Hmmm does Tiger Woods have true trackball support, akin to arcade trackball gameplay, or is it just the existing mouse support used in trackball form?I think its just mouse support but it works out to be the same as far as I am concerned. :applaud:
Great list btw, thanks!
GTA Vice City:
Is NOT a arcade friendly game at all, since it designed with use with a xbox/ps3 controller in mind and not with arcade cab in mind. How can you really use a 2 analog controllers AND buttons simulations at once? You can't really do that with a normal arcade controls most use.

I intended for digital joysticks that can work the turret angle as well as have secondary function (such as zoom) when on foot. When I play on my computer I almost only use the mouse with 2 buttons (trackball on cab) and the arrow keys (left digital joystick on cab). Very few of the other buttons get used a lot. Depending on one's control panel, and how they layed the buttons out, it could either be horribly cab unfriendly to working well on a cab. (For it to work on my cp, I would need to add a trackball for direction that the charactor is looking, as it would be horrid with 2 joysticks).
BTW never played the console versions, so I cannot comment on those controls...
I like the idea of moving the relatively static content to the wiki. I'll help populate the data.
Personally, I'm most interested in freeware and indy development. There's so much great and creative arcade stuff out there, I don't spend alot of time looking at commercial efforts. The retro stuff is easier to program now, developers are sensitive to the style, and they don't feel compelled to add bling to compete with other commercial offerings. And we can freely download, enjoy, and share the free stuff. :)

Torus Trooper (http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~cs8k-cyu/windows/tt_e.html) is a fast-paced scrolling shooter reminiscent to Tempest. It's keyboard only (hardcoded). It will most likely require you to use an utility like Xpadder or Joy2Key to adapt it to your setup but it's still worth the trouble.
-- Movement Arrow / Num / [WASD] / Joystick
Hold an up key to increase speed.
-- Shot [Z][L-Ctrl][.] / Trigger 1, 4, 5, 8
Hold a shot key to open automatic fire.
-- Charge shot [X][L-Alt][L-Shift][/] / Trigger 2, 3, 6, 7

I Agree. Many Indy games is really arcade cab friendly, smaller, and typical more arcade fell than these commercial games. I also like Sega games, because many of these is typical direct port of arcade games which is good point here.
That looks like a pretty good remake Mazzmn, I might have to check that out tomorrow. :applaud:
Just noticed this Pengo remake/update freeware pretty neat
Push-Push Penguin by Army of Trolls

Some others available too, great looking artwork
Tried this one today, unfortunately it wouldn't run on my cabinet, even though I set the resolution correct. The screen went black and then it went back to the desktop. Oh well, never mind. Maybe the game needs Win XP, My cab has win 98se.
on a side note, slightly off topic, how do you guys run games with different control panel configurations? I program my IPAC with the Ctrl+Alt+P command, but then if the next game I play is different controls then im stuffed again! :dunno
I use Mala as a Frontend, which has an option to set up a program to launch prior to your game, and then set the group to use to ipc file of your choice.
I haven't tried it yet, but there's a game called "Bullet Candy" that looks interesting. It seems to be a sort of fusion between Geometry Wars and Ikaruga (or similar "bullet hell" games.) It's a pay-to-download, but it's only 4 bucks or so, so that doesn't seem too much of an issue. I only wish that I could find a game demo first.
I've just recieved my RAIDEN III PC CD!! (Friends in Japan Rawk ;P )
Excellent game for a cab, customizable controls, runs excellently on my old raiden 9700 mobility 64mb. Its 3D and similar to Raiden II, very addictive!
Music pumps you up, fitting for the camera because you're zooming over landscapes everywhere! (Sorta like Ikaruga).
Runs very nice on my Monitor 640x480i! :D (Has an option to rotate screen CW or CCW 90 Degree's, or 2 different types of horizontal views).
its 2 Player as well.
Are you guys just talking about free computer games? Are you just talking about ones that can run on crappy computers? Are you just talking about games that do not require a CD to Boot up… because it is pretty easy to download load a crack .exe to replace your original .exe file that will no longer requires a CD to boot the game.
I've been running the Touhou Project (http://touhou.wikia.com/wiki/Touhou_Wiki) games on my cab for a while. Pretty fun "Bullett hell shooter" sub-genre of SHM-Ups
(http://img224.imageshack.us/img224/9558/touhou10.jpg)
plays with 4 buttons - but you can use as little as 2 (shoot and bomb)
How do you download these games? Do you have to create an account?
Found this one today. Remake of an old PC game called SkyRoads. It's a blast to play! Highly configurable too. :applaud: Should work great in a cab!
http://www.tastystatic.com/
Pretty sweet Manic Miner clone can be found here:
http://tinyurl.com/yg6xlog (http://tinyurl.com/yg6xlog)
Configurable keys and fun to play. Goin' on my cab for sure!
Anyone try Jeff Minter's latest for PC called "SPace Giraffe"? Curious if that would work as I like his Tempest style games.
Use the keyboard arrows to moveOtherwise, they keys are can be configured from the game menu. I have played it for about an hour and I am real happy with the $9.99 purchase.

