Title: CRT Emudriver, Taito Type X and other pc based arcade
Post by: Nodoyuna on December 01, 2017, 07:11:05 am
Hi
Lately, I'm in the process of getting those pc based arcade games to work... I've tried some of them and they seems to work ok, but I'd like to go a step further and try to use native resolutions and refresh rate for those games

As far as I've discovered, all Taito Type X games are 640x480@60, and Type X2 and Nesica games are 640x480@60 in low resolution mode and 1280x720 in high resolution mode...

Is this correct?

Also, what's the refresh rate for Type X2 high resolution mode?

Thanks in advance

All games are syncing to 60 Hz. To use those games on arcade monitor/TV You have to set desktop resolution 640x480@60i. Street Fighter IV and Samurai Showdown does not look too good at 640x480. Some games like BlazeBlue does not show correctly graphics. Basically older Taito X games will be ok but Taito X2 games not too much.

All games works fine under XP. Under 7 and newer with legacy cards (Radeon HD4xxx and older) You have to use either positive sync in crt_range or Interlace Patcher (freash tool). Some of those games might still not work correctly under windows 7, more over even more does not work correctly under windows 10 (Homura and Shikigami no Shiro III are not syncing to 60 Hz anymore)

Hi
Thanks for the answer and sorry for my late reply...

I'm on Windows 7 and have a TV set for 15KHz games and a tube VGA monitor for 31KHz ones...

I have to note that CRT Emudriver is only installed on the VGA output, which is connected to the 15KHz TV

Taito Type X games works fine at 640x480 at 60Hz in both screens

Most Type X2 games works fine too, but some like the Blazblue ones, works for me at 30Hz, so they're slow

Other games are slow too, like KOF XII, but using D3DOverrider seems to fix those

I've seen mentioned in the forum that having the ddraw.dll file helps too, but I'm not sure of the purpose of it and it it's really needed or not...

I'm open for suggestions :D

Thanks in advance

I thought it was some HD 4xxx old card.

Anyway, this new tool might (or might not) help: http://geedorah.com/eiusdemmodi/forum/viewtopic.php?id=344 (http://geedorah.com/eiusdemmodi/forum/viewtopic.php?id=344)

Windows 7 x64
Amd R9 360 2gb
CRT Emudriver 2.0 - beta 14
15khz arcade monitor

I'm currently going trough a Tetris (TGM) phase! Yesterday I got hold of 'Tetris: The Grand Master 3 Terror Instinct' which works fine. I then also download the AltInput (https://forum.facepunch.com/f/games/uhfx/Tetris-the-Grand-Master/1/) better Input Hack which contains the files tgm3.cfg, tgm3_input.dll, demo_dump.exe and tgm3_launcher.exe.

In the tgm3.cfg file I set the resolution to 640 480 but the game's video output on screen is fuzzy and scrolling BUT if I bring up the windows Task Manager over the top of TGM3 the display is ok.

Maybe game is forcing 60p instead of 60i.
