What projects would you put in the hall of fame, and why? Doesn't have to be a cabinet.
-
To clarify: should this just be finished projects?
Mountain's Jukebox. (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=79817.0)
Gametrek's Showcase (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=53911.0)
Bella's arcade (http://bellasarcade.blogspot.com/).
I think those cabinets are fantastic representations of what we do, and they tend to have a lot of great and innovative information in their respective threads about how to build.
-
This one:
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=94966.0 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=94966.0) :burgerking:
-
My favorite upright is Martijn's for attention to detail and overall fit and finish.. first class all the way.
Martijn's Streetfighter (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=84649.0)
My favorite bartop/mini is the Benderama. Innovative portable design, with full 1P control set, in an attractive package.
Bender's Benderama (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=84113.0)
-
Oh man, this might be a long one...
On top of the formally mentioned projects, the ones that were most inspiring to me over the years are:
Uprights
Woody - by Knievel (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=55789.0)
- for his classic design, yet updated slim version. Cleanly built, great for living room friendly placement.
Terminus - by markc74 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=92156.0)
- I really love the shape of this cabinet, and again another Slim. I thought the cab has some really nice lines, and the colour scheme makes for a clean cabinet.
Bella's Arcade - by javeryh (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=59828.0)
- Great construction and wonderful information on painting surfaces. A beautiful theme as well.
The Shmup! Arcade - Ryglore (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=95293.0)
- I really like Ryglore's documentation of this project the most. He really did a great job at putting the process down. Also, he made a fairly unique cabinet shape, and wonderful theme'd artwork. Also, love his joystick mod and custom dust covers.
Aliens Cabinet - Epyx (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=96465.0)
- Awesome theme, great documentation, wonderful outcome. The lighting, to the shape, to the execution, Epyx did an amazing job on this one.
Project Mame - lokesen (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=76150.0)
- All around great cabinet. The artwork and shape stands out the most IMO. But also, it looks completely professionally done! It's clean, well constructed, and overall just looks fricken cool. Though, it's a bit lacking on the documentation.
Bubble Bobble Scratch build - by YoGaBaR (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=100541.0)
- great looking cabinet, featuring Trebeck's wonderful artwork. Though, this cabinet is lacking in details as well, its still nice to look at.
Mission Control v1. - Pixelhugger (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=13118.0)
- Although he's working on v2, I really thought v1 was a great looking cabinet. First, the construction was great, the shape of the cabinet was so unique, and the marquee plexi work was so well done.
Bartops
DK, DK Jr., Mario Bros. Bartops - by Jigenjuke (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=85596.0)
- Just outstanding work. One of the first bartop threads I read, and extremely jealous of. Jigenjuke did a brilliant job with this.
Tempest Bartop - by leapinlew (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=80178.0)
- I thought leapinlew did an amazing job with this cabinet. It was simply built, and well documented. The shape of the original tempest cabinet also translated well to a bartop.
UK Dig Dug Bartop - by shrunkenmaster (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=96983.0)
- It's just so cute!
WeeCade - by lokesen (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=83366.0)
- Love the retro look of this little guy. Nice overlay artwork, really well constructed.
POWcade - by endtwist (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=80337.40)
- I thought this was a very classy renovation project. I really liked his use of the side-art as well as the thin-lined chrome/black t-molding.
Galaga Themed Small Bartop - by leapinlew (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=68683.40)
- One of the first bartop threads I read. I really liked the translation of a classic galaga cabinet to bartop. It worked really well.
Metroid Mother Brain Super Console - by SodaPopinksi (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=72801.0)
- Absolutely my favourite project of all bartops!! The theme, the artwork, the details, the MOTHER BRAIN!!!! When I first saw this years ago, it blew my mind.
Atari Xevious Bartop - by retrofuture (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=92656.0)
- I left this one last because retrofuture isn't finished yet! But this bartop will be great once finished, and even in it's current state I found it pretty inspiring.
Cocktail and Other
Sega Dreamcast Cocktail table (Michigan theme) - by deadpool18 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=81942.0)
- This cabinet inspired me for my Canucks cabinet. I thought he used the sports theme very smart, not overly done or in your face. Also, a cocktail that runs off a DC is awesome in my books.
Xcelerator - by theCoder (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=57479.0;all)
- Epic driving cockpit cabinet! Probably the best on the board IMO. The documentation is wonderful, and his attention to details and driving "feel" is commendable.
Woodrail Mini-Pin Cabinet - by froggerman (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=91235.0;all)
- Classic looking mini-pin. Very well made, well executed...great choices of artwork and colour scheme. Some really good craftsmanship here.
Mini Galaga project - by melon (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=100551.0)
- So awesome. Clever use of the "coin door" access. So tiny, so coooooool!
Vewlix Slim cab - by SpaceHedgehog (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=95907.160)
- I know he's still putting finishing touches on this cabinet, but it's practically done. Great craftsmanship of this replication, and I really love his wiring and mounting of play-components.
Super Mario Bros Wiimote coin block Wiimote tidy - by Franco B (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=91137.0)
- Though not an arcade machine, I give this projects props for the theme and the utility it brings. Definitely inspiring for projects with purpose outside of actual game playing.
I really can go on and on. There are so many great projects here that there are too many to mention...
:applaud: Great job everyone! :applaud:
-
I'm a big fan of mountain's cab (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=63629.0) as well and all of Knievel's stuff
Plus I agree with all of the above except the Benderama that is a POS! ;) although it would help if I got some finished shots into that thread :banghead:
As yet unfinished projects, but certainly worthy already
Ond's Astro (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=88912.0) why? Have you seen this thing?..... Have you seen this thing? :dizzy:
Drventure's Antique buffe (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=88515.0)t very different and very well done!
-

