Title: Question about the Calamity driver for xp 32bit.
Post by: moundy on October 14, 2011, 11:16:52 am
Do I need to uninstall ATI's 11.xx driver first before installing the calamity driver for XP 32 bit ?  If so how do I do it without getting a blank screen after windows splash screen? I've been using add/remove to get rid of ATI Catalyst Uninstall manager but I have to do a system restore each time because I get blank screen after boot up.  Can I just uninstall the driver in hardware manager or update in harware manager ?  Any help would be much appreciated.

Where are you getting a blank screen? Are you using an arcade monitor during all the process?

Right now I'm just using a viewsonic ps790 crt monitor . I get the blank screen right after the Windows loading screen, like a blank screen saver . This is after trying to uninstall the ATI 11.xx driver.  Basically I can't install the calamity driver if uninstalling the ATI driver is required until I can figure this out. On a side note, I did notice that my monitor is running at 85hz if that even matters.  I do plan on hooking this up to my NEC-XM29 monitor but I felt it was easier for me to do most of my setup/installs on the viewsonic first.

Yes, it's a good idea to use a VGA during installation. Anyway, you can try installing the drivers while in VGA mode, starting the system with F8, that might solve your issue.

I think it's working. Vmmaker says it's installed. Not sure how to use it yet. Is there a tutorial ? I'm wanting to test the snes using bsnes 0.82 32bit. Thanks for your help.
