I have a version 1.0 and it was pretty good, this is version 2.0 and seems a ton better. I have done a lot of business with Haruman and I have never had a bad transaction yet.
Seems like a real good price.
So if you put all of the profits into building your own CNC, you could really be on to something....
Pics coming soon.
very interested. have so many questions
are custom sizes available or would they be just one size?
how wide, high, deep are they?
what kind of screen range would you have with this kit?
what kind of board options would it support? itx, matx, atx etc
what kind of buttons would it support
single player or two player?
So if you put all of the profits into building your own CNC, you could really be on to something....
The thought HAS crossed my mind, to be sure.

At the very least it's a way to get yourself a free CNC machine....
...if you could just manufacture the free time to build one.
Could always get my CNC guy to cut the CNC parts for me...
Wow! These look great. Can't wait to see one put together.
I've bought several arcade related parts from HaRuMaN in the past, he's very reliable and highly recommended.
I like what I see. Any chance of a picture showing it assembled?
Dance, monkey, dance! Do our bidding!

Imagine it in sexy black melamine, and without the batons.
You planning on doing this for a while? I may not be able to place an order until August or September.
These look sweet. So . . . batons on the CP, and have you done the VESA mount yet? I'm assuming you would screw in batons and then glue to that?
I can't wait to see people start making these. I might have to order one or two when I sell something to generate some cash. Love the finish.
Hi do you have pemission from the designer of these
kits ive seen these before on another site.
Im pretty sure he would be pissed off if he hasent given you resell rights !!
BOOM!
You mean like this:

How is that any different?
If you can get me some width, height, and depth dimensions, I can check.

Sure. The dimensions are 17 5/8" x 13 7/8" x 3" (WxHxD).
Thanks!
hello - i m interested but I am not able to PM you?
Maybe I havent posted enough on the forum yet? not sure. Can you send me a PM so I can order one of the kits?
Thank you
If you're on the fence, guys, these are great quality. I'm using one to build a machine for my god-daughters' birthday in June.

In cowboy blue no doubt >:D
whatever happened my idea for using the asus 23" evo monitor? can you make one to fit that monitor? you'd get lot more sales from srk too(can only guess). I am buying one if you can.
Haruman,
Question on your melamine, is there any reason you went with the particle board?
I've sourced some 3/4 melamine with the MDF core. It's not available in 5/8 though...
Was it weight?
I've got enough parts sitting around to throw a little something together and these look pretty nice. I'll give one a shot :)

its 22"x14"x2.5"
21.7 if you wanna get real picky. but Id go with 22"x14". this is the least laggy lcd and available.
Cool, thttp://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?action=post;quote=1342289;topic=130522.80;last_msg=1342289#hanks. What kind of layout for the buttons / joysticks would you want?
congrats on your sell out!!!!! :applaud: :applaud: :applaud:
yes I may be in the market for a kit. you can customize the controls tho? not a fan of 8 buttons setup. its too cluttered and generally is useless. 6 button is good enough. I will send you a note if/when I am ready to place an order and discuss further business :burgerking:

Sure can.
Pretty tight on those plans, not so bad if he is laser cutting, but routing even with a 1/8" bit is going to be tough without a vacuum bed. There is little to no room for tabs to hold parts in place. That said if he's got a vac bed no problem ;)

Any estimate one when you're taking orders again? :)
PM Sent :)Any estimate one when you're taking orders again? :)
Now. :)
I cant wait to get mine., Ive wanted to build a weecade type bar top for awhile but I'm terrible with wood working. I have a quick question about the CP. Will the ServoStick (http://www.ultimarc.com/servostik.html) Joy stick fit okay in this? Thanks for any information.
Where you guys getting your 1/2" t-molding from? T-molding.com has two colors available ...white and black. Are there are other sources available for different colors??
Also...is the cost of the 2 player the same as the one player?? $140
Just dropped off the first batch for pickup by FedEx. Will be sending tracking numbers out via PM. :cheers:Sweet! I just ordered a Vision Pro CGA LCD for it. I plan on using it mostly as a test rig but also when I feel like playing games in the house when the garage is too cold ;). Granted, once my kids see it I'll probably have to order another at some point...
05SRT4, and EvilEmuOfDoom, I have your kits in hand, will be do the slot cutting and packing this weekend. :applaud:
How weird, I've been monitoring this thread and thought it said it was open again. Must be wishful thinking. Sorry for the post.
hi,
What's the widest that you can make it? I was reviewing the dimensions and did it change much when it was changed to accommodate the asus monitor. The layout seems like it should have enough room to give one or two more inches. Just thinking of more shoulder room for two player games.
thanks
Is that 22" edge to edge or 22" just on the control panel. Thanks!
Just got my kit!
Packaging was nice and tight, no shipping damage on any corners.
Kit contained all the correct pieces showed in the preview.
I'm really looking forward to start building!!
Thanks HaRuMaN
got mine too, perfect condition, excellent packing!
Got mine today! Packed VERY well too, seriously impressed :). I started putting it together and can't wait to play around with it! Sadly, my CGA monitor that came in last week or the week before was DOA and had to be sent in for warranty replacement and I don't know when I'm getting it :(. I plan on using mine as a jamma test bench as well as playing games on it.
Thanks again HaRuMan! My friend Josh came over while I was starting assembly and really wants one now too ;)
I'd love to see some unboxing pics.
am i getting this right you are just selling the wood cut-outs? if so you are smart. people can save a lot of time by using your kit. :applaud:
I would like to place an order but I'm too new a member to send PMs. EDIT:- Looks like all I needed was 2 posts! PM coming!
call the 2 player version WeeWeeCade :lol

