Title: Video card advice: CRTEMUDRIVER + Oculus rift
Post by: ignignot on April 05, 2019, 09:22:27 am
So i am working on a racing cab, its got a CRT (wg d9200) and i eventually want to get an oculus rift to play newer games with (assetto corsa and others) while using crt emudriver for outrun, pole position, etc.

Are there any graphics cards out there i should be aiming for? Is the ATI R9 380 my best bet,  is this an inherently flawed setup? I mean using crtemudriver, and an oculus rift on the same pc.

Haha Is the advice to just ditch the crt?

Any one here put a 32"hdtv in a nfs GT? What did you use for the bezel

I dont know what oculus rift is. But your in the wrong subforum. Click on groovymame. There is some recent threads on best video card. Keep crt.

Its a VR headset. I am making a force feedback racing cab.

Besides crusin usa, sf rush and some model2/3 stuff, I am targeting newer sim games as well so I can play them with a vr headset.

I don't want to ditch the CRT but I DO want to do VR

What VR racing games do you plan on playing? I was looking through the Steam library this weekend trying to see what was out there.
We tried a little American Truck Simulator in VR, but I was shocked how quickly I got motion-sick (and I never get motion sick playing vr).

I mentioned assetro corsa in the first post, then project cars 1 and 2, dirt rally. Been reading about google 3d maps possibly being used to create a real world(scenery) racer, so i would like to be set up maybe for something that comes out in the next year or two as well.

Went with an R9 380x. Paired with the i3 8350k, asset to corsa runs well in VR but i am getting notifications that my cpu is pinned at 99% utilization..  Maybe I should have gone with the i7, but the 4.0ghz i3 really pushes sf rush in mame well

So I've been playing more, and the 90's 3D racers look AMAZING in oculus virtual desktop.  If you zoom in so the screen is larger than your periphary there is a slight vr effect from the screen stretch.
Played with sf rush, scud, and daytona USA so far.  I am THRILLED with the results i am having