I agree, I figured someone would mention them, as they are obvious ones to add. Same reason I didn't add yours! ;)
Also, there are a bunch of threads I remember looking at years ago that are missing images (must have been hosted elsewhere). I wanted to mention them, but it's kinda useless without pics. Be mindful were you store your images folks! If you keep 'em here, Saint will most likely hang on to them long-term!

Aliens Cabinet - Epyx (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=96465.0)
I love this Cab
Project Mame - lokesen (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=76150.0)
The inspiration for my own Lokesen Clone
Taitorama - lokesen (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=102674.0)
The man does it again
Cabaret MAME Arcade Classics - Chicken McNobody (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=95449.0)
I love how retro and unfussy this conversion of an old Bump 'n' Jump cabaret turned out. Really sweet cab.
-
Gamester's Arcade Galaxy (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=94891.0)
One of the best complete cab paint jobs i've seen......Great CP artwork and craftsmanship in all it's lumin disk glory.... :applaud:
Somunny's Ark (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=76255.0)
This one should go into the unfinished works of art category.... :dunno
Knievel's Neon Mame (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=30538.0)
I think this started a new generation of eye candy for the forum.... :applaud:
Blind Dado's Arcade Odyssey (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=89624.0)
This one was the inspiration for my cab, good photos of progress, clean precise build. :applaud:
Build not documented in the forum so I added link below.
Arcade Odyssey Build Diary (http://rdowney.com/arcadeodyssey/)
Previously mentioned
Epyx's - Alien Themed Cab :applaud:
Ond's - Astro :applaud:
Dr. Ventures' - Antique Buffet :applaud:
Martijn's - Street Fighter :applaud:
-
All of these are really great but I think that from what im reading that you could click on the proj announ page and get all of them from there, I think everyone should get one vote. Initial inductees should be limited to 5 or 10 in order to keep the standard of the Hall of Fame high and something to strive for.
That being said you really should look at my cab for Hall of Fame.
-
Heavy Metal (http://bellsouthpwp2.net/g/c/gcnewsome/fin001.html)

This is an awesome thread. I agree with most all of the above posted projects. It will be great to have these linked in one thread.
Here is a bar-top from a few years ago I really like. It has an original look and is very clean. It catches your eye without being too gaudy. I also like the swappable panels.
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=78492.0 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=78492.0)
I also like this Star Wars upright scratch build. Very well done and something I would like to take on someday.