And any ETA?

it is actually 22-1/4" if the screen overlay is all one peice it could probaby be decased and clear the 1/8" on each side as the plastic itself is probably close to that alone.
now sure how it would look in there with no screen bezel and the display butted right up on the sides of the cab though.
and malenko your setup must be lagging like kray! :dizzy: I know that monitor isn't native VGA.
It's not if you don't have the time, tools, or technical know-how. And shipped? No one who's bought one is complaining.
isn't $140 a bit much just for wood?

isn't $140 a bit much just for wood?
You're not just paying for wood, you're paying for pre-cut, pre-laminated wood. If you don't already have woodworking equipment or space to do the cutting, this is a fantastic value. This is half the price of mameroom's flat-pack bartop kit.
OP: I want to order one but I cannot send PMs (probably because I just registered). Your flair says you're a mod, can you fix this?
I think you just need one more post to PM.

Then this can be my 2nd post :)
I sent you an email with my order request. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.
Have you considered a pedestal kit to turn this into a full-size cab? Four holes in the bottom of the bartop and top of the pedestal plus four sets of bolts/washers/wingnuts would tie everything together nicely, and it would still be easy to break down for transportation.
Payment sent. Couple questions:
Do you (or anybody else) have any pics of the 2-player version assembled? What kind of room do we have to work with for the PC? Will a microATX board and standard PSU fit, or do we have to get a nanoITX board and external PSU? Is there enough room vertically for a full-height video card? Is there room to drill in another pair of button holes (2 rows of 4 total) for both players? Do you happen to know where I stuck the box of arcade controls I bought 12 years ago?
Do you (or anybody else) have any pics of the 2-player version assembled?
.
I am good with woodworking too but this is just easier/quicker
and malenko what exactly is that scanline thing? which model? I may need one.
Can anyone offer any tips for getting the monitor mounted and angled correctly? So far my only plan is to hold the monitor in the opening and eyeball the angle to mark the mount position the best I can. I've been holding off mounting the monitor because I know I'll end up with half a dozen unused holes before I get it right.
Mount the monitor to the VESA mount board, place cabinet on side, put monitor + mount inside.
I used blue painters tape to mark where the mount should go. Took the monitor off the mount, placed the mount back inside (no monitor), drilled and installed screws.
Any recommendations on decent speakers?
Yeah, here is a 17" 4:3 in my MDF prototype (running a DC with VGA cable):

did you get that cable from that link I posted?
Howdy! First time poster here. I ran into this forum by following a link in the KADE forum. And I got to say, thank you for making this kit available to us. It looks great! Im wondering if you could make a kit of this stand alone bar-stick:
http://kadevice.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=325 (http://kadevice.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=325)
I think it would be a great idea for those that have very limited space but still want the arcade experience.
I for one would buy this!! Its an excellent design by Degenatrons of the KADE Team, and I think he would be open to others using it, but I want to ask for his consent first. If he allows this to be used, would you do it? Any one else interested?
Once again, thank you
Can't find my box of old controls, so it looks like I'll be ordering new ones. Does anybody know if there is enough room between the joystick hole and the button holes on the 2P cab to fit an ultimarc E-stick?

AWESOME!! :D :D :D Thank you both!!
HaRuMaN, please PM me after you get an estimate from your CNC guy so we can work out the details.
so any ETA on my weeweecade :bat
Any chance of a Verticade kit?
I've been looking at options to play with vertical games. I already have a full-size Blast City cabinet for horizontal games, but I'd like to have a true four-way joystick with a vertical monitor for games like Donkey Kong and Pac Man. I have a Dell 1905 FP that I'd like to put in vertically with a scanline generator. :)
So a vertical cabinet, a control-panel-only cabinet, and a full-height pedestal are all in the works. You're a busy beaver!
^That is hideous.

+1. Ugh.
Wow, awesome project. But is this available only in the US?
Can't send you a PM as I just joined the forum- how can I get in touch with you? interested in a widescreen kit...

1/2" T-molding, 20 ft.
Unfortunately only comes in black or white at that size, but I've been thinking about picking up some white and attempting to dye it using RIT dye.

Is that 20ft enough for the widescreen version too?
I do think it could look better and control panel seems too close to the monitor, but I like the idea!
I know it was mention prior and I wanted to see what these would kinda look like on a stand and checked ebay and they had some stands that made them look more like a full size.
if you were considering them and if it were me I would rather have a stand where the stand is larger at the base where the bartop itself would fit into the stand.
that way the whole thing just looks like a desk when not in use, maybe throw granny's fancy doyley over it etc. :laugh2:
it would keep it put away looks clean dust free and could be locked with a tumbler lock and key perhaps too.
I :dunno, if you're going to do all that, why not just build a full-size game???
Why stifle creativity?
More sawhorses? :laugh2:
dont forget to ask me for address. still not decided where this is going. I am not home during the days on weekdays. :banghead:

By the looks of the insides, a person *could* put a dedicated board in there, w/ scaler.
Now, to only get my hands on one... ;)
What's your status of the vertical version?
Vertical will probably be designed and prototyped early June.
oh yeah I am trying to touch my weeweecade too :hissy:
Hopefully this batch ships soon... I have all these pushbuttons and computer parts laying around waiting for a home...
You got a photo of it in action?

