Been nothing until today. And today's pretty slim.
Coke's running a deal where you take 5 pictures of their logo on 5 different coke products and you get a $5 giftcard. This one's kind of a pain in the ass, and Target only lets you combine 4 gift cards per purchase.
But I got a free copy of Batman Arkham VR coming my way....

That certainly makes things quicker than fiddling around with cans. Thanks man. In an effort to help further I've put them all in a rar. For you digital comic book nuts, rename the extension to cbr and now the codes will be scrollable in a book which helps with scanning. (If two images are in the same shot the scanner gets confused.)

Well judging by the last event compared to this one, I think new accounts have to be a month old to be eligible. Most of my accounts on the last target run were locked out, but this time they aren't. So tonight I might make a few more accounts in preparation for the next event. I honestly thought Christmas was the last hurrah for gift card rewards so I stopped working on it.
With what I had done from last time I snagged 40 bucks. I think I can get Mario+Rabbids for that.
Pro tip.... if you want to make some email accounts without having to go through convoluted verification processes check out mail.com I'm going to make enough accounts to at least get me up to $100.

Also - you can submit 12 cap codes for a free magazine subscription code. That code can be redeemed for a $5 check from the magazine company. Apparently I have 3 concurrent subscriptions to Vanity Fair now. Oops.

Their selection isn't great though... no gaming magazines... the only thing I would be interested in would be popular science or mechanics and honestly my interest in those magazines waned as I got older. I'm wondering if shutterfly would print manuals or flyer art.... that might be cool to have a book of your favorite artwork.

Yup, and *THIS* is why I say VR isn't going to last. They've gotta get some games on these headsets that aren't glorified tech demos or slap-dashed conversions of existing games. I've been hopeful that something will come out to change my mind...bridge crew almost did it for me, but they went with the Kelvin universe and I don't really want to feel like I'm inside an ipod commercial.
On the rep front, Saint needs to set Malenko or one of our sys admin brethren loose on the site and update some stuff.

A good friend is playing SubNautica and he is considering buying a VR set just because the game is so cool he wants to experience the VR version of it, and it was built to play in VR as well as without. When games start driving the hardware instead of the other way around, it's a good sign the platform is getting rooted down.

Yup there are plenty of good VR games out now.
Sure there is alot of shite to but thats no different to when gaming was in its infancy before Nintendo stamped down on it.
Next gen I think will be much more down to business.
At the moment I think they are still seeing what does and does not work etc.

Ugh.... so these target gift cards are becoming a pain in the butt..... You can only use 4 gift cards at a time on target.com I contacted support and they can't combine them... it can only be done in-store and then it varies from store to store. So yeah, I've got to go to my local Target store, which is in a weird place, and purchase a gift card with the other gift cards, then go home and order what I wanted from target.com. I would split the order in two, but target is one of those crazy retailers that charge a flat 6 dollar shipping fee unless you spend $35 or more.
I'm just mentioning it for future cheapskates.... if there is an offer and you have the option, do NOT do target gift cards unless they are a sizeable domination.

Yes? And what's your point? You didn't mention that you can't combine the gift cards into a larger one, which most sites will let you do, or have an online account with all the gift cards as a running credit, which, again, most sites will let you do. Hey if rolling your eyes at me makes you feel better knock yourself out though.

Beauty of a $100 Weber estate sale purchase is you can basically replace everything.
Did mess up when I chiseled off the old retaining washers. Should have pried them up just enough to slide the old burners out, put the new ones in, and hammer them flat again. But, hey, it was easily fixed with a quick trip to Harbor Freight and doubling up 2 e-clips. And I only busted one drill bit trying to get the old bolts out!
Now my grill isn’t a flame thrower setting brisket on fire.

I'll give it another shot thanks. Even though the online help for Target told me to go to a store and they could combine gift cards for me, my local target couldn't figure out how to do it.
I ended up getting this Atari Art Book:

Those are pretty cool aren't they. I saw a review... the dude complains that it's a pain in the butt to do the hunting sections, but as I remember it, that's kind of how it was on the computers back in the day..... having eight separate keys for each direction.
It might be worth it to print out a true Apple II/Mac Classic shell for one of those.
Btw... the contest doesn't seem to care if the accounts are new for this one, so now would be the time to open a bunch of accounts via mail.com addresses. I think I'll go ahead an do 20, so when they do the $5 gift cards that's enough to get $100. Not so useful for target, but it'd be great for amazon cards.... that's enough for an everdrive and some change. ;)