Let's not forget about ninjasquirrel's bartop build. Great documention and we all learned a bit more about kerfing.

+1
All the builds that come to mind right off have already been mentioned. I'll have to do some looking.
But definitely Bender's Benderama, the Aliens Cab, OND's Astro, The Shmup, Mountain's Woody and Jukebox, jeez the list goes on!
There's also a couple of Visual Pinball cabs that I'd nominate, but I can't find em off hand.
-
Excellent responses so far, thanks everyone! More if you've got them!
Yes please, finished (or near finished since most of them are never 100% done ;) ) cabinets. :)
-
if mine works out half as good as I hope lol!
But my fav: the aliens cab by epyx. I'm a big aliens fan, in fact I've made numerous aliens halloween costumes out of latex, the coolest ones being a facehugger and chest burster.
-
Well in the thread he recently mentions a renovation, but I'm mentioning this one anyway.
The Varsity Club (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=50889.0)
~It helped in making unrelated themed cabs not just tolerable, but maybe even popular. We all know this probably had a draw to the hobby for people that may not have been otherwise interested.
~The design was very innovative in many respects (dual monitors, lighting, controls, layout, artwork, theme), and the execution was pretty stellar as well.
~Won a mamey for cab of the year.

Xcelerator - by theCoder (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=57479.0;all)
- Epic driving cockpit cabinet! Probably the best on the board IMO. The documentation is wonderful, and his attention to details and driving "feel" is commendable.

hahaha, javeryh called it! He should have bought a lottery ticket that day. :)
***Edit: Also wanted to add a few more to the HoF.
Bombjack bartop - by psychotech (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=61679.80)
Great execution. Unique bartop shape, (love the "grinning" marquee), swappable CP...just awesome all together.
Mystery Machine - by shrunkenmaster (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=88316.0)
It's bright, it's cheerful, the whole theme was solidified well...and who doesn't like scooby doo?!
Galaxian Mame Conversion - by csa3d (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=59170.0)
I couldn't forget about this one. An oldie, but greatie. Part restore, part upgrade, rotating monitor with great documentation...the finished pics of it aren't there anymore, though this was an old thread.
A-kab - by Zobeid (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=78150.40)
Another awesome rotating monitor build (link: the rotavator explained (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=78150.40)).
Laser Multi Touch Projection Cocktail Table - by rdagger (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=87790.0)
The title says it all. This thing was so awesome. More documentation can be found here (http://rototron.info/default.aspx?Page=MT/MT.aspx)

All of my favourite have been named so far...Taxi Cab, Onds, Martijn's, Ryglore's, DrVenture's, Bella's, Mystery Machine, Mountains, Knievel's (pick one!), leapinlews, Bender's and so many more that may be copies or knock offs but are "best of class" in that respect: Javeryh's DK build, Opt2not's cocktail and so many more!
-

+1 I thought Kurts Pinball Cab http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=99924.80 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=99924.80) should be nominated, I know there are some other great virtual pinball machines out there but this is the one that impressed me in particular - well documented and great attention to detail
and my own ditto to previously mentioned Pixelhugger's awesome Mission Control for it's furniture quality elegance
There's one cab though that if I had to nominate a cab that is the best representation of what BYOAC is all about, a cab that screams pure arcade atmosphere and captures the nostalgia of the era yet is fresh and new it's your Aliens cab dude. Sure, I'm slightly biased, but it's your effort and experience learned through doing, that brought it to life.
-
isn't Ghost in the Machine also an obvious choice?
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=75411.0 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=75411.0)
“Doc Like” Modular Panels using Velcro for easier fabrication
Side Lit Etched Acrylic CP Art
Lighted Controls (So you know they are Plugged in!)
Laser Etched Acrylic Marquee with Luminglass Accent
Lighted “T-molding”
--> awesome!
-
Although this is an unfinished build, this one when complete will be a prime candidate. Wood working skills are phenomenal....
Project Quercus - Wilno45 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=97914.0)
-
One of my favorite "custom" cabinets ever is Aurich's Deep 6. Awesome theme, totally unique and excellent execution. Just an all around great cab and proof that simple and elegant work... plus it's got PINK! ;D

