Title: New Atari / Alan-1 Star Wars Yoke to Arcade1up Adapter
Post by: mydentist on September 07, 2020, 03:55:16 pm
Star wars is by far my favorite arcade game of all time.  When you learn how to navigate the death star trenches using just the force to earn the extra 100k bonus, it really is quite something.
Amazing what Jed and the team created back in 1983.

I'm glad Arcade1Up has released a repro version of Star Wars. They did a great job on it.  The controller works fine but after time, just like with the original yokes, the wear and tear begins to make the game unplayable.  The curser will start to jump around and you won't be as precise as you need to be to fly through the trenches on the higher levels.

Real yokes are expensive, but they are worth it IMO.
We've build a plug and play adapter that lets you install either the Alan-1 yoke or the Atari star wars yoke into a Arcade1Up.

Takes about an hour or so to install.  Instructions are found here:

I know  with the yoke and this adapter, it makes the game more expensive.  Most authentic Star Wars arcade games are selling for 3k or so with working vector monitors.  If you upgrade your star wars arcade1Up with a real yoke, all you're missing would be the vector effects from the CRT that can't be accurately emulated on the LCD and you saved yourself about 2.2k.

Alan-1 yokes are also in stock here:
