Title: Motherboard with VGA integrated ?
Post by: nocrack on February 06, 2013, 09:12:26 am
Hello !

I've decided to buy a new motherboard, but don't want to put too much money in it. I've bought a core2duo with the motherboard.but the mobo seems dead so I need to buy a new one.
And at the moment, all I can find and afford is a dell, HP or foxcon one that was previously used in a ready build PC.
THe problem with those is that they all have a VGA chipset integrated.
I have an radeon 4550 and obviously want to use it.

Does it matter or will I get problems with groovemame trying to use it ? (I will most likely use the windows version but still think about the linux one. So ideally I'd like both to work)

Has anyone got experience (good or bad) with integrated chipset + pcie card ?

Thanks all!

Any time there is room in the cab (bartop) for a video card on the motherboard I try to use it.  It frees up memory that the integrated video shares and overall it improves the performance of the motherboard.  This is not always apparent in Mame but shows up right away when running future pinball.

As long as the integrated video is disabled, either automatically when inserting the 4550 or manually through the bios, there should be no problem.