I'd nominate paulscade's "Blastoff" - well-documented, clean build with an interesting button layout and just overall good workmanship.
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=82241.0 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=82241.0)

Somehow I missed this one the first time through. Very nice. I especially like how he tweaked the 25" monitor.

Great cabinet. Simple is good.
I really liked the side art he had planned. Though I wish he would have followed-through with it. The look from the front is great, but once you see the plain sides it seems a bit "too simple" for me.

OMG - no one has mentioned ARTIFACT yet?? C'mon guys!!! ;D

How about restorations?
Level42's Galaxian No. 815 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=62784.msg715651#msg715651)
Level42's Star Wars Cockpit (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=68094.0)
Neil's Donkey Kong Restoration (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=70324.msg775564#msg775564)
RetroACTIVE's Defender Restore to Williams Multigame (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=65938.msg748987#msg748987)
Spyridon's Pac-man restoration - Return from Doh! (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=87614.msg1026271#msg1026271)
Spyridon's Centipede Restoration (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=87061.msg1047345#msg1047345)
Wade's Galaga restoration (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=46537.msg446653#msg446653) (most pictures lost though)
I think this thread is lacking Spacies' work too. Just about every cab he made is hall of fame worthy. Not sure if he actually documents his builds here though.
White and Chrome Cocktail (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=60783.0) (with instructional video (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=58191.0))
Skinny Galaga cab (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=71458.0)
He also made a few defender cabs (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=65938.msg725697#msg725697) that looked great and an amazing 3 sided cocktail (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=59359.msg822492#msg822492), but I can't find the project threads.
Besides I think it needs some PocketPC Galaga cabinets and Galaga birdhouses

Thanks guys! I'm glad I'm good for something around here... This is in my Top 5 for sure based on the artwork alone. It's a perfect name for a MAME machine and the retro artwork is just fantastic. Also, the control panel has a 2P 6 button setup with a trackball and spinner yet doesn't overhang the sides. It looks like it could have been a stand alone cabinet with its own game inside. Plus, the thread is a great read. I've thought about copying the name and artwork for my own similar cabinet on more than one occasion...
-
What projects would you put in the hall of fame, and why? Doesn't have to be a cabinet.
saint, this is a great thread you've started here, good timing. I don't know if you intended this, but with the large influx of new members in the last 6 months, this is a perfect thread to show off the history of the BYOAC projects and members. At the same time inspiring and possibly answering a lot of common newbie questions, through examples of other builds.
:applaud:
Also, how could I have forgot ARTIFACT ???
Such a beautiful cabinet!
-
Wow, thanks for the mentions guys!
Pretty much every cab I can think of off the top of my head has already been mentioned up til now. Awesome thread, especially for new members. But Also a great reference for taking a gander some amazing projects. :afro:
-
OK one more - waveryder's Bubblegum Betty. This is HOF material for candy cabs. All the artwork was custom. Came out perfect and most importantly.... it's PINK!!!! ;D

Seeing as I didn't see any showcase cabs, This one I think looks amazing
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=81413.0 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=81413.0)
All my other fav's are listed here, but the special one for me was mountains cab that made me want to give it a go at building one. The attention to detail (especially now I know how much work is involved) is crazy.
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=63629.0 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=63629.0)

That showcase is very nice except for the exposed trackball plate. That kills it for me.
But +10 for mountain's cab. I'm not completely sure, but I think that was the one that originally got me inspired when I first stumbled across this site. I seem to recognize the wiring from under the CP.
Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, it was Mountain's cab, Kneivel's cabs (esp the woody) and another called Jeff's Supercade, that were my original inspirations
But I don't think jeff's supercade is on this site anywhere.

