Steal one of the gallon jugs of wine from your gas station. After you've finished the wine, melt 2 pounds of brown sugar into 3 and a half quarts of apple juice. Toss in 3 cinnamon sticks. 50 cents packet of bread yeast from the grocery store. Put a balloon over the neck of the bottle, poke a small hole in it. In two weeks, you'll be drinking your own hooch.Good lookin out bro
You gonna bring us a jug to ZapCon?
After doing a 3 hour daily driving commute for just over a year and a half, my wife and I decided to become suburbanites and reduce my commute drastically. We now reside a 15 mins walk from my work. Quality of life just skyrocketed, and this is the closest I’ve ever lived to my place of employment. I’m super chuffed about getting a big portion of my life back!

That's not a workshop. There isn't sawdust or tools or various parts thrown all over the place from the 8 projects you are working on at the same time. ;)lol, this is the "clean" picture with only about 15% of my stuff unpacked and most of the sawdust either in the dust collection bag or swept into a pile already. Give it a few weeks when I am full swing into the new theater and 18 sheets of MDF into building backer boxes and subwoofer enclosures... Each of the 6 subs will take 2 4x8 sheets each... I figure if I start really clean and organized I can make it a few weeks before I injure myself tripping over tools, scrap wood, and half built enclosures...
You gonna bring us a jug to ZapCon?
Add a shot of vodka to an Angry Orchard and you've basically replicated it. I did finally pick up a hydrometer so I can measure the alcohol content. I'm not sure how that's going to end up.. I'm guessing either 3% or 15%. I seem to be able to slam a lot of it without getting too wobbly or regretting it the next day. But sure, why not, if I end up coming I'll toss a plastic bottle in my checked bag.
Believe me I almost did shoot myself from that commute. It was definitely weighing heavy on our lives: a huge waste of time away from family and projects, a massive level of stress increase, and lots of money on gas let alone the mileage wear on our vehicle. After doing a 3 hour daily driving commute for just over a year and a half, my wife and I decided to become suburbanites and reduce my commute drastically. My new place is 2 min. drive from the office, but in a city you can get anywhere in 10-15 mins it isn't an extreme upgrade for me, but damn it is nice leaving for work at 7:55 and getting here with time to spare.. I could walk it in about 10 minutes, but the reality is I won't.
I would sooner shoot myself than have a 3 hour commute.. Unless I was making about a half mil a year, then it might be worth it... for a few years anyway.
Believe me I almost did shoot myself from that commute. It was definitely weighing heavy on our lives: a huge waste of time away from family and projects, a massive level of stress increase, and lots of money on gas let alone the mileage wear on our vehicle.I can imagine the gas was insane... The apartment I was living in while building the new house is just 3 miles from work and I was filling up every 12-14 days. I gassed up 2 weeks ago and still have over half a tank right now. More than half that fuel was used to go to Home Depot and Lowes over the last couple weeks. I don't think I have driven further than 2 miles from home/work since Christmas. It is so nice...
How much did your housing cost go up though? Not at all. We actually reduced our rent by 45% and I’m not spending $100 a week on gas anymore. San Francisco’s housing is absolutely ludicrous. We’re happy to be in the cleaner, cheaper, safer area in Silicon Valley now.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s still expensive in the Bay Area, but at least in Silicon Valley it’s just regular expensive rather than trust-fund-baby expensive. Plus you get more bang for the buck here. We upgraded our living space by 30% along with paying 45% less. How much did your housing cost go up though? Not at all. Wow interesting. I would have thought that getting closer to Silicon Valley would have been more expensive. :dizzy:
We pay $1,450/mo for 2,600 sq ft. It feels high but.... hey.. I only hear gunshots 2-3 times a month.
We pay $1,450/mo for 2,600 sq ft. It feels high but.... hey.. I only hear gunshots 2-3 times a month.
It's kind of the opposite here.. I was paying $1700/mo for a 1300 sq ft apartment on the edge of town in a desirable location (high for this city). I could find a similar apartment downtown for around $700/mo. But living downtown here is living in the slums. My new place only costs me $1400/mo for 3900 sq ft., but I had to put down my life savings to get it down to that. My last house was costing me $1k/mo for ~2300 sq ft. I could have rented that old house out for around $1800/mo if I had kept it, but it was 50 years old and despite a full renovation and tons of upgrades, it had 50 year old house problems that I got sick of dealing with.We pay $1,450/mo for 2,600 sq ft. It feels high but.... hey.. I only hear gunshots 2-3 times a month.
I'm only on the fringe of the SF Bay area and $1450/mo will get you a studio or if lucky a 1 bd room. ~500 sq/ft maybe. It's $3K+ for 2600 sq ft.
Houston froze over again. They shut everything down.
There has to be an easier way to make 200 dollars than begging. ;DHa ha, no worries. Thanks for watching. I can't wait to release the Dominux 8 one this Friday...
You know I give YouTubers a bunch of crap. I have to say I like your videos for their content and for your presentation. I have only watched a couple so far so that opinion could change. ;)
Any crap I sling your way, Del, is in jest.
Houston froze over again. They shut everything down. I spent my morning playing Dragon Warrior in bed. It ruled.

I picked up a new cab for my arcade room. No lucky deals here. This is the most I have paid for a machine by double.
Sometimes you just have to pay.

The side art is a little rough. The coin button annoys me, and will be removed. All of my machines take quarters.
The game plays great and the monitor is beautiful.
Your state is like 5 miles wide. How short can that drive possibly get?
yeah, I wish I didnt work at Chrysler for a decade, I'd be much further along in my IT career now. c'est la vie.
This new place is acting like they want to groom me to take over the lead in a few years, we'll see. For now, more money for pinball games!

