I recently purchased a ultimate mk3 pcb board, I installed into a mk4 cabinet. It boots up fine, however none of the joysticks and buttons work at all. I thought that that the kick harness for mk4 and umk3 would be the same and would be plug n play. Any ideas as to why the controls don't work at all. Thanks

If none of your controls are working at all the first thing I would check is the continuity of your ground loop for them.
After that its cracking out the drawings and doing it wire by wire....

Ok, I may give that a try. Weird part is that mk4 ran great before. After not having any luck with the umk3 board controls I put the mk4 board back in and it plays perfectly. Maybe umk3 board issue?

Possibly a board issue or its wired totally different.
Are they both Jamma boards?

Yes, both are jamma boards. One thing I did notice is that the pin connectors on the umk3 board are very worn out where the jamma harness slides on. The silver on there is almost gone on quite a few. Not sure if that would cause the controls not to work. My understanding is thay mk3, umk3 and mk4 have all the exact same harnesses.

Well each control has its own pin so to have all of them completely worn out woukd be unusual.
Is the ground connector badly worn away?
If so that will be your problem!

Here's a picture of the worn out parts on the board, I would say the ones on the far right look more worn out to me. The other side looks the same too.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191030/ab289e21f0bf697d673c31ee1f245809.jpg)

The 2 on the bottom are your grounds (same on the other side) and look badly worn.

Yeah, you're right. I checked the jamma harness pin out and they are indeed grounds. That definitely explains it then.

The 2 pins furthest away both sides are grounds also.

The ones on the left side are slightly worn out, not as bad as the other side. Looks like I'll be returning this umk3 pcb then.
