How about...
BYOAC: I swear, honey, it's furniture!
I would be interested in a shirt, but pretty much don't like any of suggestions.
Keep it simple:
Front: "BYOAC"
Back: "Build Your Own Arcade Controls"
Add some arcade graphics, done.

I'm not a big fan of any of the suggestions in the first post and I think they really cast a bit of a juvenile light on the hobby taking away some credibility.
If anyone wants to take the less nerdy route, I'm working on a T-shirt design right now.

I don't mean to hijack the thread or anything, but I haven't seen any so far for T-shirt designs, so here's mine so far, it's still a work in progress though.

I like a simple
Build it and THEY will PLAY.
Gets rid of the sexual inuendo and makes it more generic.

That actually sounds pretty cool!
Front pocket area (no actual pocket), small writing
BYOAC

Across the back
"If you build it, They will play"
BYOAC:
Look at me! I'm a big fat nerd!
Umm it is a juvenile hobby man. We are grown men and women playing with toys.I kind of disagree with you. While the act of playing arcade games is juvenile, the huge majority of us are grown men reclaiming some of our childhood memories. It's fun and it's light-hearted, but I wouldn't say that the hobby itself is "juvenile".
Umm it is a juvenile hobby man. We are grown men and women playing with toys. Also to the rest of the world we don't have any credibility. To take the hobby so seriously and expect the rest of the world to is like those nerds in high school that proudly wore their chess club t-shirts and couldn't figure out why everyone was making fun of them.
Actually, I'm yet to meet a single person who thinks I'm a dork for building my own arcade controls. In fact, everybody has said it was really cool, and they wish they had a cabinet of their own. And I've shown it to both men and women from age 12 all the way up to retirement age. Granted, the retirement age people didn't say they wanted one of their own, but they still thought it was cool.
My first pick is "Everything you wanted to know about building an Arcade game but were afraid to ask." My second being "Rebuilding your memories.Umm it is a juvenile hobby man. Speaking of which, I absolutely hate the following:
BYOAC: Over 300 members playing with our joysticks since 1997
Where do 300 people get together to show off there joysticks?
BYOAC: If you build it she will play with it. <Show pic of scantilly clad women leaning against cabinet>
"Playing with our joysticks" is beyond juvenile...it's downright stupid. It also reeks of those hats that say "FBI: Female Body Inspector" that you can buy at the county fair.
The "scantily clad woman" leaning against a cabinet would only work if it was a very tongue-in-cheek cartoon rather than some desperate attempt to add "sex appeal" to this hobby. In other words, it would only work if it was "cute".
But in an attempt to not just be negative and to actually contribute something, my submission would be:
FRONT:
The "BYOAC" logo at the left breast pocket.
BACK:

(Excuse the crappy execution, but hopefully it gets the idea across.)
How about something like:
Joysticks: $28
Wood: $61
Trackball: $94
Buttons: $27A year in the garage with power tools: Priceless

I was thinking perhaps a design for the back might be good too... any ideas?I actually thought that was the back. If that's the front, I'd say a simple "www.arcadecontrols.com" on the back.
how about something like "insert coin to start" with a picture of a classic coin slot with a circle and a line through it in big letters "NOT".Howabout no...
and on the back BYOAC rebuilding your memories.
I wonder why people think the design should go on the back? All the t-shirts I have that have samething on them is only on the front.
I'm not the kind of guy that wears t-shirts in the summer only, and in the winter you never see the back of any of my shirts as I'm usually in my leathers.
I think all the ideas thus far are pretty shady...er, i dunno. :-\
Also, $15 for shirts, and no profit at that point? WHO THE HELL ARE YOU GETTING TO MAKE THE SHIRTS? I have a friend that screenprints t-shirts, and you should be able to get shirts for around $5-8 each. :P
Don't jump to any conclusions on the idea. In the meantime make your own t-shirts using the iron-on transfers or something. 8)
BYOAC+BYOB=FUN
Somebody is being very negative. ;P Yes I'm sure you can get em cheaper but we want quality t-shirts made that are available on their own pre-made website for international online order. Can your friend offer that?
Also I hope your last line wasn't a slogan suggestion, I don't even know what you are talking about although I doubt it could be good. ;)
Had some free time this morning:

If that's the case, can someone with contacts try to ask those places and see if they're willing to do orders in small quanitites ?? and vaires the pattern ?? etc ??....
Also, when we're talking about screen prints....
what quality is that ??.... (sorry.... I'm not very familiar with t-shirt processing....) but if I remember right, like local malls usually have a place where you can print your pic into mugs and t-shirts, but those are gray scale pics only... not color pics... right ??...

Hey, I like that! The Y has the look of a mushroom from Centipede. At least that's the first thing that popped into my head.
Nice work Frost! Maybe try different fonts for the BY AC?
looks good though. just need to add the domain name in there.
and possible a slogan?
8)
Frosty, don't limit yourself to a white design just because of the printing location selected. We are determined to find a better one (that does black prints) so it shouldn't be an issue.
Btw really really like the design but is there anyway you could try to "render" it a bit more? I think more colors would be nice. You know, a more 3d look.
Nice designs guys, but don't forget that these images are going to probably be silkscreened onto the t-shirts....so don't expect a cool looking 24-bit image to look good when it's knocked down in color depth...gotta remember stuff like that for this sorta thing...

I tweaked it slightly to look more 3d using gradients, looks pretty decent.
Anyways, there's one for a white shirt and one for a black- I'm gettin into this design.
here are links - the pics are getting a little large for sticking on the board here...

I had to vote for the first one, the rest seemed to be begging for me to wear a one of those old hats with the fake crap on the bill and a "honk if you're horny" bumper sticker. I'd like to be able to wear my shirt in public and not have people think I'm a complete idiot....... IF that's possible ;) er, wait, probably not
