This is the BYOAC High Game Scoreboard. The scores are from the High Score Competition threads. If you missed a competition, here's your chance to beat that score. You can submit any of your high scores from MAME or your arcade games. I have listed some other popular games that do not have high scores yet. You can submit a score from any game.

- The BYOAC High Game Scoreboard is open to anyone and everyone, including MARP and Twin Galaxies competitors.

- To submit a high score, just post a screenshot (press F12 to save screenshot) or take a picture of your final score. List the game, score, and rom that you used.

- One credit only!

- Default settings, unless other is specified!

- No continues or adding credits!

- No pausing during the game!

- No MAME cheats!

- No savestates, savestate practices, etc. during the round.

- MAME INP recordings are encouraged but optional.

- Use of autofire or other non-standard hacks within MAME or your PC's OS are not allowed. No program or other person or entity of any sort may manipulate your controls during your game.

Best of luck!

I created a high game scoreboard. (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=113948.0) It was more work than I expected, digging through all those threads finding the scores.

You just needed to do a search under "high score" by epyx, and find this thread (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=95670.msg1007221;topicseen#msg1007221) just a little ways down (wherein, I would've asked to have it re-newed under your stewardship).

I don't need to ask for access to Epyx's thread because the quote feature will show all the links. I already put in the links to the competitions. What am I missing?

I think 1.1 is possible, maybe a bit higher. Not checked TG

I think hample beat that record in Brooklyn's Barcade, I think it was on a pengo to arkanoid conversion, I think he signed the inside of the cabinet and maybe walter day did also i don't remember with silver sharpie and it was for sale on KLOV I thought about buying it but I passed.

Holly crap... I had no idea about Zack Hample and his baseball catching.. forgetting about the arcade games.. Dude caught over 5,000 baseballs.... He obviously is good with trajectory which would explain alot in terms of arkanoid... He clearly knows math / angles very well. I'm now pretty impressed with that dude and I give him alot more credit and respect.

It's quite cool that someone relatively well known outside of games has a couple of records.

I point-pressed the first few rounds earlier, but really need a lucky game - lots of 1UPs and lots of Bs would be handy. Got 35k on round 1 tho.

The problem I have with Arkanoid is controller-related. MAME+spinner-wise, there's a always a slight lag or over-correction in the tracking. Perhaps because the control isn't original. Sometimes, there's even screen tearing.

I'm not sure what spinner your using on my MAME set up I have a Turbo Twist 2 from groovy game gear and it runs alright.

Drawfull however is playing what looks like on his dedicated Jungle King / Elevator Action taito to arkanoid conversion cabinet :
(http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/6148/indexxa.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/148/indexxa.jpg/)
I love taito cabinets, nice looking curves don't take up a ton of room... It sucks Arkanoid never had a dedicated "Upright" cabinet I know they had that bar table top one (owner pookdolie on KLOV):
(http://img845.imageshack.us/img845/9571/pklovarka.png) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/845/pklovarka.png/)

but I don't really count that. So many other great classics like Bubble Bobble, Gun.Smoke,Twin Cobra etc... that never had a true dedicated cabinet.

I'm pretty sure I used to get tearing (of the vaus) with a TT2, but I don't currently have a MAME set up to try. Saying that it didn't affect the gameplay afair. The resolution was fine.. what spinner are u using?

I've used a Slik Stik spinner, and a TT2, with all kinds of MAME settings. The original Arkanoid control is like the Pole Position wheel, geared. And by tearing, I meant screen tear, which looks to be a different effect. (Of course, every now and then, I see tearing on the girders in Donkey Kong.)

1943 is a shooter and a Capcom game. You can bet there are people here who can rock it. I'm not a seriously player and have broken a million, and crested it a few times (although lately I can't get past the fourth boss.....)

For example: 858,300

This was just a game to see whether I could beat your score. MAME 144u5. I survived the fourth boss, but I only by bein yella at the end. I swear! All the enemy plane fire is super fast on the seventh board! I don't recall that, and wonder whether that's accurate in current MAME? Anyone know?

I think I have it in for jasonbar. This is also a new personal best.

Satan's Hollow (MAME 144u5) 232,290 .  This was the second of two incidental games. In the first one, I tried 'early crossings' to build up my firepower, but that didn't work. The second time, I used my old method of getting through fifteen boards before crossing. I then impressed myself with a lot of very clever shooting, maneuvering, and shield use (in the process learning there is actually some strategy to the game as it goes on). At the end, I actually blew it on a simple 4x4 bird board, because I was trying to make blocks for the bridge, and wasted my shield crossing underneath the down-coming flock. Oh, also, I think it cheated me once; note second snap.