I'm having a hard time as well. That 20 dollar limit and $5.99 shipping fee really kills it for a lot of impulse buys. The breath of the wild amiibo are still available in my area, but while the tank amiibo is bad-ass, I don't feel that the Link amiibo is representative of the character so I think that's a pass. I guess I could spend it on something practical (as if).
So my poster book came in and it was well worth the shipping-inflated price. I think it's a down-play to call them posters as they are printed on a heavy, semi-gloss cardstock. The artwork is from early Atari cart labels and thus it is gorgeous. If only the games looked as good. ;) The only thing that might be considered a negative is that it really isn't 40 ready to frame posters, but as I feared 20 ready to frame double-sided posters. Fortunately they have done a pretty good job of marrying the crap art with the good stuff, so most of the time you'll have something cool and colorful like centipede on one side and one of those dull-washed out labels like baseball on the other. So yeah, if you want to display all 40 you'll need to buy two copies... so keep that in mind. Myself I'm out of wall space, so they stay in the book for now, but once I make room I think I'll go nuts and try to display all 20.
Btw, anyone gotten those $1 shareacoke.com coupons working? I tried to apply them to an order but nothing happened.

Eh they've got their claws in me pretty good. I never thought I'd be a figurine guy but after buying a few (ironically also to get rid of gift cards) I'm pretty hooked. I don't have any desire to "collect them all" though.... I'm more about collecting iconic characters where the figure is a good representation. Sadly I'm still missing some of the important ones.... no Mario, No Link, no Samus and no Bowser. They are usually sold out. I think Nintendo makes as many of those amiibo as the lesser known characters, which is ridiculous. You can't tell me they lacked the foresight to know that Mario would be x10 as popular as Mr. Game & Watch. I might end up having to (gasp) pay full retail for them by going to a (double gasp) gamestop.

I had a keyring of flashed amiibos. Gave them away to my friend's kid. Utterly pointless contributions to gameplay in my experience. Some of them look cool, though. I've got a Little Mac I've been told is LQQK QMG R@RE so I figure it's worth 50 cents.

For earlier games sure, but they aren't pointless for the newer ones. The drops in BOTW are helpful for leveling up quickly and in Mario Odyssey the power-ups dropped by the wedding amiibo that Malenko sent me are quite useful in some of the post-game levels. The Re Revelations collection gives you upgrade points for every amiibo scanned.
Now all of this is optional, but I don't think optional equates to pointless. If anything I'm rather proud of Nintendo for keeping the little figures optional.... they could have easily went the Skylanders route where buying hunks of plastic is a requirement to play the game.

We really enjoyed it too. We went in without having seen a single trailer or having read ANYTHING about it. We just knew John Krasinski had made a horror movie and that was enough to get our interest. I love knowing nothing about a movie's plot going in, but it's rare that it happens.

Can't remember what BS I pulled for these, but it turned out my ancient Weber Genesis had been missing two racks. Guess that's what you get when you browbeat the price down at an estate sale.
Anyway, the cooking area on it is huge, so it wasn't too big a deal to cut off a burner and move stuff off to the side, but my grilling game has instantly leveled up.
Coke flaps were redeemed yesterday for a desoldering iron. I'm going to yank off the squeeze bulb and rig it to a shop vac. Details soon...

You might also want to add a filter chamber like the one in the Pace desoldering handset. (items 3, 4, 5, and maybe 27)

I cleaned up this month. Tons of free albums via google play and a few from Amazon. Surprisingly most of them were good. I'm just finishing up the twitch promotion via amazon so I got a bunch of games that way. Amazon had a "hidden" coupon where you buy something prior to prime day and then during prime day and you receive a $10 credit. I bought $1 dash buttons, which will net me $5 when I use them. So I've grabbed $14. Whatever I get I'll probably do no rush and scrape another two bucks out of amazon.
Btw Amazon has and additional 25% off of used video game stuff right now.

That’s cool. I picked up Skyrim VR and 2 pounds of beef jerky last week. Jerky made it about 60 hours.
Skyrim still in the shrink wrap until a couple PhD loose ends are tied up with my wife. Apparently she lost a couple weeks of her life reading books in some library in that game on Xbox 360. So that game awaits...

Yeah I rarely get anything on prime day but free credit is free credit. The thing is a few days before prime day they put the factory refurbished fire devices on sale. Got an HD 8 for 40 bucks and it looks brand new to me. On prime day they bump the prices of the refurbished units back up.
I'm pretty satisfied with it.... I just needed something cheap and powerful enough to read game manuals and such while I play. Say what you want about the Wii U, but the ability to bring up the gamefaqs on that second screen was great. The switch still kind of does it, but without the touch screen in docked mode it's much more awkward for navigation.

How's it compare to an iPad? I had the original Kindle Fire and it was... adequate for its time. My iPad is going nuts with phantom screen touches and makes it very difficult to lay in bed and post here at 2am. The original screen turned into a spiderweb after I brought it inside from reading in the Houston heat. I had it replaced for $70 and honestly got 6 good months out of it, so not too salty.

Nope, hadn't heard about that. Some of my expenses qualified on old vehicles, but why the hell would I keep maintenance records around for a vehicle I sold 10 years ago? Only things I hoard are debt and stuff I haul out of the dumpster.