Pinball? GTFO.
Come get it.
Well just about every table is "eh" except games like Star Trek: TNG.
Come get it.
I'll pay for shipping or for you to bring it here

You just lost all credibility with anything pinball related.
Does not compute.
You can like the older tables all you want, but they didn't sell nearly as well as the DMD based machines of the 90's
You can chill, help me adjust the switches on Comet, and figure out why the Star Gate ramps on SFII are still functionally retarded. It'll be a blasty blast! And more Zapcon money!

Not really. TNG is one of the most popular pinball tables of all time. The fact that you don't know that.... You can like the older tables all you want, but they didn't sell nearly as well as the DMD based machines of the 90's

You clearly have no idea what I do, or do not know. And should probably stop assuming so.
The golden era of pinball was long over before DMD came around.
When talking about "popular" pins... STTNG is never brought up. It's good, I enjoy it. But it is not nearly as popular as TAF, MM, TZ, etc...
I did see a STTNG rotting away in a forest in Leadville, CO several years ago... Naff.
Sorry man, but if you don't hear your pinball friends talking about TNG then find new friends. Just doing a random google search: https://pinside.com/pinball/top-100 (https://pinside.com/pinball/top-100) I believe it's up there in one of the top selling machines of all time as well. If you don't like it then that is fine, but it is an objectively popular table, meaning you are in the minority so please don't pretend that it isn't popular. There you have it folks, narcissism at it's core. Howard's school of friendships: if they don't agree with your tastes, get rid of them. ::)

I went to a pinball league match Tuesday night. It was fun.

Did you play or spectate? All these years of running dart leagues, pinball leagues baffle me...
Every machine has its certain charms, and doesn't need to validated by anyone.... Buy what you can afford and play what you like, don't ever give it a second thought.
Deadlifted 315lbs today. I think that means I could lift most of you now.
I miss his projects, dude needs to make some more Cowboys cabinets.
Here we watch Garth Brooks ritualistically slaughter modern country music. 80,000 people sing along.
On the other hand, his band was diverse, and his lyrics aren't preachy or chest thumping patriotic....
:dunno

Straight bar, got it up 4 times.
At 225, I usually do 4 sets of 7 reps. Guy that trained me wasn’t fan of single max lifts. Deadlifts and squats every damn day with that guy. Now that I’ve sent him back to his home planet Mexico, I’m working more on upper body. Bench press and bicep curl weights are pathetic.
I know an ex NFL player in his 70s that deadlifts 500lb several times a week. Keeps my ego in check.
I didn't mind my enclosed kitchen until I started entertaining lots of people regularly. I usually cook for my guests because I enjoy it. My friends end up crowding into the kitchen to talk. Opening up the kitchen will solve that problem for me.They will just go and find a different closed off room to gather in.. like the laundry room or something.
Am I the only one that hates open concept kitchens? Apparently.Im with you brother. I rock a nice 4'×4' kitchen
You're supposed to be at work during the day, slave... :whap :whap
Nice. I played the crap out of that game in the arcade.
I never had enough quarters to git gud on that game in the arcades. And it plays like ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- with alternative controls.
:'(
If you don't post a build thread I might cry.
One of those in working condition popped up on craigslist near me for a crap ton of money. I was still tempted.
You know, when I got into this hobby you could get cabinets for a little bit of nothing but I was a kid and didn't have any money. Now anything halfway interesting starts at 1k.
If you don't post a build thread I might cry.
It doesn’t use LED buttons, It doesn’t have a dynamic monitor, It’s not running a Pi, and it’s not Cuphead related. I’m sure the peanut gallery would be thrilled.

Same here. It makes me sad to think about all the deals I passed on years ago. Same goes with PCBs. Back then, If I had known my cabinets better, I could have had a killer collection just by farming out the converted cabs that went for nothing and buying their PCB on ebay.
Yeah. I love pinball and I don't know if I will ever break into that market. It is just too expensive.
If you’re handy and patient you can rebuild and flip your way up to some pretty decent pins. 800-1k initial investment and repair costs spread over months as hobby expenditures. I usually make 500-1000 on pin flips. It’s amazig what you can do to the price just by making all the lights work.Awesome that you'd volunteer to fix my bad wear spot on my T2 when you move to DC. I appreciate it. I'll buy you some beer for your time.
Oh, shut it. I've been hearing that "it's out there, you're just looking in the wrong place!" shtick for almost 20 years. Thrifty nickle, ebay, craig's list, and countless others I've forgotten are always deemed the 'wrong' place. Is there a conference where you people teach other all these stupid just-so stories?

Unless you are a jobless person aimlessly driving around town on your cell phone refreshing Criagslist every single day...then there are ZERO deals left in this world.
The competition to score even a "fair price" is so fierce that I have given up imagining that I'll ever get a "deal".
These days... it's hard enough to even find the game you actually want with "cash in hand"....let alone find a deal. LOL
At this point, I've just resigned myself to the fact that I'll be satisfied if I can get anything (literally anything) for less than $700 anymore.
I've realized there are a LOT of hoarders in this hobby....and when you actually convince them to finally let go of their 4th Galaga machine....they are gonna make you pay for it.
I’m sure the masses of frenzied collectors rushing to get that 8 Ball were envious of your haul.Could be, whos to say, When was the last time you seen one?, Could be it was such a miserable game, they are all but extinct today, and Jenn just bought the last one. ::).....