No, but Malenko should. It was his idea.
nice.
guessing mine comes with this thing? thx!! :applaud:
I forget, how much t-molding is needed? Thanks.
Are pedestals still in your master scheme? Think you said maybe after the vertical bartop.
I'm flip flopping between that and a bartop or a full slim. I'd build but I'm in NYC, so can't really be routing outside.
I forget, how much t-molding is needed? Thanks.
20 feet, you'll end up with a little extra.
Just out of curiosity, any features you'd like to see in a pedestal?Stability would be high up...hyper kids. Other than that not too picky. Two player/6 buttons each/trackball. Coin door slot would be very nice. Maybe an area for hidden admin buttons.

You might want to consider a projector shelf, as well.
Hey, everything's going together nicely on mine. Just waiting for the CPU to come in.
Where did you get the channel for the plexi?
Are the 2player models shipping yet , or have just the single player been going out so far?
Here's how I lit the buttons:
I can't see ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---.2 3" (I'm guessing 3 inch) cold cathodes vertically mounted between the 3 vertical rows of buttons, clear buttons, black plungers.

I can't figure out how the control panel top will be secured.
I use industrial Velcro to attach my control panel top to the batons. You could drill 2 holes on each side and use a joystick nut and bolt as well.
I can try to take pictures tonight.
A simple way to make the control panel removable is to make access holes in the bottom panel and secure control panel from the underside.
A quick sketch to help explain what I'm talking about:
This makes for a sturdy fix with no visible screws.
The small semicircular cutouts can then be used to plug the holes on the underside if required.
Consider updating the CNC plans to include the access holes in the bottom panel.
My cat has claimed the first game on the new cabinet, she even brought a milk ring as a "quarter" to save her spot.

Does anyone have a link to the build diagrams for this bartop?
Thanks.
These are some great looking kits HaRuMaN! Would you mind sharing the dwg file for the 2 person cab? I only see the 1 person up above.
I would like to modify them a bit (if you don't mind) to fit a 20.1" 4:3 Dell 2001FP while retaining the 2 person control layout, and I'm afraid the 1 person design is just a bit too small for that sort of application.
What kind of solutions is everyone coming up with to secure the plexiglass and the marquee?

@Danky21 :- I'm curious what dimensions you'll need to modify to fit the 2001fp. Please LMK, thanks!
This would also allow for a bezel rather than running right up to the edge, no offense Malenko.
How do you guys smooth out the edges? From the default cabinet, it looks like the edges are not smooth and looked exposed. I saw the above picture from Malenko's cabinet that it has nice black smooth edges.
So its a modified 2 player weedcade that fits a 20.1" 4:3 Dell 2001FP screen? I might be interested :)

2 screws into the vesa board, 2 into the weecade's side. Pardon the dirt, I dont really care enough to wipe down the cade prior to the photoshoot ;)
Do you have a picture of this zoomed out a bit?
HaRuMaN,
I am new at this arcade building thing and I have been reading up (and watching youtube videos) on how to build an arcade machine. The hardest part for me is the wiring the buttons. Is there anyway that you can sell the cabinet with preinstalled buttons on the panel which is hooked up with an ipac (etc...) so that all I have to do is build a computer with working hyperspin/games and all I have to do is just plug in and play?
If you can do the Computer setup you'lll have No Problem wiring the CP !
I like using something like these male power socket connectors that feed into a smart strip.

Did you not use the two other pieces of wood that was included for the vesa mount board?
In the original instructions there are two pieces of wood to glue to the vesa panel then mount, I can't tell if you still used these and they're on the other side of yours or not.
Just ordered two! :D
Back from vacation! Got a couple of new prototypes coming in later this week from the CNC, one's that barstick, and the other is a surprise... ;) :applaud:
Is there a template I can use to set up my artwork? I got the two player version.

Thanks again for the photos. Just a warning for anyone else using these brackets: the screws included are too long and when I mounted my monitor the screw tip came through the wall of the cabinet. So I recommend finding slightly shorter screws on your own and not using the ones included.
Alternately you could use a couple of washers to space the screws back a bit

I like the look of this one. :)
Thank you! I've got another 'original' coming in a few days, as well.
Barstick looks great!! Well done! I cant wait to see it built. how much for this kit? also, is there any way to add pinball flippers (one on each side)? And is it possible to have an option to switch from 2player to 1player+trackball control panels?
Thank you for the awesomeness!
The MVS should hold the same screen as the standard, so 17" or 19". A 20.1" should just make it, but it would be tight. Those are all 4:3's, btw.
The bar stick is just a standalone, so no monitor.
Ok thanks man...
Have not seen the bar stick before, I like that idea that you can use any size monitor. ;D
They look great, cant wait to see a pic of an assembled one of both and the price of them.
Thanks for preview,Ok thanks man...

Here are some pics of the prototype to give you an idea of what it looks like assembled. I've since added a lip to the bottom of the marquee in the original plans - to separate CP from marquee. It needs to be painted.
Can I have an ETA on the 2 player kit please? Thanks!

Still on for friday delivery? :)

I have seen a lot of people as for this but so far we don't have the template/exact size, dimension for the 2-player version.Im sure he'll post them, don't you have the physical panel and a tape measure?