I was about to pull the trigger on a new DeWalt miter saw but I waited for Prime day and I got $25 off of it, so it wasn't a total waste. I also picked up 2 more Echo Dots for $49, which is basically half price. I was eyeing the cheap SD cards and the discounted Shield TV box thinking about buying another one for another media player.
The Shield uses the same hardware as the Nintendo Switch and does a good job playing games, but I use it for playing my media in the theater and in the living room, it blows away other boxes and sticks and is the only one that can do Atmos and 4k MKV playback (although the new Dune player is supposed to be able to do it as well).
Anyway, a weak Prime day, but I saved a few dollars. No free crap though, lol.

My iPad is going nuts with phantom screen touches and makes it very difficult to lay in bed and post here at 2am. The original screen turned into a spiderweb after I brought it inside from reading in the Houston heat. I had it replaced for $70 and honestly got 6 good months out of it, so not too salty.
Well obviously an iPad is better, but not by much. It's a 720p screen on the 8 and I believe 1080p on the 10 but they claim the screen is "tougher than the ipad". I haven't had it long enough to tell, but the screen does seem to have gorilla glass or something similar you wouldn't expect on a cheaper tablet. The camera sucks and the speakers aren't very loud. Other than that it's great. The ui is much improved from earlier models and Alexa is actually helpful. It's android os only a bit cleaner and snappier. I don't know how powerful it really is, but I threw goat simulator on there and it seems to handle it, so I guess the unreal engine runs ok. It works for reading well, but I think I'm going to have to install another reader app. Amazon's annoyingly doesn't let you zoom with pinches and pulls like virtually every other pdf reader does.

Have you tried side-loading the Playstore app on it? I'm looking for something cheap to play Pinball Arcade on. The Fire tablet seems like the best value out there but doesn't appear to natively run Playstore apps.

It installed fine but the installation was a little wonky. When I first started the google play store it hung up on me, so I closed it and launched again. The second go around it got through the setup fine but kept giving me an authentication error. I closed it one more time and the third time was a charm.... now everything is working fine and I installed the required by law copy of Angry Birds to make sure it installed stuff ok.
So yeah, google play install isn't a big deal, even on the very latest version of the fire OS.

I've still got that prime day credit, another courtesy credit from something else, and around $20 in gift cards. I think the credits expire at the end of the month, so I better find something soon. I know sd cards are currently on sale on amazon and you can never have too many of those.
Those kmart credits I mentioned are fairly worthless. I ended up getting a screwdriver to take apart xbox 360 gamepads, a spare battery compartment for 360 gamepads and a 7 port usb power strip. I have no clue what I'll do with the rest when they come in.

So now that you can softmod any version of firmware, I took my prime day credit and got a 32gb micro sd card for my vita along with a sd2vita adapter. If you need an sd card for something, now is the time to visit Amazon... I don't know what is going on, but the bottom seems to have fallen out on the price of sd cards and ssds. I also had a courtesy credit left over and I spent that one BloodStained: Curse of the Moon, that'll be out later this month. Still got $20 in gift cards.
Gotta do a few store pickups to get that crap ….err... cool items that I ordered at Kmart and Deal or No Deal at Walmart. I'll make my third car load of donations to goodwill while I'm at it....Some good karma couldn't hurt.

One holds my tools so that's ok, but the other two just have junk in them like old arcade parts and xmas decorations ect… Been going to goodwill on a regular basis for a couple of months donating old clothes and such... I'm going to get everything fairly empty and then fill it with all new junk. ;)

They every so often clear out games really cheap. Their updated menu system makes it a little harder to drill down by system, but it's pretty quick to flick through them all. I got Doom and Dark Souls 3 for $5 each, Transformers Devastation for $2. Don't need an account, either, just swipe your card.

Picked up God of War (ps4), Horizion: Zero Dawn Complete and Assassin's Creed Odyssey for the price of a normal game. Noticed that, as you said, most of the exclusives are really cheap. I don't think I saw a single one over 10 bucks.

Most games don't require them but I'd get that $250 bundle that includes them. There's some worthless PS3 Sports Champions game that came with a Move and a PS3 camera. Think I paid ~$25 shipped for a sealed set. I almost hate to post that, but if PS4 owners haven't figured out it's the same controller by now...
Probably paid another $25-30 shipped for a loose used Move controller. No idea what market price is these days.

I did get a free tortuga tshirt from him, a hat from Ond, and a staff shirt from Mike A. Yotsie gave me a 3D printed Dickbutt and a 3D printed glow in the dark dragon. Jawn got me free passes into Zapcon too. Opt gave me a sweeeeeeeeet BotW lanyard. Arroyo bought pizza for everyone.

Coke is doing some offers again, they are pretty lame though. Scan 6 sip & scan labels to get a pen set..... despite what the rules say they don't have to be from each brand, they don't even have to be different codes... pull a coke out of the fridge, scan it 6 times, done. Also 12 caps for a magazine subscription is up again.

