Title: Gold Mine Marquee
Post by: LASooner on May 04, 2015, 07:00:49 am
I've been searching for good reference of the Gold Mine arcade sign forever.

This was the best I could ever find.

I finally just bit the bullet and recreated it as best as I could with that stunningly hi res reference.

As someone who went to Gold Mine many times BITD, I need to give you Kudos on a job well done!

You didn't spend any time at the Sooner Mall Gold Mine by any chance, did you?

I know that's what it's called now, but it was the Sooner Fashion Mall in my day. I lived at the Gold Mine there.

Gold Mine and Skateland were where I was infected with the arcade bug.

Had a suspicion based on the username.

And yes, it was Sooner Fashion Mall back then, sounds like we were at the same places, probably same time.

Played Dragon's Lair for the first time there. (Gold Mine)

I worked at the Gold Mine in Sooner Fashion Mall around 86/87... It was great, due to the fact that unlike most mall stores, it had no windows and a solid door (rather than a gate). So when the last customer left at night, I'd close the door, flip everything to free play, and open the back (outside) door so that friends could get in.

LA Sooner, I love what you did on the artwork. I have also been looking for a good reproduction of Gold Mine Arcade sign. Can I reuse what you have done here? Please advise. Thank you.