These are taken from his plan pictures he posted, inverted so its black lines on white, and scaled up. The lines are a little yucky, but that why you cover them with art.
Just a suggestion but you might want to change them to 300PPI instead of 72 --- figure if they are being used for artwork you'll want at least a 300PPI final image and some users may not realize they need to adjust it before drawing up the art for printing. Also if you want to clean up the holes if using a 300PPI image using a brush size of 338 pixels will place a 1-1\8" Diameter circle with a single mouse click where desired.

Just a suggestion but you might want to change them to 300PPI instead of 72 --- figure if they are being used for artwork you'll want at least a 300PPI final image and some users may not realize they need to adjust it before drawing up the art for printing. Hey thanks for that! My photoshop skills are severely lacking... lol
What are the dimensions on the verty?
I'm having a fit issue with a mag stik plus on the 2 player-
With the stik "installed" it will hit the 2 buttons on the admin panel, not letting the control panel sit forward enough.

I would recommend flipping the admin panel on the 2 players so the button slots are not in front of the joysticks.
Oh yeah, gonna get me that nintendo looking genius contraption you done went off and designed :)

Had a bit of time so went ahead and did the sides also in case others needed them -- Just need someone to print a test copy and verify the dimensions are correct (went by the 21.43 inchx18.6 measurements in the posted files and added a 1\2 inch border around the oputside - so they should be correct but would be best to get confirmation before using for sending out for final printing !! (IE> Use at your own risk as I do not have a panel to test the dimensions are correct so PLEASE print a test print to verify before investing $$ for printing art using them !!)

This directed at me? Whatchoo talkin' 'bout?
As for the admin buttons, I used short barrels on mine, not sure where I got them from, they were in my parts bucket.
Ultimarc gold leaf buttons look short, but I don't have a measurement for those. Naturally, I can adjust plans a bit so this is less of a headache for future buyers.
Fix that depth though man, i refuse to go short barrel and use spacers, you fix that you can put me down for one of those....

is that a viewlix?

That may be. I could always include the normal control panel, and then a blank one for you to play with.

Cathode vs Multi Colored Led strips (~$30) on amazon? what do you guys think? I'm debating about white or red cathodes then my coworker brought this into the equation. Will led strips give the same glow effects? thanks in advance.

Is this still the 19" LCD?
Cool deal...
As far as other projects go, next is that Vewlix (full size) and then a mini-virtual pin. After that, I can look at other designs.
The acrylic one is pretty cool, but I currently have no way of bending that stuff.
How do you guys secure the power supply? Securing the power supply in the computer case is easy because of the screw holes of the computer case but I don't know a good way to secure the power supply.
L-brackets work well but I've also used Velcro strips.

Well I got my barstick in yesterday. I got it put together last night. Now I need to get the parts for it & the marquee. Then figure out something for a colored 1/2" t-mold. Might try to see if the dye takes to it or not. ;D I am kicking around of doing Kung Fu Master for this, one I love that old school game. I grew up playing it in the day. Plus the marquee is pretty cool. ;D My other thoughts are Rampage or Raiden, well see.
But here she is, its pretty.... Thanks Huraman looks great!!!

You can try automotive vinyl dyes on a white piece of t-molding. it's 1000x better than most of these paint cans that are supposedly made for plastic.
Popular brands are SEM, VHT, Plasticote, Color Bond and dupli-color.

Ok, thank you for the info. That is good to know, will give it a try.
How do you place and secure the motherboard to the bartop cabinet ?
It is worth giving it a try. Something out there has to dye the T-mold. ;D I just cant believe that there are only black & white for 1/2" T-mold. Found red, grey & charcoal but have to get 500'. No thank you, dont need that much 1/2". ;D

It is great to see Degenatrons' barstick design in other folks hands. I'm curious what y'all think of the form factor of a screen less bartop with arcade elements like marquee and t-moulding.
galaxy SIII-cyanogen-tapatalk 4 beta
More MVS goodness:Oh snap, that looks pretty rad.
Has anyone tried to use Raspberry Pi with ipac2 for your bartop arcade?
i have a question, why didn't you just go with 5/8 on the bartsick, so it doesnt limit folks to just 2 colors on t-molding...
That sure is purdy! :applaud:

Question:
How do you hook it up so that you only use one cord to plug into the electrical outlet to power up the monitor and the computer?
The monitor has one electrical cord and the power supply has another power cord. I don't want to have 2 power cord coming out of the arcade bartop and have to plug in two cords.
How do you guys do the wiring?
I am new at building these things so please bare with me :-)

Harulix? :notworthy:
Wow! What's the screen size for that beauty?
I'm going to want one of those Harulix kits. I better put money aside now.
The Harulix does look damn good. Why no melamine for it?
Do you that one for both monitor and power supply since it has a total of 6 prongs ? (3 prongs for the monitor and 3 prongs for the power supply)
Also, how do you guys make the monitor and the power supply turn on at the same time? My monitor has a button for on/off so when I mount the monitor inside the bartop cabinet, how can it be turned on without pushing the on/off button of the monitor. The same goes for the power supply. I just want to push the power button outside the cabinet and both the monitor and the computer will turn on automatically at the same time.
Oh yeah...
Is there anyway to miniaturize the Harulix to make it a bartop?
The full size one looks so big.
I wonder why no company make arcade bartop cabinet out of aluminum like we see with computer cases? Those computer cases are light and tough.Sounds too noisy. Wood is easiest for everyone to modify themselves once they get a kit.
White t-molding installed:Wow!