Agreed, Sometimes flipping through the threads can be a bit intimidating. Nice to have a set location for referencing. I would not have seen a bunch of these. Artifact is dead sexy, I won't lie, I drooled a bit.

No kiddin', I'm just reading over the Bubble Gum Betty thread. What a great renovation build!

Ask me no questions I'll tell you no lies. Besides, writing another book would be a lot of work...
More HOF candidates anyone? :)

lol can i vote for my own mini pin? >:D

Besides, writing another book would be a lot of work...
And nobody on BYOAC has every been accused of doing a lot of work ;D
You have a publication date in mind?
-
lol can i vote for my own mini pin? >:D
I've vote for your pin if you vote for mine :) I thought I did a pretty good write up on the software setup in my build thread and wish I had come across something similar to it on here or the other forums like Hyperspin or VPF when I was learning and struggling through it all.

May I suggest a possible sticky for the time being?
That way folks who are new, or looking for inspiration can easily find the thread. Especially in case it falls off the front page? Not that I think it would any time soon. But still as a showcase of noteworthy projects I believe the thread should be stickied up there much like the Control Panel Database in the main forum. ;D

Nice job on the roll call, Ond..
Hmmm. You know, brass that up a bit, put some rivets on the letters, and replace the font with Peake, or Acadian, and that might be something I could use :)
-
OK one more - waveryder's Bubblegum Betty. This is HOF material for candy cabs. All the artwork was custom. Came out perfect and most importantly.... it's PINK!!!! ;D

Xcelerator - by theCoder (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=57479.0;all)
- Epic driving cockpit cabinet! Probably the best on the board IMO. The documentation is wonderful, and his attention to details and driving "feel" is commendable.
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=57479.msg689689#msg689689 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=57479.msg689689#msg689689)
It's an honor to be include this list. I learned a lot on the Xcelerator build. I played it regularly and got pretty good at Need for Speed and Forza. Unfortunately, after over $1,000 invested and countless hours on the build, I had to fire sale it just 2 days before my move to Austin TX. $250. Such a shame. The move has worked out great though. I lost my gameroom, but gained a 13 x 22 ft. dedicated woodshop. After the dust settles on the new home, I'd love to make a bartop pin. I've got some ideas brewing...
I'd contribute to the list but every project I thought of has already been mentioned.

My favorite upright is Martijn's for attention to detail and overall fit and finish.. first class all the way.
Martijn's Streetfighter (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=84649.0)
I second that. It's the most impressive build i have seen. Such a slick design, so well executed. Beautiful!
Or what about his no-mess control panel. It's laminated (all wires and PCB onder it) with PS/2 connections cut out. That's innovation! I am going to steal that idea:

Hello All !
I normally participate in the Audio/Jukebox/MP3 forum.
Got the itch for a cab project and I've been viewing some incredible arcade builds :applaud:...Still haven't decided which cab is my favorite. But I thought I'd show off my Jukebox that I completed a few months ago for those who may not visit the other forums.
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=98605.0 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=98605.0)
Congrats to all ! There all great builds!

I can't find any links, but i recall seeing the cabinet about a year ago...
Basically I think it was a kit build (Mameroom's Ultimate Arcade II, maybe?) cabinet.
Light Guns, maybe cup holders, trackball, don't recall the joysticks.
The artwork was this custom artwork he had drawn up for him. Kind of a collage of comic book styled images, iirc. it was like a blue vs red of comic books.
The artwork really made the machine. Everything on the machine was kind of so-so for HoF material, but the artwork... whooooooo!

I remember reading through that thread a few times before I found BYOAC. Even though it is a kit I really learned a lot from this build. It is very well documented and a great place for a newbie to read about the evolution of a project from start to finish to revision.
I agree the artwork is fantastic.

