Title: OZ stick bent my pins
Post by: tristancg1995 on May 19, 2015, 07:36:17 pm
i ordered a joystick and some buttons from http://www.ozstick.com.au/ (http://www.ozstick.com.au/) and a was ecstatic when they arrived (they arrived really fast) i opened the box the see that all of the buttons where shoved in the box with the stick and  the pins on the stick where bent :badmood:
i contacted them and they said that they meant to do that and to just bend it back
I HATE BENT PINS and bending them back weakens them
what should i do other than complaining online?

You paid with a Visa/Mastercard right?  File a complaint with your card provider.

unfortunately i paid by bank transfer

i just got a email from them saying
"As per my previous email, these "bent" terminals are not an issue and can be straightened when you need to without any ill effect."

Yeah, just bend them back. How often do you plan to bend them anyway so that they weaken?

Times like this I wish we could still give out rep.

tell them it broke when you tried to bend it back. then ask them to send a replacement with no bent pins.

And when those pins get bent in shipping, what then?

If you're that freaked out about, just buy new microswitches if one breaks - though I've never broken a tab off a joystick, and have, in fact, intentionally bent some to better fit in a location.   :dunno

Even dealing with people here isn't necessarily a guarantee.  Eliminating foreigners helps on that front considerably, though.

I used to dread South American orders. Something always went wrong. Like clockwork.

Not to mention, bent pins could very well have happened at the manufacturer, not the retailer.

Reminds me of one of my "favorite" retail stories.  When I worked at Staples, during back to school it was common practice to open the graphing calculators for customers so they could make sure it had the features they needed for their class.  This one lady, after sucking 20 minutes of my time looking at different calcs, having us open 5 different ones, finally says, "This is perfect!  Can I have one that's still sealed?"  Never mind the fact that she just watched us unseal the damn thing so she could examine it!  Stupid lady...
