Title: Help w/ Monitor Identification

Hopefully on this forum someone can help me out with ID'ing this monitor.

Looks like a Hantarex monitor of some type, but I can't tell which.

Looks like a kortek to me.

Go look at

And see if you can find your monitor.


(P.S. the tube doesn't help a bit to ID a monitor, we need more pics of the board)

I agree it looks like a Kortek, plus often used with Samsung tubes.

It's definitely a Kortek monitor which was sold under many brand names here in the USA as Imperial, Sharp Image, Videomaster, Penn-Ray, Tekbilt, etc.

Zanen Electronics capkit # 520 or 501 will work on this monitor.

Thanks guys. I checked out the site you mentioned and examined pictures of Kortex and Hantarex monitors, but none really looked like the board I have.  Is there something in particular that I can look for on the board or take a picture of that would help you ascertain it's identity?

Again, it is definitely a Kortek monitor. Go to www.atarijeff.com and then "files section" -> "monitors". Check out the Imperial manual, the Sharp Image Si-319 manual, and the Wico Sum20 manual. One of those will be close to yours. Kortek made so many variations that sometimes you need to have the schematics from all three of the above manuals to find an exact (or close enough) match to the circuitry.

Thanks Ken.  I dowloaded the Imperial Manual and it looks like it is pretty close to what I got.  At least for my purposes.  I do have one last question though.  When I first got the monitor the Degaussing coil was not hooked up to the board.  I then plugged the coil back into the board and fired it up only to blow the 125V 4amp fuse on the board.  I bought a replacement fuse, unplugged the D-coil, and bought a external D-coil.  The monitor works fine now, but I'd really like to have the D-coil hooked up and working.    Is the D-coil polarized?  ie; Did I just hook it the wrong way the first time and that is why the fuse blew?  -Jarrett

The degausser coil can sometimes get it's internal wires pinched in the monitor frame or the tube mounting screws which either shorts out the coil itself or grounds the coil to the frame thus blowing the fuse.

The coil typically is operated from 120 volts AC for about 1 second each time the monitor is powered up. There is a thermal resistor and a couple of diodes on the main monitor board that make up this 1 second pulse. The diodes can sometimes short out also blowing the fuse.
