Title: CHEATS: DAT File or CHEATS.ZIP? (also where?)
Post by: c0dehunter on June 23, 2012, 03:36:50 am
Hello all,
Where do I need to place the cheat file? Older MAME accepted cheats in a folder called cheats. The newer build have support for a XML (in zipped format, called cheats.zip) placed in the same folder where the mame executable is residing. I tried all these, and I still don't see the cheats menu when I press TAB inside a game)

Any help would be appreciated.

Into mame.ini:
Code: [Select]
cheatpath                 path/to/somewhere
cheat                     1

Then you can unpack the zipped cheats into that path.

The author of the cheats, had specifically advised against unzipping the cheats.zip.

Ok, instead "unpack" say "copy".

Thanks, in my mame.ini, cheat was set to "0": I changed it to "1" and it works now! (I have cheats.zip in the root folder of my groovymame folder)
