Title: Quick List of Soft15khz Compatibile Video Cards
Post by: dskinchen on April 26, 2012, 09:52:14 am
Because I'm generally lazy and I couldn't find a quick list, I've started one using the posts from SailorSat's page. For full info and tweaks you still need to refer to the ArcadeInfo site. http://community.arcadeinfo.de/showthread.php?t=7925 (http://community.arcadeinfo.de/showthread.php?t=7925)

If there are more cards that work, please add them or send them to me and I'll update the list.

I have the chance to pick up an ATI Radeon 9250 PCI card. I see the AGP version is in the list- does anyone have a reason to believe the PCI counterpart wouldn't work with Soft15khz?

The PCI version of the 9250 should work perfectly.

what would be the best/cheapest card to be able to use soft15khz and be able to play Street Fighter IV (obviously on a low resolution) ?
i just can't figure it out. thanks in advance.

Edit: PCI or PCI-E

Im trying to get it to work with a geforce 7800GT.  I install 15khz, reboot the machine and it looks exactly the same (regular VGA output).  Does that mean its just not compatible?  or is there a conflict in the driver?  I just downloaded the newest nvida driver for it and installed.

EDIT: found this: http://www.marcusnyberg.com/2011/01/17/soft15khz-and-problem-with-the-latest-nvidia-drivers/ (http://www.marcusnyberg.com/2011/01/17/soft15khz-and-problem-with-the-latest-nvidia-drivers/)     I guess the newest drivers suck.  will try this when I get home and report back

ah it works!  Geforce 7800 GT is a go with the old forceware drivers and a sync combiner:

Hi guys,

I used to have a radeon 9600 pro agp installed on a P4 and it work fine, but I was forced to move to PCI-E due to a mobo failure.

I'm trying to use a RADEON HD 2400PRO = asus eah 2400 pro

http://www.ebay.com/ctg/ASUS-ATI-Radeon-HD-2400PRO-EAH2400pro-HTP-256-256-MB-DDR2-SDRAM-PCI-Express-x16-Graphics-adapter-/73799324 (http://www.ebay.com/ctg/ASUS-ATI-Radeon-HD-2400PRO-EAH2400pro-HTP-256-256-MB-DDR2-SDRAM-PCI-Express-x16-Graphics-adapter-/73799324)

but I can't get it to work with soft15khz.

Anyone using or tested this card? I'm about to call it quits...  :(

All help appreciated

B.

You're probably running into the no support for low pixelclock (dotclock) issue. Search this forum for some info.

I just installed a Toshiba Tecra S1 laptop in an old cabinet. With it's ATI Radeon 9000 it's perfect for this application. With soft15khz installed, the LCD screen stills works fine. It even has a PS2 port for the older X-arcade controls.

It's 2020 but I want to add that I'm running soft15khz with ATI Radeon X700 successfully on Windows XP 64-bit