I drug a lot of ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- up from Colorado from CL back in the day. Quite a few freebies... Including a fully working Asteroids. Most I ever paid for a non-pin game from Colorado was $170 for Gorf I won on ebay. Pulled two Skeeball machines from Leadville for $200. Sorry VJ... I took a lot of the low hanging fruit back in the day... Well, not sorry. >:D
Oh please, Jenn just bought a game two weeks ago (8 ball) with a monitor in it even. And it only cost 50.00, (and a 8 gal keg), for the mover boys, to haul it up out the basement for me, Don't know if it even works yet,....And that deal came to me, I don't even go look for them anymore, got Wayyyyyy too many already,..... They are still out there, though, and got to agree with Howard on this.
Not to mention Yots, We were talking about finding good deals in the wild, Not pick of the litter premium at some phoenix vender love fest.... What has always worked well for me, Is, knowing how to be a good buyer. folks know what they have, but you don't know what they have access to, (or hidden in the garage) So next time you try to lowball someone think.... Just think man.
Don't know what a 720 is toad, whats that some dope thing?.... ALL games are desirable, some people would be grateful for a cab, any cab.... And when that dumb game to your upper crust snob, finds a good home Jennifer will see they get what they want.....D/bag.

So anyway, I’m almost down with a Hypersports restore I’m doing for a friend of mine. It’s been a fun restore, my buddy John is a good guy.
I’m also restoring a Dynamo. This one has been a great learning experience in regards to learning how to resurface. It will be making an appearance at ZapCon as Yie-Ar Kung Fu. I have eventual plans for it, though, post-show.

FTFY, its Yie-ar Kung Fu
Is Hyper Sports the one with the trackballs?
Finally, I’m excited to take this Crazy Kong cabaret and make it special.
It definitely needs AimTraks... and a keyboard drawer.
Also make sure it folds up into a dresser.

As long as the outer joysticks are angled in.
“Hey Mike, when you’re in town, you wanna come over and play some games on my dresser?”
I don't need to know you, or your history, I can see in the pics your tape lines are crooked, your sandpaper was gummed up and left uneven scratch marks, Cabs were not painted grey as an undercoat,(that will leave a grey bullseye someday when it gets scratched or dinged, Digging a cab out of the garbage doesn't automatically give you credibility, that's not even your game (Id be embarrassed as a friend/customer to see that splashed all over on the interwebs) probably spray cans anyway, And little thought to the fact a real restoration will outlive you into the future.Don't know what a 720 is toad, whats that some dope thing?.... Ok, I’m done with you. You just want to hear yourself talk.
You don’t know me, you don’t know my history, you don’t know what I do with restoring games. I’ve saved games from dumpsters. So keep assuming things, lady. We’re finished here.
I think she like you Yots.

Thanks! Naval Jelly...I need to pick some of that up. I have a super rusty Nintendo PCB mounting plate I need to clean up.
That's good stuff. I have a few power supplies in need of similar treatment. Thanks.
Design team signature plaques on the bezel, or GTFO...
I think she like you Yots.Of course I do, From humble beginnings, to the awesome you see today,....I know what he up against(multiple game on a timeline), I know the frustration of success, I know what hes capable of doing, I know I wont sleep until that last pic comes over the wire and I also know hes not trashing some old game I found, But needing some of Jenns horrible mouth to drive this to the finish line....Yes I would fall on the sword for a friend.
Hey howard, I was cruising my FB feed the other day, oh must have been on Sundayish and I saw somebody post a video of their FiFjr build on Carolina Arcade page...all confused to ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- about what the game was doing. Must have been because of Easter ;) I lol'd and thought of you.

I have a Naomi with a Netdimm that I’m not using yet. Want to make a multiracer, but not sure if I have the right cables.
Don’t I need an analog cable? I’m trying to hook it up in my MS Atomiswave setup
I have the JAMMA I/O board.
Do they play Galaga?
Why an LCD? is the monitor broken? Open Pandora outputs 15Hz and can even play console games (@15Hz). Its also kinda neat it'll barn door vertical games
Dude, he’s effing with you.I just wanted to show off my Open Pandora, even if I already sold the cab
Because LCD's are better. I figure I will mount it horizontally. There aren't any vertical 6 player games. Is 37 buttons per player enough? I know players 3,4,5, and 6 probably only need 26 buttons each so I can save some money there. I will need the extra cash for the power supply required to light up all 189 buttons. No fishtank? go pound sand you ---smurfing--- pleb.

