Title: Wrong resolution after upgrading to 0.261 (Mobility HD5650)
Post by: pakoman on December 24, 2023, 05:02:14 am
Hi,

I had an old laptop with a HD5650 working properly with an old version of GM under windows 10 (I don't remember exactly what version, but around 0.220).

However with GM 0.261 it always choses 2560x268@54hz resolution with scroll stuttering or wrong speed and smooth scroll.

It seems it doesn't generate the modelines on the fly and always uses the same. I've tried the same ini as the old version or messing with the relevant options without joy. So I'm wondering if newer switchres versions require newer CRT Emudrivers not compatible with this old HD5650 CRT driver I'm using or it should work the same as old versions?

Thnaks and merry Christmas

It seems it's running smoothly now but at slightly different speed (like 2-3% off).

I've attached some logs.

PS the old version is 0.218

It looks like you have modeline_generation disabled in mame.ini. Make sure to regenerate mame.ini from the binary after such a big version update.

PD: forget what I said, it's definitely enabled. I just don't get why all modes appear as read-only.

PD: OK I spotted the problem, the driver isn't recognized as patched, so you're either not using CRT Emudriver or you need to reinstall it.

The ini is fresh from 0.261, as it's installed in a separate folder.

Thanks, I'll reinstall the drivers then.