I'm looking for a cabinet that can hold a monitor 22 inches wide.
The vertical is a bartop that can hold a 17" 4:3 vertically.
I do have a widescreen bartop that can house up to a 23" widescreen LCD (it's also 2 players).

how much for the wide one? Also, how hard would it be to build a stand for it to make it like a full upright?
How soon? I'm in no hurry at this point.
Can you also appox the cost of the base?
Also, for the wide, what are the dimensions for the control panel?

Couple of weeks? Cost will depend on the cnc shop and shooting costs, so I'll let you know.
The wide control panel is 22" wide, I will check the depth
Sneak peek of what's coming up...I'd rotate that control panel side vertical like the other 3 just incase you ever plan on cutting this thing out with a woodgrain finish like prefinished plywood.

Even below the corner of the CP?
First of all Thx Degenatrons and HaRuMan for keeping these plans "open source" :notworthy:
Since I have my own CNC router I'm planning on converting the plans to 12mm panels instead of 1/2" (12.7mm) so I can route them myself.
(edit: cut away the blablabla)
Ok, clear. Thanks!Even below the corner of the CP?
Yes.
And yeah, post when you're done, I'd like to see it. :applaud:
So we've gone from bartops to vewlix to cocktails...what are the chances of a cabaret or full-size upright kit being done? :) An Atari style cabaret in woodgrain melamine would be sweet.
A -PROPER- Atari cabaret kit would be incredible! I have one that's getting dismantled anyway (centipede, water damage), so I can provide any measurements if needed. Was just going to re-cut the sides, but I'd pay to be a guinea pig for this. I eventually wanted to make a Major Havok cabaret ("eventually" meaning maybe by 2015, ha!), which would require some tweaking to make it a horizontal Atari cabaret. Oh the possibilities, make this happen HaRuMaN!
Sweeeeet!! I'm excited too. I checked out your website and didn't see anything about this so I should probably ask...please tell me you ship to Canada. If not, I've got relatives stateside who could probably act as middleman, but I'm thinking it's gotta be cheaper to just go direct.
I /could/ ship to Canada, but it gets pretty pricey. I shipped just a regular bartop to Canada, and it cost $80. :o
Wow man, that is really slick! Can I steal those pictures as examples for my website?
Hey Nitz, I approached Haruman directly and asked him if he would mind if I could jump in to assist. He said it was ok, so I'll be direct and brief. I will be throwing my hat in the ring to produce bartop and full-size cabinets for the Canadian market shortly, and would be interested in producing the cabinet shell you're looking for, if you are interested.
I do continue to support Haruman's great work, and want to let everybody know that I am not attempting to steal away any of his customers. Everyone who has purchased from Haruman in the past knows that his products, pricing and service are top-notch, and without equal. My only aim is to help open the arcade gaming hardware market a bit more in Canada.
Now that I've sidetracked the thread significantly, and definitely more than I originally intended, I'll go open my own thread and stop hijacking Haruman's. (A big, BIG thank you to Haruman for understanding, and giving me the opportunity to post this message.)
SMOKE BOMB!!! /me exits

In working with Nitz, I've come across this Sketchup, which seems close to the original specs (http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=d63d68d9310a036b10145cc1b33dac39 (http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=d63d68d9310a036b10145cc1b33dac39)) and this page (http://ggdb.com/GameByName.aspx?c=Coin-Op&s=Arcade&vid=503 (http://ggdb.com/GameByName.aspx?c=Coin-Op&s=Arcade&vid=503)) which details the height, width and depth requirements. I've opened the Sketchup, and it seems to match, but the actual measurements would be very helpful to me as well!
My machine theoretically has a 0.003125mm accuracy, even if the deviation would be x10 (which I find hard to believe) it still should be enough as well. What kind of machine are you using that has tolerances down to a 1/10000"? just curious ???
Thanks for those. Good starting numbers....
Now, do you care if this is 1/2" or 3/4"? I can do either... but 1/2" would be lighter & cheaper to ship.
I can do white / black / grey / and like 10 different woodgrain finishes.
I can do white / black / grey / and like 10 different woodgrain finishes.
Awesomeness.
Would making just the the sides in 3/4", and everything else in 1/2" make an impact in your shipping? Thought that could be a good compromise - The cabinet still looks the same, and is lighter to ship and move once assembled.
I assume it all depends on how you can lay the parts on 4'x8' sheets, but something to consider.
Once I get drawing I can better answer that... Most likely this will take a couple of sheets anyway, and in your case, sides in white make sense, and maybe everything else in 1/2" black?
My machine ballscrews have a 5mm pitch and is set to use 1600 microsteps/rev which results in 320 microsteps/mm which results in 1:320 = 0.003125mmMy machine theoretically has a 0.003125mm accuracy, even if the deviation would be x10 (which I find hard to believe) it still should be enough as well. What kind of machine are you using that has tolerances down to a 1/10000"? just curious ???
After making some minor tweaks to the design I routed a first "test" version yesterday and it turned out 100%. Everything fits like a glove ;D

I received these images from a guy on Reddit, after I asked for some input.
Hoping this may help in some way!

For the side panels, the original sketch model had those spot on, you have to get all the arcs and curves right. Not knocking his measurements, but they can be off depending on where you measure in the arcs.
As far as the front is concerned, I explained the measurements in a previous post. The actual panel extends into the CP area and the holes for the speaker grill and marquee are a little more complex. I'll add some notes to add to the previous measurements and post some related photos in the AM. Did he mention which cab these came from?
Uh-oh.. What do I have here?