I'm waiting for someone to come along and destroy my 1943 score....but in the mean time, while getting to about the same place, I bested my last by about a hundred thousand.

949,390  MAME 144u5  (The bullets didn't seem as fast this time, though some of the fusilades of them seemed different.)

Even though I went into the boss stage (7) with full energy and lots of weapon time, AND some totally stupefying flying, I still didn't make it. (That's only a medium cruiser. The destroyer is after that!) It's a hard one.

Track & Field, standard settings - 376670

Made it to round 6 I think...

The hammer and high jump are the hard ones for me.

They used to be for me as well (took me forever to even figure out how to do the high jump).  Tip for the hammer: watch the yellow bar along the bottom of the screen--time the throw when it is at the halfway point of the far right blue block.  Of course, keep the jump/throw button held for a second or so to get as close to a 45° angle as possible).  The high jump is more of a "feel" thing for me.  I time the jump as close as possible to the bar (without knocking the bar off on the way up, of course).  As soon as I hit jump/throw I'm immediately doing a "drumroll" on the L&R run buttons; then when the dude has just about topped out, I keep the drumroll going but add in the jump/throw button with only my right hand (simultaneously hitting jump/throw and the right run button) until he's cleared the bar.  So basically (really, really fast): Jump / L / R / L / R / L / R / L / R / (then without breaking rhythm, when he reaches just about max height): L / R+J / L / R+J / L / R+J, etc.  Hope that makes sense.

Oddly, in the later rounds when the qualify distance is 90m, the javelin throw gets me more than the hammer and high jump ever did.

Here's my latest game from the other night: 452300

Not a terribly hard game, but I can't imagine it on Difficulty 8!

A long time coming, but finally!

Time Pilot 84 - 237,600

It's really not personal. Jasonbar just happens to have scored high on games I like, and like to score high on also.

I've gotten 45k on this in much earlier MAME. If it's not accurate in current MAME, it's at least a lot harder, hence the [measly] 12110.

No Guzzler listing, but since I have what I think is a pretty good score, here it is.

I have a new mappy score. Not my best, but current. And perhaps my best end-of-first-board score.

Gyruss - 475,400  today on my vert cab, an impromptu game.

I had 469k - which I thought I radically beat.... - but that was two and half years ago.  I may've done better, but the stick I was using I was a little unfamiliar with (a Sanwa), and once I just slacked and didn't move out of the way of a lone bullet....

Oh. No one has posted on Xevious. Well here's a new high for me. It was a 'fire the rig up, and, oh that's the game I had on last time.....let's play it!'

Good christ. I knew this would happen. A gay fumbling move cheats me out of passing the board, and a good lead. But I, finally, on newer MAME, beat the posted record. Not that I was trying. I just wanted to play a game or few (I reset a couple times), and my last one was great.

Oh...wait...I thought the score was 169k. But it was only 162. Okay, not so bad, then. Still a gay death.

Fired up 1943 again, and ran up a great score.

Thought I was going to break 2 million (2 guns away) but a plane came out of nowhere and took me out.

I see Galaxian doesn't have a submission. It's one of my favourites. Therefore I hereby submit my score of 24770 so that I can be top dog for once, even if just for a day  ;D

Please, no one beat it until I have a screen caption of the list with my name in it :duckhunt

edit: you guys rock!  ;D

Here's *my* Spy Hunter high score. As you can see, it's far beyond what I've gotten before. Finally made it into the boat house, too! Kind of anti-climactic, though, as it's kind of slow, and not much happens.

After all these years how come no one has ever written some software to parse the binary MAME high score files, upload them to common database?

Hiscore hasn't been supported in MAME for an age, anyways. Not that the topic belongs in this thread, mind.

Surprised no one has posted a top score for Space Invaders yet (or else just hasn't made a link).  Well, I'll bite and post my not so high score and get 15 minutes of fame until it's knocked off.

3200 (just a little short of my best at 3570).

Anyone else play Exidy Crash (crash.zip)?  Not on the list at all, but I discovered it because I played its clone, "Car Wars" on the TI-99/4A all the time when I was a kid.  Got to the second screen, almost got past.  6650.

Here's my current high score on Shaolin's Road I got a couple weeks ago on my cocktail cabinet. Haven't attempted to top it yet. Took a long time and I actually just gave up at the end of the run since it was 2:30 in the morning and my button mashing arm was sore!
