Hi All im trying to make my own art work for a machine im making. Does anyone know how to make my art board follow the line of my work as per the pic (attached a sample of what im trying to get to). I know how to resize the art board but not make it follow the line. Iv searched online but nothing. Im using illustrator/ photoshop and autocad btw. Any help would be great cheers.

I'm pretty sure there isn't an option for making the art board any other shape than rectangle (or square). The software is designed for printing on paper (or other media).
If you want this "art board following" to use with a plotter/cutter you need to ad a dedicated layer with the cutting path.

to ad a layer you have to click on the empty page on the bottom right of the layer section ( as seen on the last image you shared)
Name it cutting path, then you draw the lines on that layer.
If you need more advice you can pm me.