There’s usually an option to get a $5 check instead of a subscription if you dig deep enough. That whole program has shifted to instant win games. I miss the days of free T-shirt’s and silver rodeo belt buckles.

Recently ran about 3 grand through Sears ordering some appliances, got ~$60 in "free cash" points. All their electronics are super overpriced and anything I wanted came out to about $20-30 out of pocket even with all that "free cash." To make it worse, when you apply the free cash, they remove the free shipping, charge you $9, and then nail you for sales tax.
So, anyway, after way too many hours on this, I figured out a trick. Get at least $59 in your cart so that you're eligible for free shipping. Then when you're checking out, select the option to slightly expedite it for $1/item. Then apply your points. The points will erase everything except the $1 shipping charges and whatever your leftover balance is.
I got one of those Pac-Man 256 TV joysticks and two pairs of jeans I actually needed for $5.50 shipped.

Picked up a 29” Nanao MS9 tube for next to free ($30), to go with my backup chassis. Now I have a good backup monitor for my Japanese cabinet.
Also, my Arcade CRT hoarding is expanding. All of these where fairly cheap, or given to me for free. All rebuilt and 100% working (chassis not attached here). I’ve got two 25”, one 19” and now one 29”.
I’m set for a while. :D

I got rid of a few 25 inch tvs and almost instantly regretted it. Forget arcade monitors, just finding crt anything is getting hard around here.
Goodwill and restore don't get them in anymore. I didn't worry about keeping any because just a few years ago they were stacked up like cordwood.
There are some good post-e3 video game sales going on. Gonna spend all my stock-piled gift cards on some good games.... might pickup bloodstained now that it is finally out... absolutely loved the 8-bit companion game.

Target is having a "sale" (if you can call it that) so I went ahead and spent my credit on shadow of the tomb raider. I've never seen a store that claims a "%30 off selected titles when you pickup in store" where a game will be included in the promotion, it's available for your store at pickup, and yet it's somehow ineligible for the discount. I hate dealing with target and I didn't want credit left over so tomb raider it is.... still had to pay $0.71 :angry:
Now to look at my credit on Walmart and amazon before these summer sales go away.
Anybody tried BloodStained yet? I hear it's good, but I hear a lot of things.

Yeah I intended to get it on the switch because I figured it'd be a good portable game but now I'm unsure. I'm really unsure in general because I'm one of the oddballs that doesn't like SOTN. The thing is, I like most of the "sequels" on the gba/ds, it's just the first one that throws me off. Really going to have to give it another try one of these days.

So the Switch version of Bloodstained is unplayable. The framerate is atrocious, there's input lag, and the visuals are very down-rezzed. 505 Games has acknowledged the performance issues based on the backlash it's recently received by players, and are shifting their focus on fixing this version. But who knows how long it'll be.
If you're interested in getting this game, I'd recommend avoiding the Switch version. I'm regretting changing my pledge to receive the PS4 version for the Switch. I should have just kept with the PS4 release.

Hollow Knight is awesome and will take a long time to finish so you should be set for the foreseeable future. It's hard but gets easier over time as you get experience and learn the enemy patterns. Dead Cells is really good too but I stink at it so I don't play it as much as I should.
That sucks about Bloodstained - I have been wanting to play this game and the Switch seems perfect for it but now I guess I'll look into getting a copy for the PS4 or Xbox One. At least Super Mario Maker 2 is out today and my kids LOVE the first game so I'm sure I'll be playing their messed up levels for the rest of the summer.

Picked up Yakuza 0 for PS4 today. My first actually free item in awhile. Amazon no longer does 1 month Prime extensions for missing their guaranteed delivery dates, but they'll give out $5 courtesy credits without too much protest. Anyway, I'll add it to the Shoebox of Sealed Game Shame.

So, for those of you keeping track. I turned $20 of Coke Amazon gift cards into 2 $6 pens that are ordinarily $25ish each (no idea, but Dr. PBJ was freaking out it was a good deal), when those showed up late I got a $5 credit I put with the balance for Yakuza 0, and then when that was late, I got another $5 credit and another PS4 game.
Feeling like 2017 all over again.

Also those ebay 3 off 3+ are absolutely free. If you can't find something on eBay that's cool for around 3 bucks then turn in your internet card.

I worry about it, man. Usually what happens is we move every few years and I just purge everything. When we moved to Houston I took 4 pickup loads of treasure from my gameroom to the dumpster. That kept the beast at bay for awhile.

I have a new racing wheel coming in and I realized that I don't have any actual games for it on the xbox (just demos) So I spent my Walmart cards on Forza Horizon 3. There was a limit on the number of cards you can use so I ended up having to pay 10 bucks and I've got 6 bucks in cards left over. Mike is right, I think I'm starting to lose money on this. Need to pickup Horizon Chase Turbo as well, but I'll probably just get that one on the pc as it isn't super demanding.