It's too bad PBJ didn't live to see this day.
Whatever did happen with Pinball Jim, anyway? I've seen the references to him leaving everywhere, but never did find post outlining the root cause. He was still here when I went on hiatus, myself.
You know, if MY CNC GUY would get back to me with better pricing...

So, New kit designs in progress:
1) Atari cabaret - 80% done
2) mini virtual pin cabinet - 30% done
Other ones in consideration:
Mini-vewlix
Mini-Nintendo
Pedestal
Haven't thought about a racing cab yet... Or a red tent. Let me think about those
I think I have all I need. About 90% done. What kind of material are you wanting to make this from?
That other cabaret is pretty sweet, too.
Cool. I did miss the control panel area. I'll add that stuff in...
The marquee area and speaker area are drawn to those inside dimensions you gave me.
Is this considered a customer commission? I'm wondering if you'd consider a partnership for Nitz' request? Maybe we figure what the design is worth to you, sell it to Nitz (or me) and have me carve it for Nitz, for Canadian distribution?
Maybe this belonged in a PM? Maybe I'm just being transparent. :D

OK, the original has the straight through hole in the smaller dimensions, but require a recess of the larger dimension on the outside face to accommodate the glass and metal grill, I'd say 1/4 deep. Sorry for not making that clear before. I think I got both the inner and outer dimensions in the previous posts :

I sure hope this isn't a one-off! I'd hate to see so much work going into something just for me. There should be other people in these forums looking for an Atari cabaret. At the very least I'll order another when I start my Major Havoc build. He's got a dedicated customer in me, until I -eventually- get my own workshop that is ;)

Ok, so I think I got everything, now... Recessed cuts for speaker / marquee, control panel parts, monitor support pieces, and a shelve type thing the cp and monitor assembly rest on...

Of course! Where else would we put Haruman?

Did you recess the sticks a bit? Cause they look mights short.
I sometimes have to route a recess under the CP so the sticks sit up higher.
Regardless the assembly and completion was well done. :applaud: :applaud: :applaud: :applaud:
No, I did not recess the sticks. They are just shorties :D normally I just say that after getting out of a cold pool ;D ::) :lol I like the quick throws of them. To the top of the ball is 2" from panel.

So, these are mounted from underneath then?
So, until I find a good (read cheap) freight option, the Atari Cabaret will be local pickup only...They must have some serious weight to them. How much was the quote that you said, "umm I dont think so"?

I am sure somebody here knows a good freight option.
Well the issue is that anything over 150 pounds gets pushed into freight category (with FedEx) and that basically quadruples the price.3/4" Black Melamine is pretty heavy, even heavier than 3/4 plywood. With 2 sheets of melamine, it'd be pretty close to the limit... plywood should be able to keep under the limit maybe.

I was thinking about this myself, for my pinball cabinets. If the price is prohibitive, try packaging the larger items separately, to bring the price down. Sure, you'll be almost doubling your regular shipping costs, and increasing the risk of lost/short shipments, but you should be able to get your packages in under the weight limit.
Source: I worked for Canada's largest courier company for over 13 years.
:D
Hmm... that's a thought. Put the 2 sides together in a largish box, then the rest of the parts in smaller box #2. Each one would be well under 150 pounds.

With all the money you make from these kits, please consider investing in a better camera.

Awesome work, man!
I'm curious how a 16:10 22" LCD would work in one of those, or is the width too much for the cabinet? It would be 22 1/8" width.
Any news on the pedestal design?

Interesting vinyl site, grammar on the pages is however atrocious !! LolMy guess was not a native English speaker. Still, its better than my Chinese.
Any chance mine will be shipping soon? Need to request a few days off work so I can build it :)
For side art, I get the black adhesive vinyl sticker. For marquees, I get the backlit pvc film.

Uh oh Rick, I may have to go local for my Nintendo Bar-top. We'll see how the two compare.
I'll add a 2nd LCD to that request of yours (17" + 19") as compensation when I start shipping parts again, if it's any consolation.
Not like anyone will have a hard time selling them.

I'm mostly just jibin' ya, man. BUT, when I looked to the Popeye bartop as well as the actual Nintendo cabs, I noticed there's an unused panel above the control panel... On my design, I made it like an inch and a half. It's purely cosmetic, so really, it's a "to each his own" kinda thing.
Your design looks GREAT. I wouldn't change a thing. (Personally, I like the way yours will support the monitor more vertically. I've noticed most of the true cabs - if not all of them - have a HUGE angle on the monitors.)
@TKW4rr10r, I finally figured out how to move my parts around in Sketchup, so here are a couple of 3D renders to help you visualize:

 :timebomb: :censored: ;)Say what now?
I've read a lot of posts on the virtual pinball sites regarding the holes for the legs, saying it's much to difficult to drill after the cab is built. Beyond that, are you planning on having a hole for any DMD? (Yes, I realize it's just a preliminary sketch. I'm just spitballing.)
:D
And as far as the holes for the legs go, how are you planning on having them CNC'ed at a 45 degree angle, unless your CNC shop has a 4-axis setup?
Also what size monitors are you shooting for? I have a 24" playfield 19" 4/3 backglass system just waiting for a cabinet
What's the vertical spacing on those holes, center to center? And the radius on the holes?

