(I've suggested to Saint on another thread that he put i back) :)

Really? Cant edit posts?
Anyfart, I just realized what you were talking about, the bar under the forum layout area. Ive always used the top unread/new replies so hopefully he doesnt mess with those.

Will fix the placement. Also, I've set this forum so that posts can't be edited, so that we don't approve a news item only to have someone do something funky to it later (since news items are on the front page). I may be able to distinguish between original posts and replies, will look.

No I say leave it as is, but let everyone know that posts cannot be edited. I think its a safer and better approach than having the possibility of someone "doing something funky"

I see how it is, you've got to write another book before the homepage gets any love.
A decade or two ago I messed around with happ control mounting/exploding diagrams as backgrounds for stuff. I don't know about legal issues, but that would probably look pretty good. Just something that isn't white...... white is so 1998.