Has anyone tried Street Fighter 4? My only concern is if the resolution can get low enough for my monitor (640x480)SF4 works fine in 640x480 mode. I have it running through Hyperspin flawlessly.
I'd love to play some Street Fighter 4 on my cab

Some others I haven't seen mentioned yet:
BlazBlue: CT - A PC version was released
Melty Blood - Again, a PC version was released, but I don't think it's Act Cadenza
Guilty Gear Isuka - A tag-team style version of GG
Guilty Gear XX #Reload - I saw GGX mentioned but this one also so a release.
Descent? -Has anyone tried playing the descent's on cabinet? They were designed around joystick play, probably fairly adaptable to arcade cabinet.
shank, 1 player works fine on cab.. 2 player has to be a game pad (i think). Has anyone figured out a way to put shank on the same keyboard? I wonder if the street fighter 4 patch would work with this? it also recognizes xbox 360 controllers

Just to make everyone here aware; Rockstar Games has classified Grand Theft Auto 1 & 2 (plus another game called Wild Metal: Vol 2) as Freeware! :applaud:
You can now go and legally download these great games for your arcade here:

Jamestown is very cool, only limiting factor for a cab is only 1 player can be mapped to keyboard.
I saw a game on Steam that came out this summer called Jamestown: Legend of the Lost Colony. It's a horizontal screen shmup that has 4 player co-op which I have not seen in a shmup before.

Plus, it has a 3D mode (bust out those red and blue glasses!)

Luxor Evolved. I don't normally like this type of game but it is well done and has that Geometry wars retro look except it's more of a Puzzler.
Play as Moebius or Pucky and rescue hundreds of strange creatures that inhabit unusual places. Move through teleporters and from one side of the screen to the other in a chaotic game experience that will make your neurons burn as you progress through the 15 levels.
A must have on cabs....Toki Remake

Analog support has been added to Cannonball. :applaud:
I just saw this update and haven't tried it yet. (I will tonight!)
This isn't an emulator, but a complete rewrite in C++ by someone with a deep understanding of the game.
However, it requires MAME roms for the graphics and sound.
Cannonball is a program which allows you to play an enhanced version of Yu Suzuki's seminal arcade racer, OutRun, on a variety of systems:
60 fps gameplay (smoother than the original game)
True widescreen mode (extend the play area by 25%)
High Resolution mode (improves sprite scaling)
Time Trial Mode
Cheats
Customisable Music
High Score Saving
Western, Japanese & prototype track support
Analog & Digital controllers supported
Fixes bugs present in the original game

Maldita CastillaALL Locomalito games should be in the first page (list) of this topic.
Too bad the Original Post is so far out of date (most links are dead) :(
Was looking forward to taking some time and looking around here, but after clicking on a random 8 links and getting nothing.. it got a little less 'fun'.
I would like to start a somewhat official list of PC Games that can be played on cabs. Here's the my list so far:

Anyone else care to add to this list? Perhaps this is a good thing to add to the Wiki????

Hi mate. I am not being funny, but surely if you've got a trackball and two spare buttons that you can assign as mouse buttons you can play ANY pc game? Am I wrong?
Dust: An Elysian Tail is a action RPG side-scroller that feels a bit like Cadash. Great scores from critics and players on Metacritic. A trackball is needed for menus, but everything else can be handled with joystick/buttons. Visuals are amazing!
Long forgotten is the legend of Gaurodan, the bird of thunder, and his fight with Guayota, the fire beast. But now mankind has discovered the egg of Guayota within Mount Teide, and it is only a matter of time until Guarodan returns from the sky to fight the beast and punish us for awakening his ancient enemy.
Fly around the Canary Islands as Gaurodan, and destroy cities, armies and colossal creatures in your path throught this frantic shmup, created for the lovers of classic games that require mastering.
You'll need some mastering to play this game because controls are not the usual: you have two buttons to shoot air-air and air-ground, and you can't stop moving in the air. Guarodan is inspired by early titles like Defender, Choplifter or Sky Kid in terms of gameplay, and has a similar production style to other arcade games like Commando, Gyrodine or 1942.
Great finds 404  Both games are fantastic. Locomalito is a FANTASTIC indie developer. Definitely putting both of these into my PC game cab.
anyone know how to change button configs for eggnogg?
Please Seith (and everyone else) share with us your pc game list you have on your machine.
anyone know how to change button configs for eggnogg?
Portal works pretty well for me as well.
So far I haven't had any problems.but I haven't played it all the way through yet.
As is Retro City Rampage (is that on PC?)Yes
anyone know how to change button configs for eggnogg?
The author does state that he/she will work on a button remapping option in a future version. Maybe if we all leave enough feedback, he/she will add button config & cmd line full screen.
It looks like a lot of fun but is not cab-friendly for me.

They used all buttons on the Xbox 360/PS2 controller (these versions I have played), and is clearly for me designed for that.... But still it have no fell of arcade game at all. The list should split into two list, these with real arcade/simple arcade game, and these which might require more controllers, lige GTA games.
Howover GTA1 and GTA2 can been a real gem on a arcade cab, which might play a much better than these 3d versions!
Crimzon Clover: World Ignition (available from Steam)I just bought this from GreenMan Gaming for a discount (Steam Key). $8 after 20% off $9.99 with this discount code: KNQFY9-4UP2WZ-VNNQ7Z
One of the best shmups of recent time. It can be played in vertical full screen as well as on a horizontal screen. Highly recommended.

Is there a specific page? I had to remove a couple pics in the driving cab examples thread because they were setting off avast.
Yup, if a mod or OP could save the pic and attach it to the post instead of linking, the problem will go away.Good idea. Did it work?
My powers are limited to the driving cab forum.
Good idea. Did it work?
Odallus is a fantastic NES style game which has many similar points with Castlevania.
Sorry, I meant to say:
Does it happen to have re-mappable inputs?
Would love to try these but Steam and I, not friends.

Revamped Gauntlet on the Steam Store? Looks nice....anyone tried it on an arcade cabinet?
the "new" one? requires a controller, or at minimum WADS+other keys+Mouse ; not a good fit for arcade controls.