WOW... Why have I neverseen this thread... lol... Do we have to pick a favorite... LOL... I would have changed a couple of things on my build having seen this thread... I think my personal favorite... Old school...

Thank you!!! I was inspired by so many GREAT projects here as well... I learned so much from all of you... It's a snowball effect.
I hope the SketchUp CAD plans are useful to some too!
My family has enjoyed it for a few years already. I've been 100% happy with the way it's designed, built, and works: wire coin return button to the motherboard's POWER switch, Smart Strip to turn everything else on, Mala on boot, DEAD EASY no keyboard/mouse. Those were vital to make the experience end to end and pleasant IMHO. A nice machine should make you forget that it's a computer inside.
It's been wonderful for teaching my son (now 8 ) about the evolution of technology, game design, aestetics... He has an appreciation for the SIMPLE things that have changed so much over the years. He usually DOUBLES my points at the old favorites (Galaga, Donkey Kong, etc) which is surreal to see.
:)

How about Game Creature.
The overall design is very well done

I second the earlier nomination of Pixelhugger's Mission Control. It's not done, but it is an amazing example of what can be done with enough creativity (and time :) ) One can learn more from that project thread than many others combined.
-
Nope. Nope. Pixelhugger's Mission Control needs to be finished first. Time to put some pressure on this guy. We're not getting any younger. ;)

That must be one of the reasons I haven't received my nomination yet. Everybody's trying to figure out if I have any skills to actually build what's stuffed inside my head.
:D
-
Remember, Pixelhugger finished his mark-I build of Mission Control, which by rights should be in here anyways. Such an amazing styled cabinet, wonderfully shaped, and professionally executed. Period. Besides, the work he has done so far on Mark II is worthy. :notworthy:

I was actually thinking about nominating your wife. Seems like giving you permission that was quite the project in itself. ;) :lol

Thanks for the mention! It's still going strong

I would have to say the tron pinball virtual machine that's on here. It's amazing and the first vitual pinball to replicate the reflection element of a pinball 2000 machine. Simply stunning. :applaud:

I think if you click on the direct link you will be switched to the photobucket page and be prompted for a password as you say. If you click on the play button in the video player applet which should appear in my post then the video should play just fine within the current page i.e. this thread.
If you can't see the player applet then :dunno . Could be a browser issue. I've tried accessing the player applet from various peoples PC's including at work and it seems to go OK.

Wow, been ages since I've posted here, but I was searching for some info on my cab build that I knew I had in a post here and came across this thread. Very belated thanks to everyone who had nice things to say about my Deep 6 cabinet.
It's still running great, haven't done anything new to it or started any new projects, hence my absence, but I couldn't have done it without this community!

Silly rabbit, you can't nominate your own cab!

If you went without sex during your build, you did it wrong.

Its funny your not the only one to mention "rabbit" during the build, had to budget for batteries , at least she was smiling :) also used the "giant invisible rabbit" i was pet sitting for all the sawdust in the livingroom, note to future builds USE DUST SHEETS!! :)
-
If you went without sex during your build, you did it wrong.
I think it's safe to say that Ond and Pixelhugger are both in TOTAL agreement with this sentiment. :laugh2:

I fail to see why this build is HOF material. It's a kit build with a disproportately sized monitor. It's a great first outting but isn't earth moving IMHO.
-
:dunno
-
To be fair, the real Captain Caveman wasn't big on subtlety either, what with shouting his own name loudly before pounding the ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- out of stuff...
-
The real question is, has he built his own Swiss Army Club like Cavey had in the cartoon?
Now that would be impressive.