BleemSync 1.1 because it has OTG support. Basically you find your oldest thumb drive, install the hack, and then copy that thumb drive to a newer one and use an OTG cable plugged into the back.

I was given a dead Retro Duo today. Time for the dumbest repairs imaginable.
Stand offs were broken off the SNES pcb, so when the cartridge was shoved in, it was bending connector pins and you couldn’t get it to turn on. Turns out ribbon cable joining pcbs had been ripped out, power button slider was broken. Etc etc.
So, I made a new standoff from a dowel rod. Used the bench grinder to shape it around the air vents in the case, mounted it to pcb. Drilled holes through the bottom of the case for the other loose stand offs, tapped them for screws, and screwed through the case into the bottom of them. Pcbs are rock solid now. Ribbon cable was stripped and resoldered and glued. Used a small screwdriver to bend the cartridge connector pins back into place. Couldn’t do anything to repair the plastic button that moves the power switch so I cut down a Bic pen.
NES side is currently dead. Power LED comes on but doesn’t do anything, doesn’t even pop the TV speakers. SNES working fine. Probably the other ribbon cable at fault but I’ve already got a top loader so whatever.

And now we have 100% NES game play. Reflowing the ribbon cable was my first move, but that made the controller act weird - the B button would slam the game with start right and b at the same time. No other inputs did anything.
Yanked out the 10 wire ribbon cable, replaced with 10 short wires I made from ethernet cable I pulled out of the trash. :lol

By slightly expanding the hole and tweaking the position of the PCB, I was able to get the power switch functional with the original plastic slider. Which is nice.
Also, redeem for the Coke pen set if you punched in codes for it. Coke actually giving you a few days to do the redemption this time, unlike that time they stole 30 codes from me.

I haven't had the discovery channel in years and bought shark week on prime video for $2 before this other deal popped up. The preliminary bonus stuff was fine.
I just turned it off halfway through the second episode.
The first episode included plenty of fake drama, extreme close-ups and camera shaking, but there was actual content in there as well.
Second episode was C list celebrities improvising around a goofy script.
I quit watching it and started working on a repair 10 minutes into it, then had to turn it off because it was too annoying to even serve as background noise.
Guess at some point I'll see if the rest of the episodes are actual documentaries, but I've had all I could stand for now.
Shows like that remind me why I cut the cord years ago.

Shark Week credit came in. The only problem is spending it. Obviously I want to add to my video game pile, but the moments store is frustrating as hell. It'll list a game in the store, but the discount won't apply.... I'm assuming it's because of multiple sellers for each game but there's no indication as to which one to go with. I mean I can get some controller chargers?!?
Eh still $25 + $10 sent to charity gained via downloading the discovery app, clicking play and leaving the tablet alone for a few days was a pretty sweet freebie.

Its been a real problem over here where people are wiring houses etc with cheap Chinese cable then its been burning out due to not being up to the task.

I'm trying to get the wires that are used in thrustmaster disconnect systems for their wheels to make mine removeable. I might try aliexpress or Alibaba next.... I think they have the harnesses pre made.

Only one of those lawsuits that ever paid out was the Sketchers Shape Ups. The judge doubled the fine or something along those lines. I got a $400+ check out of it.

As the discussion seems to have got onto settlements, We've been doing OK in the UK recently what with banks being forced to pay back rip off charges going back 10 years, That got us back about £3000, PPI repayment got me back about another £1000, And then there was about £1200 back from a bank account that charged a monthly fee for things we never used. Unfortunately I have never had an endowment mortgage or any investment that has lost money as those the are next big value items which are being claimed back by people. I imagine the next thing will be, did you take out fixed term life insurance and not die in that period, you too could claim your money back plus interest >:D >:D

I actually opened Hitman 2 and replayed about 5 minutes of the first level before I fell asleep. I figure I'll pick up Spider-Man and after that it's whatever VR deals I see. And speaking of VR, Howard, you should pick up that $200 PSVR bundle. I would be very surprised if you didn't like Astro Bot.

That StarLink starter kit came in today. I played around with it for a few minutes.... The game is actually pretty good. The Star Fox characters are fully integrated into the story as well, so I might play this one. The Arwing model is awesome and the little docking station used to read all the AR stuff is fairly clever and can be used as a display stand for the ship. Other than being an obvious ploy to get kids to buy more plastic toys I have no clue why this didn't catch on... it's certainly better than those stupid Skylanders.
I've still got gift cards burning a hole in my pocket.... Let's see what Black Friday/Cyber Monday/whatever nets me in my quest for sweet sweet gaming booty.

Sunset Overdrive looks and plays like it should have been released on the original xbox, but it's fun as hell and the story mode is kind of entertaining in a dated, late 90's / early 2000's way. Pickup a Forza Horizon, it's light on the sim aspect so it's pretty fun.
Gamestop finally got around to sending me my $25 gift card for my VR bundle after I emailed and complained. Let's see what Cyber Monday brings.

