Title: Very High brightness even on the lowest option

Hello and good evening,
I am facing a strange issue with my CRT monitor in the arcade.
i have an intervideo chassis and the issue is that i have very bright image on screen even if i turn the brightness to lowest option on the board.
This causes also the colors to be faded and too bright.
The screen option on the flyback or contrast option does not help. i tried adjust them but with no solution to the problem.
The thing is that when i spray the neckboard with some contact cleaner, the brightness is working normally again and i can correctly adjust it. but only for a minute or 2 while the cleaner lasts.
I think the issue is in the neckboard..
Any help what to do?

corroded crt socket is possible, bad solder joint on crt socket, other bad solder joints on on neck card, bad cap on neck card
I imagine you are spraying the contact cleaner into the crt socket?

first i try spraying the CRT socket but with no better results. then i tried spraying the back of the neckboard and that seems to work. but it last only a minute. then it goes full  bright again..

pretty odd way to fault find, i would not do it myself

what model intervideo is it?

Hi

Upload the photos directly with the post rather than a dropbox download link.

Alternatively, use an image hosting site like imgur which will give you a link. Then embed the link in your post using img tags. Easy way to do that is to copy the link into your post, highlight it, then click the picture button in the toolbar above (button looks like a mini Mona Lisa, and is under the B (bold) button.

Some people use the latest "NOT A PROJECT" thread to upload their photos, then take a copy a link from there to embed in their posts.

Maybe you have a cold solder join or a crack or corrosion in a PCB trace or the CRT socket that briefly comes good - until your contact cleaner fluid dries off. Inspect everything closely and maybe tap/poke gently with a wooden spoon or back of a screwdriver while operating the monitor to see if it temporarily improves.