Kind of sucks that our hobby has morphed into a marketable product.
No man that's not what I'm talking about. When I first got into this hobby the closest thing to a consumer level product were keyboard encoders like the i-pac and they had just came out. If you wanted a mame/emulation setup you either converted a cab or built one and you would get zero help from the industry. So it was a hobby... building the cabinet and setting it up was the hobby. Now there are commercial front-ends, patreon funded emulators, ready made arcade sticks and now stuff like Pandora where you essentially just buy a turn-key mame setup. That is all about crazy.....Just because someone makes someting doesn't mean it's over, You can still do it to,That and all that prefab attracts a whole new crowd.
It's at a point to where it isn't necessarily cost-effective to even bother doing things from scratch anymore. So there isn't much hobby left in the hobby.
So you're pissed at people with vision, like RandyT and Haruman, who've turned their hobby into a source of income.
That's when the hobby has come full circle for an individual... They found something they enjoy doing... Then they found a way to make money doing it.... CRUCIFY THEM!!!
Maybe you should quit while you are ahead before I get angry.
I kinda get what H_C is saying, my standpoint is that now-a-days it's gotten much more commercialized than when I started in the hobby. But the thing is, there was always a present marketable angle to this hobby. Without it the hobby wouldn't have progressed. Guys like Andy (Ultimarc), Randy(GroovyGameGear), even John/Saint has benefited from marketing this hobby, and vendors have been supplying solutions for getting our projects completed for a long time now. Mind, they're not all-in-one solutions like we have now, but the point is there was always a commercial/marketable side to this hobby. It's just more prevalent and larger scoped these days due to more and more people getting into the scene. To say that this is a new thing is naive.
Using those all-in-one solutions for eliminating the software setup of things is a trade-up. Building your own PC based emulation rig is still the best option out of all these solutions. PC set-ups still have the best compatibility, emulation options, and less lag and display problems than what you can get in a pandora box, for example. Yes, these Pandora boxes can output arcade resolutions, but the emulation is sub-par. The video modes are not accurate, especially in CPS2/3 (image cropping persists), have weird filters applied, and any vertical game being crunched down and forced to be displayed in horizontal orientation looks really bad. Not to mention the shearing and inaccurate video timings. Even input lag is bad on these emulation devices.
Re: the lack of "hobby" in the hobby H_C was getting at, I think he's just focused on the interfacing with emulation, where I think it's worse than just these all-in-one solutions. It relates to what a lot of the older members here have been saying, there's a lack of innovation in projects these days. There are a bunch of factors that have contributed to this, but I mainly blame the pre-cut CNC kits that are available today (sorry Lee, I still <3 you though!) and not these all-in-one boards like the Pandora's box, or the 60in1's.
Gone are the days where you'd see new designs being made on a frequent basis. I would say maybe a year before I joined, around 2007 to about 2010 was the sweet spot for innovated, new projects that were progressing the hobby with fresh ideas and solutions. Great themed cabinets were being made then, with unique shapes, interesting control solutions, and real DIY problem solving. Now-a-days you have a very small handful of people still doing this, but for the most part your average joe-shmo just getting into the hobby now is going to just buy a pre-built cabinet kit, slap on some "photochopped" mismatched artwork on it, fit an all-in-one software solution into them and be happy with that. Either that or they just copy that ---fracking--- Flynn cabinet, which is propagating that poorly designed CP every single time.
The hobby has definitely become "vanilla", but the problem isn't really the marketable/commercialization of it, the problem is the hobbyists are a different breed/age-group now. People are lazier these days, or fearful of failure that they take the easy short-cuts to get a functional cabinet put together. Or they lack vision or the experience of the old arcade days (I'm looking at you, millennial trendsters). It's like the hobby lost it's edge. There is no real pre-thought put into their themes, or any forethought on where they see their projects sitting 10+ years from now.
Honestly I just want the unique designs, cabinet shapes and themes to come back. Something that as a whole is cohesive and complete. Not these samey half-assed pre-cut cabinets and bartops we keep seeing posted these days. Whenever I see those projects threads I can't help but think "why even bother posting a thread for this?".
My UPS rep brought donuts to my office today.

Every Friday we get donuts in the morning, then beer at 5pm (usually a choice of 3 beers). It’s part of the perks of working at a game studio. Stay in school, and work hard to follow your dreams, kids.
I met an *actual* Dupont today. He was actually a pretty great guy, or fakes it well.Did he ask you if you wanted to wrestle?
Well if you're part-owner, then I'd say you win this round. I'd love to be an owner of a company, preferably a game studio. Being your own boss, that's the American dream right? My UPS rep brought donuts to my office today.I got you beat.

It's salary, bro. So yes, they pay me for drinking beer during that time, and yes we try to talk about something other than work (but being a company of gaming geeks, we mainly talk about games we played, or movies/tv we watch, nerd stuff etc...)Every Friday we get donuts in the morning, then beer at 5pm (usually a choice of 3 beers). Do they pay you for that time you spend drinking beer? Do you manage to actually talk about something besides work while you stand there with coworkers?
So, congrats, you probably gave away $200 worth of your time for $20 worth of beer.

Tomorrow for Sober Sunday ...
I personally know two men that sawed off fingers cutting boards while having a beer. I’ve already spent an Easter having metal scraped out of my eye. Don’t mess around with power tools, son.
Jennifer gets a new Tron machine today....
Somebody doesn't like Tron :o, Im guessing it because they weigh as much as a station wagon and ALWAYS have to go up the stairs, (this one apparently even hasn't seen daylight for overr 25 years)....Guess its the wrong time to mention Jenn has 2 more around here someplace
Today I feel good, I have successfully completed 20 Years of Married Life and still want to spend time with my wife. Now if only I could stop her spending all my money I may be able to start saving for a renewal ceremony in 5 years time when we get to Silver wedding anniversary and turn 50 in the same 4 week period. Woot, Looking forward to that party :)Congratulations! Marriage is difficult, although I imagine it is easier when you actually like your wife...
Oh and I finally got the Garden finished, I'll never have to mow again :)

I hope your mom's recovery is going well.
The Roy Clark pin has chimes and stuff, which are cool, but I want to add some sounds to spice it up. Ol’ Roy is a great guitar player, and I thought it would be cool to add sound to things like coin up, game start, and some of the targets.

Adafruit makes several no programming sound FX boards.

These two look rather promising.

Too bad it doesn't award free games, you could cue it up to play "If I had to do it all over again"

Jenn is NOT a pinhead :badmood:....(But she sure does like them)....I never have been a big believer in mods, It sounds fun, but at the end of the day its not original, especially on a game like that, its not your high production desirable machine as mandated by the "Top 100" boston dork squad , and of what was built most likely many didn't get the love to survive.... I would get yourself a trauma machine and live on the edge of insanity.

