Title: Radeon 4890 calamity driver
Post by: iori01 on September 15, 2011, 11:41:05 am
Hi gents,

thanks to the modification calamity performed, I'm now able to use my 4890 with calamity driver 9.3

I performed some quick test with calamity 9.3 and catalyst 11.x + soft15khz

Playing with SSVIAE 480i on my New astro city and the result is far better with Catalyst 11.x + soft15khz as I can use AA filter that no working with Calamity 9.3

But I would like also use groovymame so I have an issue.

Is it possible to tweak a newer catalyst with all those modelines ?
Or at least provide the full list of modelines used in calamity driver to inject with Soft 15 Khz on a catalyst 11.x ?

Many thanks in advance for your help.

If you run VMMaker with the right options, it will output a file named Modeline.txt, open that and copy those modelines into Soft15khz's custom list. However, you'll be limited to the maximum number of modes supported by non-hacked Catalyst drivers (60).

You can also use VMMaker to "inject" those modelines for you, just make sure to enable the option "AnyCatalyst" in vmmaker.ini.

If you're going to go through that please do a favour to me. Go to this post and grab the groovymame/vmmaker versions attached:

... I'm interested to see if the "magic" resolutions thing works for some other Catalyst version. It would be great as it would make the 60 modes limitation irrelevant. Make sure to run groovymame with -video d3d.

Calamity,

This would still only work in XP though, right? I think recall you saying something about Windows 7 having issues with refresh rates.

Yeah everyone intending to do some serious use of CRTs should stick with XP, until the Win7 thing is fully figured out (might not happen). On the other hand LCD support is already functional in Win7 via PowerStrip (if your LCD monitor can deal with variable refresh rates).