I hearby officially withdraw my entry to the hall of fame :laugh2: , I WAS genuinely tooting my own horn , had literally just connected the last wire and it worked first time, so i was buzzing and chuffed, so i entered it for a joke/laugh/bit of fun (few options to look up on google for some "He's just tooting his own horn and trying to get attention on a mediocre kit build. Im glad you came out and said it, I was trying to be reserved." there`re few judgmental sentences that invoke pity for the judge but you got it spot on, there`s someone out there for you honest :) ) I mean seriously i can tell its a turd rolled in glitter but i had a go, it turned out ok and as i`ve just joined this forum thought there`d be humour in saying i`m the greatest :) , i mean now i know i can do it maybe i`ll splash out on expensive vinyl, huge screens and controls the size of a nasa space launch centre, but i`m glad some of you saw the funny side, no swiss army club, the teen angels are giving me grief and i`ve been banned from playing with heavy blunt objects and power tools :badmood: , have fun people, big respect for you all, was glad to be a part of it :applaud:
a comment was pointed out to me "I fail to see why this build is HOF material. It's a kit build with a disproportately sized monitor. It's a great first outting but isn't earth moving IMHO" the only thing about my cabinet that was a kit was an arcade builders kit which was a bunch of buttons , a mini-pac , two joysticks and a coin mech the actual cabinet is ALL my own work made from an 8ft x 4ft 18mm mdf and a 12mm 8ft x 4ft mdf board some baton and a shed load of screws and vinyl just wanted to clarify that, and i still know it isnt HOF worthy but credit where credits due.

Very nice compact bartop that has everything you need to play all those fine games :notworthy:

Its great seeing all these beautiful machines in one thread and I'm honored to have mine included.
I really love rockyrockets Tempest(ish) cabaret. I think its one of the classiest builds ever and g-rock26's Project Morph is very cool and innovative.

:soapbox: you know what I love? When somebody posts their own build in the HoF thread because they think it will drum up positive response over on their build thread. L.O.V.E. THAT!

Seconded. If your project has been around for a few weeks with only one comment (and that comment isn't about the quality of the build), it's probably not HoF worthy.
Also, I don't like your artwork. The way you have Chun-Li folded over like that just looks odd. The vagina speaker doesn't help, either.
I will give you credit for this line, though - it made me laugh:
"I was finally finishing up with my mega----smurfette--- crazy stabby ex"

Uhhhh, no.
Nice try at the self-promotion though.
-
Cant blame him for trying we all dream to be here, my goal is to eventually be in here if i don't make it with my current rig (which i doubt will as its my first)
my second machine will be!
It has been some time since we have seen a HOF machine though.

Make the cab for yourself, and your needs, not for the validation of others.
If your cab ends up in here, great, you did an exceptional job and had processes and techniques that should be examples to others. At the same time, your cab's theme was well executed, and is one that people would love to own for themselves.
But the bottom line is, promoting your own to get into the HTF is kinda low. If people think your project is exceptional, it'd be in here.

Yeah totally get that it is to promote your own was just saying that alot of people would love to be in here.
On the note of building the machine for your needs my machine isn't actually for me, i am building it as a birthday present for my daughter.
I hope to un-vale it next year on her birthday.

(which i doubt will as its my first)
You never know. The SHMUP was my 1st cab build ever and it got listed. It took me 3-4 months to get it where I wanted it and when I started I was asking the community here for all kinds of input. When it was all said and done it turned out to be well liked by lots of folks.
-
I haven't been here in years, and really love the cabs in this thread!!!
ECHO BASE is beauuuuutiful.
ARTIFACT
-
I would agree. Echo Base is probably my favorite scratch build ever.
-
My favorite is one posted on here years ago called the green machine or something to that effect, but I can't find it.
Most of these are so perfect they look computer generated...

I think I would like to nominate Blip. The elegant retro design, the hidden swappable cp, the LCD marquee, the LEDs for the game controls.

It's usually considered poor form to nominate your OWN project for this thread.
-
Especially when it's a project you didn't even post here initially.

ohhhh
i didn't understand that only other project could be nominanted, sorry ;-)

Wow, thanks for a great review of projects. So many great projects!

I'm sure I saw this cab on here, it had a LCD mounted vertically to maximize on screen space between pinball and mame? Vs rotating a screen?

Looking back through some of the builds in this thread, I'd say all the 2015 UCA winners deserve a spot here.