Ryse is basically a really good looking (but kind of gimped) assassin's creed. Same kind of "historical" story and similar combat/ stealth mechanics.... just no running around on rooftops. I would wait on Rare Replay since, within a year, Microsoft will offer it to you for free. I got my copy about 3 years ago for watching an E3 live stream... there have been a couple of opportunities to get it since then. I never really got into it personally... it's some nes and n64 games you've probably already played, except not the iconic ones since they are co-owned by Nintendo. They did a really good job with the remasters, but again, it's games you've probably already played.

So the $25 coupon credit for buying a psvr is a joke. It's only for one item, so you can't pile up $25 worth of discount games. Also it deducts that amount from your total before calculating shipping charges.... so even if you find a $35 game to warrant free shipping, it'll get deducted and you'll pay $6 shipping. So the only way to truly get $25 from your $25 coupon is to use it on a $25+ game in store or use it on a $25+ online AND make sure you buy either a game that's expensive enough to still have a $35 total or add enough stuff to your cart to get it up to $35 after the deduction.

I had a Sears coupon that behaved like that, and my workaround was to add expedited shipping to the order, get the total, and then apply the coupon. Then I only had to pay the expedited shipping up-charge, which was a buck or two in that case.

I ended up getting Mario Maker 2 as it was the only full retail game I could think of that I wanted. I think it was around $37 which isn't that much of a savings considering Walmart has 10 bucks off all of their games all the time. I had planned on using it to get Astro Bot and the Until Dawn VR sequel. Oh well. I'll scour Target and Walmart later to see if I can spend my credit left with them. Probably going to get Until Dawn as you suggested.
That was the goofiest coupon I've ever seen. I was going to just get Astro Bot and eat the 5 bucks I couldn't spend, but the coupon wouldn't go through. In addition to all the other stipulations, if your total was less than $25 the coupon wouldn't work. They were making sure to wring some more cash out of you on another purchase.
In other news damn target is on point this season.... ace combat 7 already came in. I'm up in the sticks so anything other than amazon that comes in under 7 days is a Christmas miracle.

How much effort does it need to be before we consider it no longer free? Last year, I wanted to upgrade my foosball table and add game counters. They look like this:

For new counters, they cost $50 (not including tax and shipping) for 2 sets. That's more than I want to spend for something so simple. I kept my eyes peeled and eventually saw a home model Tornado foosball table for sale for $100, which is a fantastic price. I messaged the guy immediately with a "I'll take it, I can be there in 25 minutes, I have cash and I have a vehicle that can haul it". He replied that he had lots of offers and asked me if I really wanted it. I replied immediately with a yes and headed off to get it. The place was 20 minutes from my house. I can see why he was a little hesitant. The table was not going to be in playable shape, but you couldn't tell from the pictures or description and I bet he had lots of folks wanting a playable table. The laminate was peeling away, but since I was buying it for the game counters, I hoped I could resell the other parts.
I brought the table home and stripped it. I listed the following on ebay and sold:
- Foosball men - $55
- Bumpers $25
- Bearings $30
- Feet $25
- Extra game counter discs $12
After ebay fees, I broke even. I had "Free" game counters.

Cuphead on the switch is on sale for 15 bucks. Took that $10 gift card from gamestop that I got half off via my power up subscription and the ~$3.00 I had in gold coins from Nintendo. I think I ended up paying around $2.50. Been wanting to try this one for a while now, but the xbox one gamepad isn't great for d-pad games.

I'm going to document my year's worth of gamestop rewards stuff here since we aren't posting as much anyway. Spent Febs' credit towards the ps4 remake of Shadow of Colossus. I think it ended up being $16.00 new, which is about 5 bucks less than retail. Next month I might get the Nathan Drake collection or something I missed out on via my loyalty to team xbox. I don't get to play much of anything anymore, but I'm stockpiling.

So it's month 3 and I'm starting to remember why I hate Gamestop. I go it, pick a game off the shelf and hand it to the clerk..... after 15 min of searching I get "we don't have that". So why was it on the shelf? They don't have my second choice either. I finally settle on a used copy of SFV arcade edition.... even though they have a whole drawer of them still in the original packaging I get mine home to discover it has a crack in the clamshell. I would have gotten championship edition, which only costs a little more, but they were out of that too. The first two times the manager was there and I didn't have any problems.... this time he wasn't there and surprise, surprise I run into trouble. :angry:
There's a better gamestop in town, but it's behind a brick and mortar paywall of having to pay $3 to park in a parking garage. My mother works in the area and can park for free, so I might end up sending her on pick up errands in the future.
Anyway I've saved $15 so far out of the $20 I spent on the service. I've been happy with two of those purchases anyway. One more month and I break even. Got my first copy of game informer as well.... it's ok but my old age betrays me as the text to too small to read without my glasses.