They don't change the gameplay any and frequently clutter up the view, I'm not really a fan of them.I was worried about the T1000 blocking the view, but he doesn't. My next "mod" for T2 is a custom translight. This time instead of just snagging images from the googlez like I did for T2, I hired Opt2Not to bring my vision to life :)

Yeah, I just want to play with some sounds. It’s not like I’m gonna put a 3D printed cast of Hee-Haw on the damn play field. :-)I would have issue with Mods (That's not much of a secret) easily revisable my foot, Jenn has spent enough time analyzing poor workmanship to know better....BUT.... Yots isn't just some doorstop who shouldn't be told what not to do, So....Jenn would seriously get a small analog scope (around 25mhz) and learn something real in the process should you decide to do this, That and copy the manual so you can document all the changes without destroying the original paperwork.

No ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---.
Well not to worry then I will tell you all about it now .... Problem usually isn't not just 1 mod but the whole list, and then probably some red powdercoating, and my personal favorite that stupid key start switch, So you can physically take your key with you when your done and nobody can play your precious game unless your standing there supervising, But then You buy a game like that, (which was NEVER reversed back I might add) and have to spend untold hours archiving the darn thing, throw handfuls of stupid into the trash, And finally have to go source NEW parts and spend yet more money on a game you haven't even played yet, only to find that DMD is like 400.00 and on backorder, but it doesent matter much, because some idiot chopped into the wire harness to add some extra cool lighting and it will take at least a week to fix that anyway, provided they didn't drill a hole in the playfield to do so....And when you finally get it close to beings done, you flip a board over only to find EVERY solder joint on it was "reflowed" improperly with a massive branding iron type tool apparently that's how to fix problems and bullet proof things is really done.... But that's of NO concern to to me because its not my game I don't care, If you want to glue a rubber weiner to Jokers face go for it, Just don't walk around telling me how its worth more because of all this newfound awesome. Because again at my house it ALL GOES INTO THE TRASH.I would have issue with Mods (That's not much of a secret) easily revisable my foot,
Unscrewing the 3 nuts holding in the T1000 , popping the plate back on, and putting the same 3 nuts back on isn't considered "easily reversible"?
Peeling off the chrome stickers to the top of a pop bumper cap isnt easy to do?
Swapping a DMD back into place is impossible?
changing out the translight of a pin cant be undone!?!?
Oh man, why didn't you tell me this before I put the new instruction cards over top of the old ones on the apron, I didn't know it was permanent!

My point was reversible mods are possible, everything I did is easily reversible, and Im sure Yotzie isnt going to do anything that can't be undone.
That is quite true, And to say otherwise would make Jennifer a hypocrite, Simply because I do like upgrades, well done and tasteful that is.... Sitting here thinking, I only have a few pins, (12) but they all have some kind of reversible mod...Jenns hot mess is almost embarrassing in that light :-[
High maintenance? They go for years once I get them 100%. ::)Of course they exist, And the REAL pbj would know that because at one time he didn't believe Jennifer had over a 100 games (Triple digits), and HE called them "Old junk" when I tried to show them.
Anyway, nice lineup. Hope it actually exists.
What's the latest Shadow alternative translite? I've seen a few versions. Problem with those is the speaker panel needs to be redone, too. It's incredible how much the translite ruins that game. Alec starts to feel oppressive in a small game room. Demolition Man didn't bother me nearly as much.
Used to play the absolute crap out of Last Action Hero. Probably the only game I’ve played where I knew the scoring so well I knew when to let the balls drain so I could maximize replays and extra balls. Translite never bothered me on that one but the movie is terrible. Been very weird to see people online going with the “ahead of its time” routine.
I’ve thrown ridiculous offers at them but never taken one home. :-\
My buddy has a Last Action Hero... Talk about a Translite that ruins a game! Luckily he got the alternative Trans. So much better!Street Fighter II still has the worst pinball translight

Some old pulls and some fresh spray paint.... good to go.Those are not all dripping like they have chlamydia.... Nice job.
I woke up at 5am and finally completed Horizon Zero Dawn. :applaud:
Zapcon and Q*bert made it to their new home in CT! They need some attention, but they survived the trip 8)
Is that your Multi Q, Yots?It was >:D

My mom and dad are the money bags. It is their pool. ;D
He should buy a jet ski.LOL, my siblings are always hitting up the old man to buy things that only they want to use.
Jenn, I gotta say, you have a lot of neat toys. Do you live in or next to a retro parts warehouse?Retro? Not really how DaOldJenn feels about that (*laughs nerviously)....I did however downsize considerably a few years ago and it's been a very, very difficult adjustment. Most notably in the fabrication, screenprinting, and plating areas,.
I got this lil beauty this week.
Been after one for sometime but I couldn’t resist this one!
And I got these signed by John Romero :)

Neo Geo CD, Drool, Drool. I couldn't afford one when released and I'm not sure I could validate spending on one now, But damn what a piece of kit.
Love the Signed pops too.
Made a Pi Cart today. After careful consideration I decided to use a Pi.
Downloaded a premade image, took out the stupid ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- like rom hacks, hid all the configuration options and put it in kiosk mode. Frankly fairly pleased with the end result.
Also hooked up a powered subwoofer to my World Cup Soccer 94 machine. Totally stupid but eh.

Would love a AES to but they even more expensive!!
Would love a AES to but they even more expensive!!
I actually sold not 1 but TWO AES consoles and a butt ton of games. A consolized 1 slot is a better choice (with a unibios its the same as having a home system) I dont have a big red but I go have a 2 slot cab I restored rocking a 1 slot board and a darksoft MultiMVS.
These things are pretty neat. Nice job.