And how you limit the cut depth of your slot cutter?
I do, but that is inadequate for limiting depth of cut, especially on curved / angled pieces.
The standard 1/16" slot cutter, out of the box, cuts the slots WAY too deep, like twice as deep as they need to be.
What I ended up doing was purchasing a larger bearing separately, and replacing the stock (smaller) bearing on the cutter. That way the depth of cut is always mechanically limited by the slot cutter itself.

Good tip.

Or, you could just exercise more control over the piece you're routing. There's no reason you can't use the table if you're cautious.
issue is you need to get pretty hands on if you are trying to gauge it, bearing is the way to go.

That's great in theory, not so much in practice. With the bearing swap, I can slot cut a whole bartop kit in about 5 minutes. When I've got 8 bartop kits to slot, pack, and ship, reducing the slot cutting time is huge.

Also been looking into 12mm laminated particle board instead of blank MDF, but that's pretty expensive over here because it's not commonly used.
Lol :laugh2: no no no no no ....... that's in Sweden :hissy:Also been looking into 12mm laminated particle board instead of blank MDF, but that's pretty expensive over here because it's not commonly used.
But, but, but... I thought you guys invented IKEA?
Because I don't like marquees mounted with angled profiles (looks too plump) I came up with the following mounting method for the marquee on kits with T-Molding. This method can't be used with T-molding because the t-molding slot would run into the top slot for the marquee, cutting of the edge. This could be prevented by mounting the marquee deeper into the cabinet, but think that would look awkward.
Each of my bartop designs have integrated 1/4" slots carved into them to support easy installation of plexi for playfield glass and marquees.
No harm, no foul here though. Even macattack heisted my idea.
;)
You missed the monitor bracket shape also ;)
Am i missing something but dont you need 2 pieces of plexi for a marque, you have to sandwich the graphic, right.Exactly why Rick's Plexi Slots (TM) are 1/4".
Think it depends on how far you spanning and the material thickness that was used, if you only spanning a couple of inches and the material is 1/2" or 3/4" then it usually offers enough support to hold it in place. That said sandwiches are nice ;)Am i missing something but dont you need 2 pieces of plexi for a marque, you have to sandwich the graphic, right.Exactly why Rick's Plexi Slots (TM) are 1/4".

I'm talking about the monitor mount, not the cabinet. And you'll be hanging a fairly substantial weight on it. At an angle.

Now, hold on just a second. I may not have a lot of 'original' ideas, but I'd like to claim at least this one for my own.

Am i missing something but dont you need 2 pieces of plexi for a marque, you have to sandwich the graphic, right. Why would you need 2 panels? This is only needed if you use a print on normal paper for the marquee, but since there are a lot of signing companies out there which can simply print the artwork mirrored on clearview vinyl and laminate it with white after that so you get a "sticker" that you can adhese on the back of the plexi I see no need for that.
The t-molding method sounds promising, the only issue i forsee, is t-molding does not like to pulled in and out of its slot. Eventually with maintenance over time if you have to remove your marquee, that slot won't be as tight.
Does noöne have an answer to my question about what the pre-ground coated MDF is called in English.
Also I'm curious what a standard 1/2" plain black laminated particle board panel costs in the US? (e.g. 8x4 or 10x5 ft). Just to compare against the local prices
$ 35,- for a 4x8 sheet of 1/2" laminated particle board? Whish we had it at that price would be a lot better than pre primed MDF (Thanks! :notworthy:) at $ 40 for s 8x4 sheet
Well, since Haruman isn't here to blow his own horn, here's a link (http://www.reddit.com/r/cade/comments/1o8gr8/my_first_home_made_arcade_machine/) to some "positive press" he's received on Reddit. Well done, my friend.

I honestly have no idea what hes even talking about. I came up with the pockets instead of tabs idea (and Haruman found a way to make it work), and the idea to ship the kits with pool noodles (which he upgraded my idea to pipe insulators) . I suggested the Galaga style vert kit, and some other things. I cant keep up with everyone who hates me anymore, its easier to keep track of the few who do like me =)

Hey Lee - Not to interupt the designers love fest here...but I'd like to throw this out there as a possible future design offering.
Not that your cabinets kits aren't incredibly affordable as it is. But maybe an even more stripped down simple marquee-less cabinet along the lines of these as inspiration?

I'm up in Ajax, Ontario myself. There's only one place locally that I know about, and that's The Playdium Store (https://www.theplaydiumstore.com/). It's pretty good - they've got about 20 pins and 10 multi-arcade machines... ...all on free play. (It's getting to the point that I'm thinking the U.S./Canada border is the official "arcade dead zone". I'm hoping to fix that.)

As a matter of fact, two Nintendo cabs (one baltic birch, the other white melamine) and the wall hanger were cut today, I'll be picking them up tomorrow. This is one of my Midway verticals, this one will be going off to Malenko soon (after I get the art on it's Galaga twin and take pics of both together). Thanks to Malenko for the art files, and SoulDraw for the printing!
Lol, I wish.
I have space for one, but after getting used to the precision of my cnc guy, I think I would be disappointed by a home build...
One of the coolest things about my CNC guy's setup is the hold down vacuum. No clamps for material, just a 20HP vacuum pump that pulls air THROUGH a sacrificial piece of MDF to hold down the material above it. :o
Vac bed is on my too do list, really good for cutting stuff like acrylic. Also you can then make 100% use of the material.

