So I taught my 9 year old twins last night how to play Clue. As we were playing, I told them I had a couple of other Clue games that they may like too. I realized that we own the following:
Clue Jr.
Clue Carnival
Clue
Clue Master Detective
VCR Clue
VCR Clue II
The two VCR clue games are hilarious.
So other than 10,000+ roms, what games are you or your families into?
-
Here are some that my family enjoys that would probably work with your 9 year old's as well
King of Tokyo
Potion Explosion
Sushi Go
Sleeping Queens
Kingdomino
-
Settlers of Catan - both of my daughters love this game - probably better for teenagers and up.
-
Catan is one we'll do when they're older. :applaud:
We have Sushi Go and my wife plays it with them. I need to learn how to play it.
We have a new one called Otrio that's fun. Some others that we've either played or will when they're older are:
Farkle
Perudo
Quarto
Qwirkle
Onitama

Pandemic Legacy - you need 3 other people, though.
Othello
Blokus
Cards Against Humanity

Avengers Monopoly
Sorry
Kinda depends on how much brain power we feel like exerting.
-
Aggravation

We only ever play at Christmas time really as we have no young-uns in the family.
Yet anyways...
But we tend to play Monopoly or some general knowledge trivia type game that I cant remember the name of...

Yes. :D

No one has mentioned MtG? ???
-
Ticket to Ride
Settlers of Catan
Are probably the most re-playable family games now; replacing Monopoly and Clue.

Dixit is a great game for general audiences without feeling 'dumbed down' for younger audiences. Rules-wise it's quite simple, but it makes good use of imagination and consequently requires some thought. I've played it both with just adults as well as mixed groups of kids and adults, and everyone has always enjoyed it.
-
I need to come up with a board game for adult nerds and get me some of that sweet sweet tabletop money.

We play Betrayal at House on the Hill (https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/10547/betrayal-house-hill) every other weekend. Its a fun RPG type with a spooky twist at every end.
-
These days it's Clue and Battleship with my ten-year-old. We kinda-sorta play an RPG, but we create new rules for each game. We use the different-sided dice and use the idea of variable chances of success based on the particulars of a situation, but she's never seen an RPG reference manual, and wouldn't know what D&D or RPG stands for. We just call it the story-telling game.

No one has mentioned MtG? ???
Probably my favorite game ever. Have a great group that plays every week just for fun. I avoid tournaments like the plague.

Instead of magic challenge someone to hearthstone on your phone 8) I still love that game even though they have cheesy overpowered cards that are breaking the arena game mode right now.
-
We play a few versions of Fluxx, Pirate is the favorite.
As my kids get older we've had some fun with Talisman.
Uno, Rummy, spades, on occasion.
I played "splendor" at an event a while ago and hope to start that soon.
-
My 10yr old is on a huge chess kick so we play that on the regular. Sometimes to take a break from that we'll play checkers.
We enjoy Fireball Island, Forbidden Island, Trouble, Twister, really anything.

Joking Hazard (https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/193621/joking-hazard)
Yeah, I've played that quite a bit. A few of my friends are in love with it, I think it wears thin very quickly. There's about 3 punch lines.