I *had* a big red, a few years ago. Ive restored 3 2slots, and kept the last one:

Oh and I beat Bare Knuckle 3, just made me wanna play beats of rage again. Super Axel is like cheating, Skate/Sammy is still the funnest regular player and I just love playing as Victy/Roo. I could beat normal without continuing, but I *really* hate the time limit on the final boss.
WTF are you two on about?
WTF are you two on about?
Why is Bare Knuckle 3 preferable?

Thanks! Apparently the only thing the old, fat people care about around here is arguing about Star Wars.
In true Pi fashion, it randomly crashed and corrupted half the gamelist.xml files. Beautiful.
Why is Bare Knuckle 3 preferable?
It only took like $2,000 but now I have a laptop that can run Gauntlet Legends.... 99%.
Pbj, don’t you think it’s time to own the actual board by now?

I'm a YOUNG 39, and I'm also down 25lbs and at a svelte 198lbs now. Keto and exercise is no joke.
is the popeye still for sale?
Is it sturdy enough to hump on?
And its portable too which makes it nice, so you can go work outside on a nice day too....
Jennifer laughs, I just don't see the point of windows, you want to go outside, just open the door and do it.... But doesn't mean I got piles of sawdust knee deep in my kitchen either, I do go outside to cut wood. ::)And its portable too which makes it nice, so you can go work outside on a nice day too....
Kinda defeats the purpose of boarding up your windows, doesn't it?

This was supposed to be Malenko’s, but the motherscratcher never made it to ZapCon...
Ah yes, the "now what?" stage of Lego model ownership.

Have you ever even seen a real old school slot shop?.... They were not just some band of happy idiots. with "Welcome" on the front door.QuoteI just don't see the point of windows
Are you sure you are human? I mean really. Have you thoroughly checked?
I was finally able to put an order in for one of these last weekend. Unfortunately I think my Dreamcast is a VA0 version which isn’t compatible with the GDEMU. I will probably have to buy a VA1 and sell my current machine. I’d like to get one with a really nice box anyway, so it’s a good excuse to pick up another unit. Lol! :) Does your machine have a 3D printed tray to keep the card from falling in? It looks like there’s one on there.
Thanks for the info Titchgamer. Is there a specific site you would recommend with information about adding the resistor for the 12v line? And what about the file for the 3D tray? Did you use the one on Thingiverse? I don’t have a printer, but there’s a place in town that will print one for me if I provide the file...
Been wanting this game for a loooooong time, finally got it for a great price!I'm soooo jealous! I've wanted one for quite a while myself.

lol no. I drove an F150 for 11 years until it started leaking everything simultaneously. Now I drive a fartbox that can barely hold a folded up pinball machine.

It was a fantastic day today. We spent all day in the pool. Then capped it off with a boat ride and a fireworks show on the lake. Some days are just damn near perfect.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180701/ed00f7b46bae9897d1c6831d8bb82826.jpg)

Oh my that's just a wall of scary, I got/had a 750watt Yamaha that just blew up in testing on Halloween sound tracks, Jenn will have to look into that seeings how I will be needing some witch cackle and chains sounds pretty soon.... I would LOVE to see the rest of that pile, you know like amps and such (please?)Here's a couple from a couple months back.
Oh andI cant see where your missing the 2 subs either ::)2 more going in the back of the room. Short and squatty but the same internal volume, same 18" drivers, and same power to them as the others. Also not pictured is the 4 Atmos speakers and 4 surround speakers, each are DIYSG Volt 10lx's, 10" midbass drivers with coaxially mounted internal waveguides and compression drivers for the highs. All the speakers were built in my shop, with only the drivers and SEOS waveguides purchased (all DIYSoundGroup kits). Subs are Dayton UM18-22's from Parts Express, and each one takes about 2.5 sheets of 3/4" MDF and weigh close to 300 lbs each.

Got my copy of Apocalypse Culture II. As I previously thought, someone has already uploaded the entire text of the Roy Shildt article to the internet, but it's missing the photos. I've saved you $15 and attached one of the highlights.
Jenn has always had a strange attraction to Stunt cycle,.... Never did ever really play it much however, cause the thing would suck up quarters just as fast as you could feed it, and Mom would only usually give me $5.00, which had to last like all night (including all the other things a young girl needs ::)) **fun fact, soda pop was only .35** pinball was usually the go to for stretching quarters, .... Just kinda curious if you can actually make it work like one would think it should?
Bronze age? OMG, and here I am talking about it like it was yesterday.... Stunt Cycle, Happy Days, giant speakers, Mr. Awesome.... This thread is really hitting it off on all Chuff cylinders today.

Got hooked on Adventure on the 2600. So hooked, I even did this....
A 1952 Craftsman Jointer.
The guy who gave it to me has a whole shop full of old tools that he uses everyday. His band saw is huge and it is older than the jointer. Next time I am over there I will take some tool porn pics for Jennifer.**SMOOCH ::)).... Oh how I miss my vintage industrial equipment, I never should have downsized, the weight and quality of old cast iron just cant be duplicated in the big box store. The milling machine in particular hit me the hardest still even today, late in the nights Jennifer walks by the empty spot and misses her old friend, And thinks of all the fun things we did together..... My jointer however was downsized to a Rockwell 4",that has some sentimental attachment, and is so tiny and cute its really hard not to love it, although the rebuild took 6mos. and with the custom stand build was a bit spendy (more so than just buying a new Jet 6" long bed) But Jenn would do still do that again today, given it can now shave wood as thin as paper. and don't really need a big one anymore.

