Title: REVIEW: TMNT Arcade1Up…Stool
Post by: romshark on December 06, 2020, 08:21:51 pm
So, on a whim I decided to pick up the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade1Up stool. Picked this up from Walmart for $79.00. It’s the only Arcade1Up product I’ve ever owned, but should go nice with my scratch-built TMNT cabinet.

As advertised on the box, the stool can be either 21.5” or 29.5” (54.66cm or 74.9 cm). The stool is rated for 290 lb (130 kg).

Inside the box was the padded seat, legs, foot ring, leg extenders, bolts, shims for leveling, and hex wrenches. Only the hex wrenches are needed to assemble it. The instructions and warranty paperwork were in the same plastic wrap as the seat pad.

Here are the labels on the bottom of the seat, for those who want to know.

Assembly was straightforward. Bolt the legs to the seat pad, and mount the foot ring. I think most people here could assemble it without issue.

Here it is, in front of my (NOT Arcade1Up) TMNT cab. I could have done without the Arcade1Up logo and Nickelodeon logo, but they’re not annoyingly big or anything. Also, this is the stool in the lower configuration.

Compare the stool image to the same artwork on the cab itself.

Here is the stool with the leg extenders on. Since I’m on a carpet, I didn’t find a need to put in the leveling shims. (Yes, I know the cabinet artwork has some bubbles and tears. Still not bad enough to justify replacing yet.)

Here’s both heights of the TMNT stool compared with my regular stool (Also from Walmart. I paid about $17 back in 2009 for that one). The TMNT stool is softer, and probably will be more comfortable for longer play sessions.

I think I’ll keep it in the taller mode. I’m about 6 ft. tall, but in its shorter configuration, my hands on the controls are at about shoulder height on both my cabinets (its 40 inches from the floor to the center of the TMNT joystick ball.) If something breaks or I have other issues, I'll report back.