On the SF V front it appears I was doubly screwed. I couldn't figure out why only 17 characters were unlocked so I did some research. This is another one of those games where crapcom decided to only put half of the game on a physical disc. Those extra characters were just download codes... So I really just bought SF V, not SF V arcade or SF V CE. :badmood:

Well it's Assassin's Creed lite, so if you don't like those games you won't like it. It's been a few years but if I remember correctly it had one hell of a slow burn, so it didn't get interesting until several missions in. I'd say it's slightly above average in the Ubi-verse but for free yeah anyone interested should check it out. AAA title after all.

Today I got a $3 e-credit for choosing delayed delivery with Amazon. Not sure if that is a regular thing now but the most I've received before was $1.50.
Also if you use Vudu they offer a $2 credit if you watch one of their "Leaving Soon" movies (with ads). Today only. They do this once a month and I usually just start the movie on the TV in the bedroom and then leave the room. Tonight's movie is Cocktail.

Gamestop reluctantly had to make their $5 coupon work with online items this month due to the outbreak. Unfortunately shipping isn't free and all the gamestops are closed in my county. I got Mortal Kombat 11 for $17... minus $5... plus $3.99 shipping and $1 tax... so it's $17 again. So I've been kind of screwed out of a deal two months in a row. Eh, things are pure hell right now at home so I won't get to play it anyway... I'm just stress buying.

Well the thing is the hardware is decidedly crap this go around. It's got an analog joystick for some stupid reason, the buttons are just ok and the video out kind of sucks. Couple that with the fact that it typically goes for 100 bucks and there you go. The psx classic didn't get properly hacked until it could be found in the bargain bin.

The "Ultimate" version gives you game pass on both your xbox and pc. This probably isn't for me as I've got a backlog a mile long, but it's a good deal. I might get it just for all the racing games that work with my cockpit.

You have to let it expire. Then you have to check Howard's link to see if you quality for $1/month. Then you go top off your xbox live gold as cheaply and long as possible. Then you reopen Howard's link and convert it to gamepass ultimate for $1.
I have ultimate through August 2020, got some deal on Xbox gold from newegg that worked out to about $4/month for ultimate. So I'm in about $25ish for 8 months and used it to play through Overcooked 2 and Life is Strange 2. Now I don't even turn on my Xbox anymore.

So last month I waited until the last minute and got bloodstained for the ps4. I've got more games than time so I really only bought it to use my coupon. I think I got it for 20 with shipping and the amazon price is around 23 so I saved a whole 3 bucks. I'll probably buy the mortal kombat 11 expansion this month.

I still gotta play through Bloodstained. I made the mistake of buying it on Switch, and had to wait for them to patch it so that it ran better/didn't crash randomly.

Amazon decided to give me a trial of Prime again.
Combined that with some Chase rewards to get an Action Replay delivered tomorrow. Retails for $40, which is what I paid for one 23 years ago.

Seems like the prices of all "retro" video game consoles and hardware have gone through the roof lately. There were a few more consoles I wanted to add to my collection, but I'm afraid they might be out of reach price-wise now. :( Furthermore, it seems like a lot of sellers on eBay that have the more rare consoles tend to take crappy photos in an effort to obscure their true condition. I guess the demand is so high now that people must be buying stuff and not really scrutinizing it that closely. I suppose it's a good time to sell if you have any old hardware you want to get rid of...

Unfortunately they weren't making the 2.4gHz version in black when I bought mine even though the vast majority of Saturns are black, so I had to go bluetooth and buy the receiver separately. Of course now that I bought mine they are going to make a black 2.4gHz version. Never fails. LOL! :banghead:
Supposedly they are working on a wireless Dreamcast controller that is very similar to the stock controller but with some improvements. Really looking forward to that. It is quite amazing that new Sega branded products are being released so many years after they stopped making hardware. Now if we could only get them to make a new console...

PBJ you will have to let us know how that Fenrir works out. I have a Phoebe in one of my Saturn consoles, but would like to get a Fenrir for the other when they are available for units with the 21 pin connector. They are way easier to order and much cheaper than the Rhea/Phoebe ODEs. So far it seems like they have pretty good reviews...

If you buy the setup like I have (bluetooth controller and dongle) you apparently can connect other controllers like XBOX One, PS4, and Switch. It doesn't look like the 2.4GHz dongle will work with other controllers though unfortunately. You would also lose out on the USB option for PC, but the bluetooth stuff is available now on Amazon. Supposedly 2.4GHz can have less latency than bluetooth, but I don't seem to notice any lag with my setup right now.

Well the downward spiral of the gamestop rewards program continues. I waited for pro day but the website considered any discount a coupon and it only allows one coupon code per order so I couldn't use my $5 voucher. The sales weren't great so I thought I would wait till today which is supposed to be the last day the coupon is valid. Nope.... apparently the coupon is valid until the last day, not through it so I lost that one. I'll order something tomorrow with my July coupon so this doesn't happen again. Also they've changed their policy so now anything on sale won't work with the voucher. If it weren't for covid I'd just go in a store and buy a gift card but right now it's not worth it.

