When scanlines are active you will definitely be able to tell, the effect is fairly pronounced. Make sure that the output resolution from your PC video card is 640x480 @ 60hz (1024x768 will also work, but best results are obtained @ 640x480). Higher resolutions like 1280x1024 will result in a normal display.
