Title: Rush 2049 Questions
Post by: 05SRT4 on September 02, 2013, 03:16:44 am
Hey guys,

My wife and I recently purchased our first home, and with that my wife has agreed that I can purchase a few more arcades. I found and actually went out and spoke to someone from a classifieds add that has San Fransisco Rush 2049 and a Silent Scope 2 - Dark Silhouette that I am interested in. I went out yesterday and looked at both, the guy wants 1700$ for the Rush and 1245$ for the silent scope. I was able to talk him down to 2500 for both but in stead of a mint 2049 he said he would give me another one. the one that he would sell to me is fully functional, exterior looks great but the Monitor is not as bright and there are very light and thin horizontal lines that go across the screen. He said that he has a few cap kits (the guy has 6 of these arcades in his basement) that he will throw in free of charge. The Silent scope works great it is just missing the coin mech parts.

Before I make the purchase I was hoping to get some feedback on the monitor issue. Do you think a re-cap would be a good fix for the above issue?

Do you think 2500$ is a good range for the 2?

Thanks for any input guys.

Is Rush 2049 leaps and bounds better than California Crusin?  Because I've seen a few California Cruisin's got for around $150 - $300 lately.  $1700 sounds really high.

How many levels does Cruisn and Cali have? When I played the rush it had like 7 tracks and a hand full of cars, pluss its has the Pin pad to keep your progress tracked so you can unlock more.

I gotta agree. 1700 sounds like a lot for Rush. for that price you can find initial D or some other newer 3d racing cabs. it is a single or double cab? if its a double, then its a bit more reasonable

I think 9?

I've seen doubles (Daytona and such) go for Sub-$800 here "locally-ish" on Craigslist.

If the SF Rush is in pristine condition - I could see $800 I guess.  But if its in typical "routed" condition (kids gum stuck all over it, where and tear from being moved around a lot, possible cigarette burns, monitor burn in... etc)..  $1700 sounds like a ton.

Although, if you're buying from operator - $1700 may be the price he's giving you with the thought in the back of his head that you might be putting it on location to compete with his potential customers.

Just to further drive home the point....

You can get 13 driving cabinets for $1,750 (buy it now).  Granted, they need work.. but still.

Here's another for $1,000, claims to be fully working.

One last one - actually sorta local to me.  2x Midway Offroad challenge cabinets for $800  (its not Rush 2049 - but still)

Great thanks for the info guys. I will look into some other deals. I don't really see much going on in the western (Utah) areas unless I'm going to drive a few hours to and from.

Good luck in your search!  I've done a couple of 10+ hour (round trip) road trips to pickup pinball machines.  :)

You might want to post in the buy and sale on various arcade forums (this one included) - you never know what people have stashed away that they may want to offload if something is looking.

Pretty easy to justify the cost of driving for the overall savings.  Shipping costs might be an option for the right deal.

Side story: My wife wants to move out to UT and since I'm a classic arcade collector I searched the local CL out there.  Wow, very sparse compared to the midwest (btw - I'm between Chicago and Milwaukee).  On more reason I don't want to move there... LOL

late to the party, thats way too much. That's more than the sellers in Delaware overcharge. 2500 means like 4 or 5 good machines, not 2. Also, you'll tire of Silent Scope pretty quickly, the novelty is there but meh.
