This one's interesting. There aren't many good 4-player NES games worth playing, but this looks pretty fun. I love their video on how they optimized the graphics used in the game
The whole game is 40kb!
-
Yeah I backed this one for a punt.
Looks pretty fun!
-
What a wonderful project. The how-to video is awesome.
-
Using that remaining byte to shift the level tiles blew my mind. Brilliant solution for the level mirroring problem!
-
This game looks awesome, but it's crazy that they can't deliver the supposedly finished rom until April.
I don't believe the claim that it would devalue the carts. Collectors are buying the carts. I would wager that collectors don't care if you can already play the game via flash carts.
Plus, shipping fees on digital downloads, WTF?
-
I got to play Micro Mages today at the Midwest Gaming Classic. It's great! Now I'm really excited for the official release.

Good to hear I also backed that one!
-
I didn't back it on KS, but I purchased the digital edition on Indiegogo for $9. I saw the cart and it looked very professional. I'm planning to play it on an Everdrive N8. Supposedly, it will be released at the end of this month at the latest.
-
Yeah I backed the cart KS which has the rom to.
Also planning on playing via a N8 and I will keep the cart boxed on the shelf :)
-
Nice.
Hopefully it gets in my hands before Zapcon. I plan on bringing it for that weekend and have the byoac homies try it out.
-
I got a kickstarter update that the physical versions are going to be shipping out by the end of next week, which will only give it 3 or 4 business days to get to me before I take off for Zapcon. I hope it will get here in time, I’d love the crack it open with the homies and get the 4-player fun on. <fingers crossed>
Edit: I just realized that I’ll be getting a digital rom version as well. Worst case, I can load it up on the old Powerpak.
-
Nice.
-
I am in the second batch so not sure if I will get the rom at the same time as everyone in the first batch or if I will have to wait till the 2nd batch of carts ship.
-
What are the rules for what can be done with the ROM download? I looked through their websites and didn't see anything.
-
Yeah I couldn't find any information on this in the kickstarter pledge. I doubt there are any rules they could enforce anyway.
-
They could hire Haze to ---smurfette--- about the licensing on every possible social media platform. Hell he would probably do it for free.
-
No updates this week in shipping! I have my doubts that I'll get the cart by next Thursday. :(
-
That is why you fail.
-
This is so true. :'(
I recommend setting expectations for an April 30th 11:59pm release to avoid any disappointment
Regarding the rom release. Posted 5 days ago in their KS comments page.
:dunno it dawned on me to check that...
-
I hadn't seen that comment. Thanks for sharing. Hopefully, the ROM will drop tomorrow.
-
I have just had my download link emailed me so check your inboxes guys :)

I just beat the fourth boss. The music, control, art, and level design are all fantastic and addictive. I haven't had a chance to play with 3 or 4 players yet, but this is shaping up to be one of the best NES games I've ever played.
I recommend reading the manual, too. It's hilarious.
For the steam version, assigning movement to my Xbox x360 controller's analog stick makes my mage go a little haywire, mainly failing to stop moving when you release the stick. Arcade controls through my ipac work perfectly, of course.
When you guys get your physical copies, I hope one of you shares a picture of the back of the box. I'm curious as to what they did with that.
Save states work on the Everdrive N8, as expected.

Great news that!
Not had a chance to play yet :(

The world 4 music is stuck in my head, great tune!

I finished the game. It was really good, but overall the game feels a bit light on content and gets repetitive quickly. Don't get me wrong. I enjoyed the experience, but it isn't a lot of gameplay for 9 bucks. I haven't had a chance to play with 3 or 4 players, so maybe that will make it feel a bit fresher. The end boss in particular was disappointingly bland.

Yeah, with single player it will definitely feel that way. This game shines with multiplayer, though. If you have 3 other friends into playing NES homebrews, I recommend you all sit down and give it a go in multiplayer. There's some really fun mechanics with the way the game plays with more people.

I really want to find 3 people to play this with me :)

Come on over.

We are talking about an NES game, Mike. Not buttsecks.

I'm surprised they make rubbers that tiny... >:D

I was surprised too.

One time, my parents made the mistake of bringing home some finger cots. Those went into birthday cards for the next 5 years in my household. “I had them custom made for you, happy 11th birthday! Stay safe!”
-
Lol, I can see you doing that, based on the Tortugas shirt I just got from you. :D

I wonder if towerfall would run on the NES.

I wonder if towerfall would run on the NES.
Towerfall is amazing, but on the NES it would probably be reminiscent of a bad arcade port. I'd love to see it on 16-bit hardware, though.
I've been obsessed with the Steam version, but we got a Switch for my son's birthday, so now we have the Switch 6 player version.

Jelly you can pull 6 people to play any game.
usually just me and my two boys but occasionally on holidays or parties we get 4 people who want to play.

To be honest, I'll be surprised if we get 5 or 6 for Towerfall more than once or twice and it'll probably be with my kids and their friends.