Embrace and celebrate (or be "chuffed" by, if you prefer baby-talk) the diversity of humor in the world!
Drake, I don't want to know why you thought the joke was funny; just what the text of the joke was. Tough to tell if humor aligns if you're aloof to what the joke was.
Edit: Best I can tell the joke is that Paul and Mike are homosexual? Is that the joke?
Do you know why the scarecrow won employee of the year?
Because he was out standing in his field.
That's funny.
I still say that nobody has ever beaten Crossed Swords ever. I played that damn game almost 2 hours once and no end in sight.

Chuff is of British origin and the word has been around since 1860. Its a colloquial phrase common to Brits and has recently become part of the American lexicon.

My dad swears by pomegranate juice as causing a huge reduction in the frequency and severity of migraines. I knew some scientists studying it 10 years ago and turned him on to it.Yeah! It's the antioxidants, pomegranates are loaded with 'em. It's another one of those power-foods (like Honey, Avocados, Ginger, Turmeric).
You can buy the concentrate and dump a tablespoon in iced tea once a day and it's actually quite good. Might be worth a shot for $15.

How... Chuffy...
Chuffed! because I've been invited to check out a private collector’s pinball and pop culture collection. If he lets me, I'll take some pics. I have no contacts for pinball machines here in Aussie land but this guy has many. Maybe I can get myself some old broken down thing and fix it up. Surely that wouldn’t be that expensive a project?
Owning just one pinball machine would be a whole new world for me. But I'm wary of buying shiny things that just end up on ebay. I'll have you guys to advise me when I'm ready to part with the cash.

Pinball is so damn pricey, especially great pinball. I am slowly saving for my second Pinball machine because one is not enough.
Got Q*bert downstairs today. :) I'll get the monitor fixed properly some day, but for now at least it's where it belongs.
Looks great, Jim! What’s up with the monitor? Thanks! I just updated my thread (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,158056.0.html) on the monitor's color problem. Half of the color range is stuck full-on. As is frequently the case, half-working is proving harder to diagnose than not-working-at-all.

I'm going to salvage various parts from the projector TV. Mainly the screen and some of the optics. The projectors in them were rubbish so not interested in them even if they work.
I want to cut up the screen and use part of it for a table top gaming platform. Some small parts will go into my RoToron project also. The unit is just on the curb with some other junk at the front of someones place. The raid is on for tonight, I'll dress in black and approach with headlights off.
Then I'll knock on the door and politely ask if I can cart it away :lol Wish me luck.
IPA? Why don't you just drink a Natural Light, piss in a bottle, drink the piss, and piss that out into a bottle. You will still have a better beer than any IPA. That crap is a crime against beer.
You probably hate cilantro, too.
Anyway, apparently IPAs, double IPAs, sours, and hazy wheat ipas are old and busted and brut ipa is the new hotness. Houston has so many breweries now it's unbelievable and this whole thing is going to crash and burn hard.
But, hey. $12.50 a class, why the hell not.
It is like drinking a bottle of perfume. I can drink pretty much anything. IPAs are the only beer I really hate to drink.
I love cilantro, just not in my beer.
Give me Belgian anything, including Blue Moon.
Enjoy it while it lasts, all it's going to take is chubby girls cutting carbs out of our diets again to kill it.
And, yes, craft beer is a total fad. How many martini and cigar bars you seeing nowadays? That ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- was everywhere 10-12 years ago. Enjoy it while it lasts, all it's going to take is chubby girls cutting carbs out of our diets again to kill it.
Finally sat down and beat Sega Spiderman for what I think is the first time ever.
God, what a turd.
Alien Vs Predator is probably the best one.
Don't ask me why but I love this type of game. The whole FF, TMNT, XMen, yadda yadda. Just found out the other day they made one that was based on Alien vs Predator. Mind numbing, side scrolling violence.
No love for Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon? :'(
Played through Punisher while pumping my little legs on an exercise bike. I'd peg it top of mid tier in the genre. Too many weapons flopping around everywhere but it's fun. Craps all over Spider-Man.
No mention of Sunset Riders yet? That was my fav. That’s not a brawler.

But, which Sunset Riders version is better the Arcade, or SNES?
I only ask because the port of Turtles in Time is vastly superior to its arcade counterpart.

Eh by that logic neither is Moo Mesa....
Most people seem to think the SNES version is, again, the superior port. I don't have a dog in this fight though so I couldn't tell you from personal experience.
Disney sucks. Go to Universal Studios.Damn bro thats harsh. I had a good time when I took my daughter to Disney World last year. I don't do good in crowds and expected to be on edge the whole time but it was fun. Next time I am getting the wrist bands. We could only fast track three attractions at a time.

I been to Fiesta Texas. The lazy river was a madhouse.

Ok how about Busch Gardens? They have a good park as well. tbh though I can't think of a single good park that doesn't have crazy long lines, Disney included.Yep going over to Busch, gonna do their howl and scream, front of line pass so don't care too much about the queues, booked a hotel over the road for the night coz I'll probably have too much to drink whilst there too, may actually have the balls to go on Sheikra in the dark this year, Cheetah run was bad enough after a few last year.
I redid an IDE hard drive cable tonight. Pulled one out of a 15 year old PC in a scrap pile. Had to remove, flip, and reclamp one of the connectors. Been a good 10 years or so...Do you test continuity for your cables? Or just wing it? I plug mine into headers and test each pin one by one with it’s neighbouring pins. It’s tedious and perhaps there’s an easier way, but I’m paranoid about my crimps being off.
I like that one, the art is fantastic all around, and the shooting works because the pace of the game is pretty quick.
I also like the NES version, even though it’s a completely different game. Tough as nails though.

