Have done some work on this the last few days.
Now have one "uppe torso" of the new cabinet, got to come up with something as a base for it now..
Also, the controlpanel needs some welding and new holes for the controllers. This would be done later, I guess.

Removed sideart, only on One side at the moment.. Probably going to apply a white vinyl, after smoothing out the surface.  I should replace the sides, they got some chips here and there. Perhaps later, if i bother..

Spraypainted random bits and pieces.
Still thinking on the base part, can't make up my mind on how it should be.

Stripped and painted the bezel white.
Speaker mesh got a few coats of black.

Boring work of aligning boards for cabinets base/compartment.

Forgot i needed the back to have a door to access gameboard, power suply etc.
So three sides got assembled, the last needs some work as I made a whole panel.
Debating My self on how to make the door now, middlepart thst is hinged or just a loose panel that is removable.
Whats the most prefered way?

More work on sunday, off to celebrate mother in laws birthday *jawn* 😏

Did some more work on the base today.
Replaced the mouldings with some lager ones and did some adjustments overall. Cut the back plate to make a door, door still to be made.

Test fitted the base.
Any comments are welcome!

I had to remind myself to not assemble it yet as there still is work needed.
Slot for t-mold, paint and some other stuff..

Very interesting project this is.  By your test fittings it looks like the cabinet will be Candy-cab-esque, along with a hint of a Dynamo HS-9 stylings.

I think it's going to turn out to be a very nice and unique cabinet. Keep it up!  :applaud:

Guess your right on this one.
It would be kinda like a candy/dynamo cab. Thats not a problem, as the current plan is a fighter cab  ;)
So let's just see how long it takes before I get more games to stuff into this cab, there sure is room for a couple boards and a JAMMA switcher.  ;D

I thought it would be easier to build a cab out of the parts of a huge cabinet like the Title Fight was. Underway I'm starting to think I was wrong. There might be a possibility there is easier to start from scratch. And since there was no takers on the original cabinet, and I didn't have the space or interest for the original game, i think this was the best option. PCB was sold on ebay for shipping costs, so thats not mishandled either.
I now find my self wanting to replace other parts instead off upcycling them, like the sidepanels. They are kinda rough around the edges and the overall look would be better of course. But again, time and money is kinda a big deal now a days (marriage in about 3 months).

Næh.. That would require too much space and I don't really need vs cabinets as I'm pretty alone when it comes to retro gaming around here.
Btw, seen that 3-player pinball? I just stumbled over it last night. WTF material right there!

Got t-molding from t-molding.com the other day.
Also have a MV-1F coming my way. Now debating myself if I'm going with a 6 button config (for my Street Fighter: World Warrior PCB) or a 4 button Neo Geo setup..

Been too cold to do any work on this, around 10-20' Celsius out in the garage is way too cold for my skin&bones..
Since xmas is coming up in a week, I'm gonna be busy doing familiy stuff when not working.. gah!

these are going to look cool, I'd make the other cab with monitor vertically oriented... best of both worlds!

Only one thing about that idea going to be annoying.. The bezel can't be rotated, so they Will never be remotely similar.

Sure is nothing wrong with that.

But take a look at the bezel for the cabinets, this can not be rotated 90' to fit a vertical montior setup.
This means there must be made a different bezel for the second cab and that would lead to a cab looking like something from a different family more than a twin of the first cab..

Debating myself to replace the sides of the top.
They are kinda rough and sticky from the old decals.
Needs doors now. Need to find a guy to make a new Controlpanel for me.

Dont understand it, you slaugther a rare title fight to build an ordinary upright cabinet and eat an efford that wouldŽnt be more if you have built the cabinet from scratch???

You see.. I'm on a different planet then yours. My planet is called Norway.
The resources are low, and we need to do what we need to do. Also, there was no market for selling the cab as it was HUGE!
So I decided to try to make two cabinets out of the one I had.

The options was to throw it out or hack it.
I think this was the better option.

Btw. This is byoac, not KLOV.

Usually I'm with the others when it comes to converting cabs like this ( like I did Witt the guy who converted Computer Space into a wide screen MAME cabinet). But, I never was a fan of this boxing game. I think it's kind of cool what you are doing with it.

You sir, would have more luck over at KLOV forums.

As this had no market value where I live (that's why I got it for free in the first place) and also takes up quite a large space in anyones private arcade, the only reasonable thing to do is to use the parts that are there to make for something that will come to use.
Like two of more regular size cabinets, fully JAMMA standard.
Title: Re: Hacking up a Title Fight - Making a new cab.
Post by: synonym9 on June 04, 2014, 11:53:00 am

Aha...so the "JAMMA-Standard" makes it so slaught-worthy?

I still dont get it.
Later people will say "I had one, when I knew that it is valueable today"

Every cab is worth to be preserved.....what does the value on the market got to do with it.

To destroy a rare and very unique cabinet just to save some bucks on wood and to earn a JAMMA-harness (which is nothing special)is the most stupid thing I have ever heard.

I am not going into your links, it stays what it is! Its stupid to destroy a cab to use maybe 15% of the substance, and that members here defend that shows how low the moral and the standards of some collectors is.

Not everybody lives in the USA where you tons of classic games for some bucks.

Its like to slaughter a 55 Chevy because it got a posi-traction rear end and to kick the rest.....only because the 55 was for free and I am to broke to by a rearend.

It is more accurate to call this a broken down 1971 Pinto that resides in Kazakhstan where no parts are easily available, and nobody cares enough to want a Pinto either.

Nothing wrong with posi-traction rear end, unless you're a lead foot in the rain. Its actually good to have if you're stuck in a ditch or something, but a limited slip is better.

Sup with all these video game guys comparing cabs to cars?   That being said, Title fight was pretty weak, more than other boxing games due to the gimmick controls . Typically I'm in the "restore it dont MAME it" group, but the cost of the parts on this machine is redonkulous. The sticks go for around 75 bucks a pop, thats $300 to replace all 4. Then you need  TWO Sega System-32 boards (one for each "side") the cost just keeps going up and up and up. Couple all that with where the OP is located and you can understand why he's doing what he's doing.

I understand that....BUT, he never statet that it did not work....or I just did not see it.....

I once had a chance to vet a title fight but was too slow and so someone else made the deal....but whenever another title fight crosses my was I will get my hands on it.

^This. He already sold the boards, so at least they're going to someone who can make good use of them.

The game was crap anyways. Do what you want with your crap. :D
