I'm a bit confused about this. If Shawnzilla commissioned the translucent buttons directly from IL (as Happ were originally not interested in getting involved with their manufacture) then how can Happ now be the exclusive distributors?

Happ is the exclusive of IL product in North & South America. How Shawnzilla obtained the product first is his secret. I knew as soon as this stirred up Happ would find out. Happ did put in for that button over 2 years ago but at that time there must not have been enough interest but guess what they found out there is now.

There's nothing wrong with Ponyboy (and other suppliers) having access to the buttons. It actually makes life easier, since I don't have to frantically worry about getting more batches in.
I'm just one small person who provided leaf-switch samples and convinced IL to make the buttons, and I'm ecstatic that they did it. I don't have the deep pocket of a company like Happ, so there was no way to keep them exclusive. Depending on my own sales, I'll probably finish up the batch I ordered and step back to let vendors like Ponyboy sell them.
And just for the record, Ponyboy is a great vendor and an excellent human being. I fully support what he's able to do for this community.

That's weird several posts have disappeared since I last looked at this thread. ::)
Based on what little we've been told so far the arrangement between Happ, IL and Shawnzilla doesn't make a lot of sense and I can therefore only assume we're not getting the full story. But if Shawnzilla is happy with the arrangement then I suppose there is no reason for the rest of us to complain.

Does anybody know how effectively these buttons can be lit with mini light bulbs mounted near the underside of the button? I don't think I have the patience for LED's.

As soon as I get mine, I'm planning on trying it with std mini bulbs, LED cannons, and possibly one or two other gizmo's to try and make it light effectively with minimal work.

Make sure you are clicking "keep a copy of this in my outbox" when you send them.
It is off by default, so you won't have a copy.

When Happ puts items in the Sales Flyer I do not get any price breaks on those items such as the 49 way or the P360 Joysticks. Usually this means they have overstock.

Ponyboy, if you're able to obtain IL products that are not listed in the Happ catalogue (i.e. red & blue Super joysticks) then would you consider stocking some of the other IL joysticks listed on their site such as their 4/8 way spring action joystick ref:A03552 (sold as the T-Stik through Ultimarc)?

Ponyboy, will the red and blue Super joysticks be supplied with both long and short sleeves so their height can be adjusted? The reason I ask is that I once purchased a Super joystick direct from IL and they only supplied one sleeve with it.
Also, can you tell me what colours the sleeves will be? IL give you the choice of a sleeve to match the bat colour, or a metallic sleeve.
The metallic sleeves look better IMHO but they're made of plastic coated with metallic paint instead of solid metal, and unfortunately I've noticed the paint has a tendency to come off over time. I think it would be better if the joysticks were supplied with solid metal sleeves even if that means they cost more.
Also, if there any news on the pricing of the A03552 Joysticks?

That's weird. I don't know why Happ cannot get those joysticks but is able to obtain translucent buttons from the same manufacturer which are probably even more of a niche product.
But I do know that there is definitely a demand because so many people here have bought exactly the same joystick from Ultimarc. I suspect that many people don't realise that they are made by the same company that supply Happ's other microswitch joysticks and therefore don't bother asking Happ for them.

Question: Do the translucent buttons light up or do I have to modify them by putting LEDs in them? Does Happ sell blue translucent buttons that do lightup that I could hook to my computer's power supply? If so then I would rather go with those over the ones I have listed above.

Which is no big deal really, it just took a couple of days for me to get to the post office which resulted in a delay in payment 'cause I didn't know the total. hmm...eerie. and i just asked you about two months ago as to how many times you'd been screwed...you said 5 i think it was, for a total of around $260. did it take a large jump since then? how much did you end up getting stiffed for, by how many people total?

While a LOT of people do that, it's against the PayPal TOS to charge the fees and you can have your account shut down if you're caught doing it. A lot of people try to get away with it by offering a 5% discount for cash or money order payments, but it's still not totally legal.

Merchant accounts and retail stores don't work any differently. If you find a store that charges a customer MORE for using a credit card, report them and they can have their Visa/MC/Amex account pulled.
Believe it or not, but It's not an eBay rule just to screw you over, it's a Credit Card company rule to prevent cost discrimination against Credit Card use. If an item costs a customer more when they use a credit card than if they were to use cash then people are going to avoid using the card.
Adding a credit card surcharge just also happens to be against the law in some states.
Since 1984, when a Truth in Lending law ban on surcharges expired, some states have enacted laws prohibiting surcharges; see States That Prohibit Credit Card Surcharges (http://www.gofso.com/Premium/LE/06_le_ic/fg/fg-merchants.html#MORE:B).
Visa and MasterCard prohibit surcharges, and American Express discourages them. No. Look at the original post for your misunderstanding. It says for Ponyboy to pass along the cost for using Paypal, not for using a credit card through paypal. That's the key difference in what I said versus what you are saying.
The equivalent for stores is adding a base cost to all merchandise to cover their merchant fees instead of simply charging for the convenience of using a credit card. But the end result for the consumer is the same as those companies are not merely eating that expense.

