Apparently, this is an arcade only release. However, they are taking pre-orders on JAMMA kits if you wanted to purchase it. Game looks good. My buddy Joe Szabo is creating the artwork for the cabs.

I seent it.
Only thing I don't like is the 6 buttons and it's horizontal...
But I wouldn't mind dropping a few quarters in that machine.
-
I wish them well but this doesn't make the trouser mouse do anything.
-
I played it in Chicago in December. It is a lot of fun.

I'm pretty sure it is only 3 buttons. Some of their early demo machines had a full Street Fighter CP making it look like 6 buttons.

That art though

Every game looks good in an HS5 Dynamo cab.
Where's that rep button?
-
The rumor is there might be one at zapcon, Del. I seem to remember hearing something like that. But don't take that as gospel.
-
Oh, and I posted about this game like a year or two ago. I kind of like the previous art. Joe does great work, but I think that's really busy.

I'll confirm with the developers. That would be SWEET to cover at the show.

I touched base with the organizers. It's SUPPOSED to be there. So yes, should be fun.

make this game also in a rom/game.exe format and im sure alot of folks like myself would love to purchase it and add it to our machines.
-
I played this game at the Louisville Arcade Expo. They had it in the dynamo and then they had a little Sega Dinosaur King converted to play it and it was the raddest little thing.
Artistically it's a great game. I love the style of it all.
It's just an okay shmup though.

Judging by how they are doing this I get the feeling they expect a PREMIUM for it. I'd drop 20 bucks on a exe and maybe a hundred or so for a PCB but I get this feeling their price point is closer to 600
-
They got back to me. Just confirmed their cheapest kit is $650 (candy cab kit).
-
Ugh. That's what I was afraid of.
-
$650? Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn....
-
Yeah. Good luck with that.
-
Yeah, so after they only sell 20 of them, they'll give in and sell it as a PC game for $5....
-
Shmuping is a rich man's game.
Part of the reason my cab stands incomplete.
But yeah if you're going to go to all this trouble to homebrew a Shmup then you gotta spend time on the mechanics otherwise it's just a very very well polished turd.
-
And Raizing and Toaplan and pretty much anything that is good.
-
disappointing to hear about that pricing model. Failure at best im afraid. They are literally limiting their audience and revenue stream. I love shmups as it is probably one of my favorite genre of arcade games, but not $650 love for one(granted its a full kit) hehe.
-
First thing I did was check to see if it was at Barcade in Philly. If it was, then I'd make the trip there and spend $20 on beers. I'm probably not the only one.
-
Yeah, they pretty much limited their audience to barcades with that pricing model. I am not going to drop $1000 for a kit of a game that literally no one will ever recognize. Once I count the value of $300 for a perfect conversion cabinet I am at $1300. $1300 will buy 3 games that are better than this one.
-
I've played it a few times at two different locations and while it looks really good, to be honest, it didn't wow me.
If I understand the business model, the intention is to develop and sell the hardware as a platform with Skycurser just being the first game. The point *is* to limit it to arcades and not sell to home users.
It's a cool idea, but without a really impressive game, I don't see it happening. Then again, the game isn't complete so maybe it'll play better with a few more revisions.
-
If that is their business plan they need a new business plan thinker upper guy.

You've got a real way with sounds we use to to convey ideas

Its a superpower. Superman got all the good ones.
-
Even if they sold all fucher games for under $20 once you have the hard ware, I t's still a big risk that they will be making and releasing that seconded game.
