Title: Problems with Ati HD5570
Post by: zerozerosette on April 16, 2018, 09:12:58 am
Hello
(I am not sure this the right section, sorry if it is not) I'm having problems with this card
https://www.amd.com/en-us/products/graphics/desktop/5000/5570 (https://www.amd.com/en-us/products/graphics/desktop/5000/5570)
My card is slightly different, as it hasn't the VGA connector (instead it has a displayport connector) so I'm using a dvi to vga converter. Installation of crt emudriver went fine - I followed the tutorial for newer cards - but when I try to enable EDID emulation my arcade monitor shows the windows desktop for less than a second, then the image starts to flicker (I think the signal switches back to 31khz). Could the dvi to vga converter be a problem? Any ideas?

Thank you very much!

There are 2 analog outputs configurable in VMMaker. Make sure to point to the right one for EDID emulation.

First of all, thank you for crt_emudriver  :)
I tried changing the outputs and I think I'm using the right one (I am using output 0, if I use output 1 nothing happens)...

Try to figure out what's being output. You said you think it's 31 kHz. That should be pretty easy to determine. Plug a pc monitor, check its osd, etc.

Yes, it appears its 31khz as I can see my desktop on my lcd monitor. I don't really know where to look to debug this issue...

Here is my configuration:

How are you connecting your LCD?

The first screen is from HDMI, the second one from VGA (the monitor is the same).

In VMMaker, video card tab, "device" dropdown, one of the entries should have the "GENERIC_15" label, is that the case?

No, it's generic nonPnp monitor  :-(

Then maybe it's just EDID emulation not working on your card. This doesn't mean you can't use that card, it's only less convenient as Windows will detect the monitor as non-PNP. Just create the modes and install them, it will probably work anyway.