I will keep this nice and simple. I will accept PayPal with no fees or surcharges and I will still keep my low pricing. The only time you will see an increase is when my suppliers increase their costs.

I received my Wico grommets today, and thanks for the quick service.
They are the right size, and install perfectly. They do appear to be new, and the rubber is crack-free.
However, they also seem to be considerably more flexible than the ones I'm used too. I seem to recall RandyT mentioning that the company that made these originally made them in varying strengths- I wonder if these might not be a lighter grade than the ones that Wico originally installed.
I'm not sure yet if they are too flexible- I'll have to do some playtesting tomorrow.

Ok, I've done some investigating today. Results:
I opened up 7 different Wico arcade sticks, and one Command Control stick. The arcade sticks varied in condition from "rusted junk" to NOS. One user pointed out to me that the Wico grommets they had seen were silver, not bronze in color. Of the sticks I opened, only two were silver, one of which was the Command Control stick. The rest were bronze, the same as Ponyboy's. There were no consistent markings stamped into the rubber or elsewhere. All of the grommets were of the same approximate stiffness, except for the ones from Ponyboy, which are noticably softer.
I installed one of Ponyboy's in a stick and compared the feel to one of the arcade sticks that was in good condition. I could definately feel the difference, but the Ponyboy grommet worked fine- the stick just wasn't as stiff. I've actually seen some user comments to the effect that they think the Wico sticks were too stiff, so these grommets may be the answer for them. They're certainly better than an old, used grommet that feels uneven due to the cracks in the rubber. These do feel about as stiff as Wico sticks with a spring in their base, like most of the microswitch based Wico sticks do.
I would say these are a viable fix for a Wico with a torn/cracked grommet, but anybody planning to use them should replace the grommets in every Wico stick on their control panel at the same time if they want a consistent feel from stick to stick. They are not reccomended for players who like a really stiff feel to their Wico, but should be great for anybody who thinks that standard Wico's are too stiff, or prefers the feel of a "broken in" one. They're probably also a good match for anybody with spring-based Wicos.

I know ponyboy had parts being shipped but at least the first batch got stuck in customs for who knows how long it's been now. I don't know what the deal is with his second batch. I'm guessing he put that he's backordered because he only has enough in those two batches to meet current orders that he's taken and thus he is backordered for the time being since he doesn't even have those parts yet. But ponyboy is really nice and responds fairly quickly. He has a real job and such so give him a day or two and even three. If you haven't heard from him by then either post here or send a friendly reminder.

Is there anyway to tell what size they are? I don't have the machine in hand yet, but I can open it up when I do to get better pics then. I notice you have every color except yellow in 3.5 but you do have a yellow ball, so do I just get the other three colors and an orange one and add a yellow ball to my order?
Also, see how the yellow player is missing a button? Do you have that yellow? I thought it was normal yellow, but it kind of looks a little oragne so I'm not sure.
Anyway, if you know for sure what these are, add them to an order for me and I'll PP. If you are not 100%, at least hang on to them for me until I get the machine in about a week if you don't mind. I don't want to miss out on these joystick tops incase you only have a few left.

I just wanted to post how great it was doing business with Ponyboy. I order parts on Friday and received them Tuesday. I haven't hooked everything up, but the 2-4-8 way restrictor plate on the Seimitsu LS-32's I order are going to work great. I already like the feel of the four-way restrictor.

Well, since Happ has purchased their new facility in China it looks like they will be trying to manufacture their own parts. As many of you know already their new product such as the Competion Joystick is lacking the fine quality of iL.
I will be stocking the original Competiton Joysticks from iL. They will be 9.95 ea.

Honestly, I for one, and I am sure others, would be happy to pay an extra 25-30% to have these leafswitch brackets... I wasn't in to the hobby much when you had them last and I REALLY would like a few sets now...we are talking about at least 20 of them or more.

The leafswitch brackets are on hold. I have another manufaturer sending a quote. Recent manufacturer had a 25% increase due to lower volume.
I will keep you posted.
Honestly, I for one, and I am sure others, would be happy to pay an extra 25-30% to have these leafswitch brackets... I wasn't in to the hobby much when you had them last and I REALLY would like a few sets now...we are talking about at least 20 of them or more.
I would also buy some for a little higher price right now. I have tried cherries, and I have GGG micro-leafs now, but I really want to try these. Could we do a pre-order or group buy of some kind? I am in for at least 16 of them.

Yeah...saw that. Was wondering if he was still responding to e-mails...but I've gotten some warnings from others about order delays, etc., so I may go with someone else I guess :/ Which means $15 more on just the buttons I was going to order which is annoying but what are you going to do.

I'm upgrading my joysticks & ditching the black bats for proper red balls, finally.
I'm looking for 1.5" diameter red joystick balls with an M6x1.0 thread. I'd like them to match (as closely as reasonably possible) to my beloved Wico 4" Robotron joysticks. I don't need the shafts--just the balls themselves.
I didn't see this item in this thread, but I certainly might have missed it!
The balls are to go on 4 Ultimarc Mag-Stik Plus shafts, so I need 4.
Please let me know availability and cost + shipping to 91107 if you've got them.
