Quick update! Seeing a previous post someone mentioned using usb image tool and a cf card reader.
I got a cf reader to usb, loaded up usb image tool, put the original 512gb cf card in and did a backup.

After it was complete I put the new 1gb in and restored the 512mb image... went to the orion, put the 1gb in and the system booted... I put my usb stick and did a factory reset... I now have to make a video (I plan to make a tutorial for this as well) and record the 512mb game list vs the 1gb... but seeing 2 categories I definitly have more games / the game list I found online. Really excited now!

I may have missed it, as I've been out of the forum for a few years. Is there a BOM list for this project?

I've already bought a "license" for gun4IR and just want to figure out whats going to the best and easiest for me.

I have CRT arcade cabs but Would still love line of sight accuracy on flat panels and the like.

Appreciate all your hard work as I've skimmed this you guys are absolute Mad lads!

Ok so it's been a couple of years since I donated. Is this still the most up to date version from my link?

JB_GUN4IR_GUI_1.26_FW_2.64.zip

If not, may I please email you JB for an update?

Additionally, If I purchase this https://rpegelectronics.com/products/universal-gun4ir-diy-pcb?pr_prod_strat=jac&pr_rec_id=6a4074826&pr_rec_pid=7500555387069&pr_ref_pid=7150185021629&pr_seq=uniform

Aside from a gun shell, what else is needed to be purchased? I'm trying to decide if I want to build this or just put sindens on the credit card and hide from my wife.

Thanks all.
Daniel

Much appreciated, firedance! I guess that it's no longer '100% recycled' since I had to buy some finishing materials, but I'm still pretty happy with it for the $40 odd budget.

Read my full post, I did indeed try that.

I do have an update though since I got it working. Perhaps using the newest version of the FFB plugin was letting me down with the older MAME in Virtua Racing.  I did a little more digging and found that there's a fella still compiling new versions of mame for 32bit, you can find them here: https://www.progettosnaps.net/mameui/

Updated to a newer version of mame32 (I think I grabbed .252) and along with the most current version of the MAME32 FFB Plugin Virtua Racing is working!  So, not the most direct solution but hey it all works now.  The last piece of the puzzle for me is Flycast, but if it's using only mame64 I don't think there's much hope for getting that going on my setup.

i did some messing around with Vector games, i tried Mameui with Hlsl enabled & GM.

I find that i like GM with hlsl enabled & switchres enabled for Vector Games .

With GM i created the game.ini (astdelux.ini)example  with only the hlsl & vector lines in there

# CORE VECTOR OPTIONS
# DIRECT3D POST-PROCESSING OPTIONS
# VECTOR POST-PROCESSING OPTIONS
# BLOOM POST-PROCESSING OPTIONS

the bloom scale will add that glow to the vector lines
then some other settings that you can adjust in CORE VECTOR OPTIONS

i am enjying asteroids deluxe , still busy setting up the others as well

hope this helps

You need to boot from the install ISO. Personally I've had no luck using USB drives to boot. The only way I've got it to work is by writing the ISO to and booting from a portable hard drive

As far as more games go with the 1gb card, I know that's the case with itouch11. Sounds like it could be true with 10 also

Hi  GPForverer2024!

I should have mentioned, configurations made with older versions won't be compatible with V1.5.0D3, sorry about that. The configurations in the D3 package should all work OK. If you run mgpr on command line with an older config, it should tell you why the configuration is incompatible (which configuration options it is missing), and then maye you can manually add those  an get it running.

Regarding the ice jerkyness, I'll look into into it. For the time being try increasing the ice_skid_time (I think that's what I called it...) to maximum.

Glad that the 64bit version ran OK 👍 🙂

That turned very nice for a "free" bartop, good work :)

Hi GEECAB!

I just tested the D3 version 32 Bits and 64 Bits for information as weird as it may seem impossible to launch the import instance for the 2 versions in fact it launches the game directly to me (playfield)

so I took my D2 import.cfg file and put it in the cfg D3 folder and the no window opens.

if I run the export.cfg instance, yes it works for the D3 32 Bits and D3 64Bits for speed, it's like 1.5.0 so impeccable but hard to tell because I only have a window and no score display on the second screen so no slowdown..

For the steering wheel, what an extraordinary job!! :applaud:

Yes you were right, the level of sensitivity is very high, I had to lower the values!!
 Here's my setup:
 Steering_sensivity: 100%
 Steering_Weight:     60%
 Steering_joy_Curve: Linear
 Steering_joy_Range: 60%

For me the car responds very well with the 270° steering wheel

For the car driving on ice, not a good visual sensation because the car jerks!

The effect in the D2 was much nicer apart from the fact that you swipe for too long, maybe add a swipe option for the car to make sure that the car stops not too sharp, which creates the jerky effect I think?

once again, what can I say other than BRAVO and THANK YOU for this remarkable work!!

 :)
