Title: Trackball sensitivity adjustment on JAMMA board cabinet
Post by: atxcpa38 on February 06, 2019, 12:11:44 am
Hi there, I’m new to the forums and to custom/home arcades, so I hope someone can answer what is probably a pretty basic question, but one for which I can’t find an answer.

I recently bought a newly built tabletop cabinet with the iCade 60-in-1 jamma board, which included a Happ 2 1/4 trackball.  So, is there a way to adjust the trackball sensitivity on this, and if so is it done through the DIPSW 4 settings, or is it an adjustment to the trackball hardware?  The trackball works pretty well, but I prefer a bit more responsiveness than what it has now.  Thanks in advance.

Could some please answer another question I have about the trackball on my new machine?  I think part of the problem is that I definitely notice now that there are serious response issues when trying to move in the down direction on the trackball.  It just doesn’t always respond when I try to move the shooter down the screen when playing Centipede or Millipede.  Physically, the ball rolls fine, it’s just the response that is a problem in that one direction.

This is not an Arcade1up machine, but I’ve seen many people claim that lubricating the parts (not the ball itself, I guess it’s the rollers or bearings, I don’t remember) with a silicon grease fixes the issue.  However, I recently watched a video with a man explaining how to clean a trackball, and he specifically mentions not to oil any of the parts when cleaning it.

So, what is the proper way to possibly fix my trackball?  Should I just lubricate the correct parts as some suggest, or just clean it without any lube/oil?  This is a brand new machine, so I’m kind of suprised that I’m already having issues with the trackball.  But if it just needs a little cleaning, then that doesn’t sound too hard.  Thanks for any advice as I’m new to all of this!

60 in 1 is a ---smurfy--- board. If your trackball is a new Happ then it is probably not the problem. A guy I know might still have his 60 in 1. I will ask him if there are any trackball adjustments. I doubt it though.

I think I figured out what the problem is.  The control panel is tilted at a 17-degree angle.  I didn’t think about this until I took the trackball out and it worked just fine when level.  When I put it back it, it again has problems moving up and down.  Anyone else think this might be the issue?  If so, I will be returning it.  From what I’ve seen 17 degrees sounds a bit more angled than usual, but it wouldn’t have bugged me otherwise.  Curious what others think.

The problem is the 60 in 1. The trackball settings are off on the board and there is no way to change them. Buy bootleg chinese garbage and it performs like bootleg chinese garbage.