Just a few notes on the Retrobit Saturn controller when used with a Genesis Mini.
The USB receiver doesn’t play well when plugged into a usb extension cable. Buttons A and B were swapped, as were X and Y. Was also lagging some. All this went away when I plugged it directly to the console.
When playing Mortal Kombat 1 with the stock emulator, buttons XYZ only work in round 1 of each match. Very weird bug. But this isn’t an officially emulated game so eh.
Works fine with SF2 in six button mode with stock emulator.
Retro arch works very easily with it. Make sure you tell it to emulate a 6 button and change the actual in game options to 6 button. Tested MK2, MK2 32x, and MK3.
Anyway, feels very nice.

They sent out a $10 "welcome back" coupon and for whatever reason this coupon stacks with the $5 coupon, so I went ahead and bought a physical copy of MK11 Aftermath for $45 That's a lot of hassle to get it down to $5 below what walmart would sell it every day but whatever.

I have a Ducane which was made after they were bought by Weber.
It's an interesting story. Weber wanted to start making grills in China, but didn't want to risk their reputation while working the kinks out of supply chain and quality control.
Ducane went in big debt to expand just as a financial crisis hit and people stopped buying their high end/high priced grills. They were bought by Weber, who used the Ducane brand name to work all the kinks out of the Chinese supply chain. After they had suppliers and quality control they could trust they switched the name on the grills to Weber Spirit.
I got mine on clearance after the brand name was discontinued. It's been a great grill. I've replaced the heat distribution plates with stainless ones. Other than those it's been bulletproof.

My Weber has been great but Houston is killing it. Got it for $100 from an estate sale 10 years ago, repainted the wood, and it performed beautifully in San Antonio. Now I’m replacing the burner bars every year and the frame is rusting through. It won’t survive another move, which is a damn shame as I can fit a huge turkey in there after I found out a 25lber doesn’t fit in my oven.
Now i just wrap the rust holes with foil and see how long I can milk it.

I grill approximately once a year and not very well. Mine's a char and it's on the back porch covered and yet somehow the tire melted flat and it's got rust all over it. Didn't grill this 4th so I probably need to clean it up before fall.

So, I switched jobs today. Been hustling like crazy on the walking and online seminars to bump up my points, and cashed in the last of my Amazon gift card credit from the old gig. Had all of 3 points (equivalent to 3 cents) left when I was done.

Got Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 (Switch) today for $3.75. Best Buy sent me a $10 gift card for using their credit card, and there is some strange “birthday” discount that didn’t make sense to me, but it took off another 5%.
I really like this game. The first one was great. Very Dracula’s Curse-like. Looking forward to more of the same.

Walmart seems to be heavily discounting their hyper tough line. This kit has all the usual game bits as well as cell phone tools and such. Picked mine up when I picked up a prescription... it was locked behind the hardware case and the discount price was not marked but they rung up correctly.

Canceled that component cable order, turned out I had hard wired a mod to put my Xbox into composite output mode like 15 years ago. Was actually very handy back then when I was hauling it back and forth to my desktop to access the FTP. So, snip that wire and all my component problems went away.
Dreams on PS4 finally got PSVR mode, and Amazon put it on sale, so THAT is my final free PS4 game from all this walking. A fitting end.

Just a heads up, the Vasara collection (obscure shumps) is on the switch eshop for a dollar. I think they are in mame, but the collection features a new 3d mode with up to four players so that's worth the price of admission. Had some coins so I got it under a buck.

picked up a nice old little china cabinet for free to place on my covered porch next to the 6 tap keggorator I also got for free yrs ago.
The deck is attached to the porch.
I keep my glasses, plates, silverware, napkins, ice chopper, coozies, ect in it for when i'm eating outside.
mostly with kids or alone but sometimes guests show up.

Sign up for door dash Uber eats and then don’t actually use them. Eventually they’ll start throwing promos at you. Latest one I got was $25 credit with no fees and free delivery. I can’t even get it in person for as cheap as their promos. I figure the pandemic business is down and they’ve got venture capital to burn.
I’ve eaten so much dumb, weird stuff for almost nothing. Some place here has a humanoid robot that makes noodles, that was fun. Another promo was $50 off $100 in groceries and they were honoring in store sales. Got a mountain of steaks and shrimp. It was actually borderline obscene.

Good get, but if you intend to use it with light guns test before building anything. I had a Trinitron that had built in video processing that couldn't be turned off and it prevented light guns from working correctly.

Good get, but if you intend to use it with light guns test before building anything. I had a Trinitron that had built in video processing that couldn't be turned off and it prevented light guns from working correctly.

Folks over at my nintendo rewards they got the acrylic Zelda Skyward Sword art panel for 1000 platinum points. These panels usually sell out within a day or two.