And here I was all proud of myself for clamping it in a vise instead of going side to side with a pair of pliers like back in the old days. Dude, crimp and test it by plugging it in. The pin layout is such that it's fry proof.Yeah, I still clamp them with a pair of pliers. Which is why I am paranoid about the pins shorting. But maybe you're right, I should just roll with it and see if it works or not.
Also added this to my porch. We're emerging from our air conditioned cocoons in Houston.
Finally got my favorite Pearl Jam poster framed. I'm quite pleased.
I bought the poster as the show on May 21, 2010 at MSG (notice the high score) and the setlist (https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/pearl-jam/2010/madison-square-garden-new-york-ny-63d4d29f.html) was awesome. Coincidentally my youngest daughter was born on the same day 2 years later so the poster has even more meaning to us. Looks great in the basement with some other concert posters and arcade cabs.

Nice framing and matting on both of those. Did you do it yourself or have it done?
So turns out Gauntlet Legends was released on Dreamcast and runs 100% on my 6 year old computer.
Oops.
I've been very reluctant to bring up the NFL this year. Primarily because the Cowboys are lousy with no end in sight, but also because what I used to call society's secular glue has become political. Oh well, Aggies are looking better.

12 hours of standing on my feet and playing pinball.
There were a few Deadpools there but I didn't play it. I've more or less lost all interest in modern Sterns. They've gotten very same-y and the super hero themes do nothing for me.Im not a big Deadpool fan, but the table was fun. Honestly the only other Super Hero game I like is IronMan but that too is well outside of "Malenko Money".
12 hours of standing on my feet and playing pinball.
Have you tried Deadpool yet? I played it at the white rose show, it was actually REALLY fun. Was impossible to hear the sound/music/voice but the table had lots of shots and modes. First table in a long time that made me wish I could afford a NIB pin.
Is that last pic the Wand of Gamelon?
This made my day. My daughter specifically picked out these gourds at a pumpkin patch because they looked like the ghosts from Pac Man. She then painted them to match.
Guess these painted pumpkins are a "thing" this year on the female internet. If you kid doesn't grow up with scars on their hand from a slipped knife from carving a pumpkin you have failed as a parent.
No pic = no pumpkin
Not sure how I feel about all this...
Made me feel like the hobby has jumped the shark, to be honest. Those TV joysticks didn't help matters, the 99 cent apps on our phones made it worse, and now I see a shelf of stuff like that and wonder, "what's the point?" Nobody is buying any of that crap, either. Contemplating driving down to Galveston and throwing my latest project off the bridge.
It doesn't bring anyone into the hobby, all it does it kill prices. $2,000 for a Ms Pacman cabinet, or $20 for a miniature one that's close enough and you'll be tired of in a week? Those TV joysticks killed the value of those classics overnight. The bitching was unreal at arcade shows that year.... The get a $300 Ms Pac, fix the board, cap the monitor, throw $400 decals on it, and flip it for a $1,000 profit days were over. :lol
I appreciate your input, but next time think it through before you respond.

I don’t know why you always gotta end with throwing shade in your responses. I’ve been making an effort to be cool with you, but you make it really difficult with quips like this.
Godspeed.
I'm just hoping nobody buys me any of that crap for Christmas.

At Thanksgiving dinner, my nephew was mocking the 1up cabinets for being so small and only having a few games on them. ;D

I thought galaga was 4 way. Had to bondo that up for the spade bit, and shagged up the CP up a bit.
I thought galaga was 4 way. Had to bondo that up for the spade bit, and shagged up the CP up a bit.
Galaga and Galaxian were always 2 way - wasn't until a bit later the games based on them ( ie. Gorf) began using 8 way sticks to move forward and backward as well as to the sides. Then with the Anniversary machines they released with Ms. Pacman/Galaga they went with 4 way for Ms. pacman and Pacman so that might be where you are thinking it came with a 4-way.
Oh BTW Dillards are now selling the Asteroids Version in their stores.
I got the 1up galaga for 299 and wallyworld goofedup my order so I got 50 bucks back for the trouble.Don't mind asking did you figure out which wire is ground on the joystick all I see is 2 blacks and 2 yellows.
I assembled it yesterday. Played one game and the joystick broke. Stuck a wico leaf joystick. Some bright spark put a slot for the joystick making it a two way. I thought galaga was 4 way. Had to bondo that up for the spade bit, and shagged up the CP up a bit. Added two service buttons and wired them all to the gpio on the pi.
With the LCD daughter board and some spare bits, made it a nice cabaret for less than $50. That riser was a bit of a rip off. The steam link was overkill, besides the pi can stream too.
How much can I flog it for?
Don't mind asking did you figure out which wire is ground on the joystick all I see is 2 blacks and 2 yellows.

Also, brisket was $1.50/lb today.
So about a month ago my company lost 2 projects that our publishers pull out from. That was a huge blow, that crippled the studio. We had laid off over half our staff, and if we didn’t get another project signed before Christmas break, the studio would have been shut down.
On Friday, our CEO told us he came into the office with the intention of laying everyone off because we weren’t able to get anything signed, until about an hour before his lay-off meeting with us all, he received a call from a publisher we were talking to, and they offered us a contract!! Talk about by the skin of our teeth!
This was definitely a Christmas miracle, and has been a huge weight off my shoulders. I’ve been working crazy hours the last month, from trying to build up demos and pitches, to updating my own portfolio for my contingency plan in case I got laid off. I was pulling off consistent 14 hour work days, and sleeping maybe 4 hours a night.
I’m chuffed I have a job waiting for me when we get back from break, and I get to spend the holidays relaxed and worry-free with family. *phew*