What's that, an hour of your time to cut a 4x8 piece of MDF with 4" square x 1/4" deep grooves and some holes for PVC piping? Get at 'er, man!
Not given it much thought, draw it up then and I'll poc it for you ;)

I didn't. I trimmed 3/4" by hand.

I was going to say that it looks like you could squeeze it down to at most 2 1/2 sheets, if you oriented the rear pieces sideways, or modified their dimensions to fit... Just my two cents.

Yeah, what sold me on this kit is the woodgrain. The melamine HaRuMaN used is a beautiful cherry color. I did use a black top on this one, so that's why the glass looks smoked. I did put a smoked piece of plexi between the screen and glass, though. Looks better.
My daughter gave it a name, and I had a buddy print the vinyl stickers used for the graphics. It really adds a pop to the table.
@snaaaake, the control panel rests on the batons that are glued in. How you attach the cp is up to you. Some people screw it down, some use Velcro, I'm gonna try magnets soon.
HaRuMaN, couple more questions I thought of:
1) I saw you mention that the control panel is removeable. Is that the only way into the innards of the case, to replace dead hardware and such?
2) Can you do modifications? I was thinking of maybe two small ports on the back side of the case for USB mounts, so you can plug a keyboard/mouse in for software troubleshooting and such.
Potato camera, just the way Rick likes it...
2 more Nintendo kits, rolling out the door...You staged those boxes, so somebody else would feel bad for not showing the wood . ;D ;) ;D hahahaha
So....not a dry-fit this time? Glued?
How many bartops do you need?? :lol2 per Galaga?
How much for one of those? I can't follow this chaotic thread or your website.
Are you selling the artwork and t-molding, too? All I see is a plain black one on the website.
What the hell? Your website lists the price, then says "plus shipping and handling". Click on the "plus shipping and handling" and it opens a pop up window that says "all prices include shipping, no extra charges". :lol
Are you selling the artwork and t-molding, too? All I see is a plain black one on the website.
Yes, I will be adding those to the website soon... A full set of Ms. Pac art (sides, CPO, marquee) and pink t-molding trimmed to 1/2" will run $80 for install yourself. I've thought about offering pre-installed, but haven't decided on that price yet.
Alright, that's it. Placing my order. :D
So, questions for the general populous:
What kind of speakers are you putting behind those fantastic grills? Are they computer speakers? Or like, stereo speakers that you've wired to a 1/8" headphone plug for plugging into your motherboard?
Is this the wrong thread for this question? :-\
Alright, to continue my "dumb questions post-purchase" thread:
I guess I don't know what the back panel looks like, because all my questions come from that:
How does power come into this box? Is there just a hole cut in the back where a single power cord can come out? And I guess that follows straight into a more general question: what's the ideal way to set these up to power on? You've got to at least be able to turn on/off the computer and monitor with one switch, right? Or am I missing something obvious?
Bonnie's Pink Box
Haruman, these are amazing. Do the cocktail cabs come with control panels? Your site mentions they can be used with standard Midway metal CPs but I couldn't tell if they normally ship with wood panels.
With the Nintendo, you could do a 19" vertically or a 20.1" horizontally.
Nope, I said that right.
You're slightly wider than tall.
Hello can you give me the dimensions on the barstick it is kinda confusing on the site, thanks
and is the price still $85.
Sorry strike that i found the info i was looking at the wrong item thanks
Hm... do I need another dust collector?Let me know if you want any more "special" art. ;)
Clearance! I have a V1.5 Standard bartop just sitting around, it was a hybrid prototype. Has the black melamine sides, but the rest is MDF. I can take pictures if anyone is interested. I was thinking $75 shipped.

Control holes drilled?
Someone try to LOWBALL YOU, MAN!!!!!1111 ?
What a deal!! :o
I have been debating how to get after this project for a bit. Your clearance one has me thinking about just going that route. Does the clearance one you are selling have the center piece with the monitor mount? If so, you can put me down for that kit along with the plexi. If not, i would probably pass and opt for a full kit.
Thanks
Sorry not sure if you received my PM,
Was a pedestal ever created for the standard bartop? I think one that is easily detatched and doubles as a bookshelf from the front would be really great. ill be ordering soon regardless!
thanks

You want the pedestal big enough so you can stand at the bartop?
Also, how much spacing you want on the shelves? Big enough for day a 360 game standing up?

Yes sir, that sounds awesome!
DVD size case is fine for the spacing, looking forward to the finished product
DVD size case is fine for the spacing, I will not need to fit any gaming consoles onto it, it does not need any additional holes in it for connections either, looking forward to the finished product
Very nice! Could you include a piece of board to cover the very bottom opening?, I could possibly install a drawer into it. Also for the edges, I would prefer to have it pre-cut for t-molding. Let me know the pricing of everything, I want to get the standard bartop, pedestal, polycarbonate bezel & marquee and have everything pre-slotted for t-molding.
Did you get my payment? not sure if my PM's are going thru.
HaRuMaN, I got the case and have been assembling it all weekend!
It's been going pretty well (considering my lack of woodworking/planning skills), but I have a few questions that may be dumb:
So I've got those little sticks, that it seems you're supposed to glue(?) into the not-as-deep slats, and then rest the back door and controls on them. I guess my questions are 1) do you glue the sticks into those slots and 2) how do you keep the controls from just lifting off when someone pulls up on a joystick, or the back door from just falling off?
Thanks! (Seriously, this case came out great, and my lack of woodworking skills are barely going to be able to do it justice!)
I love it, from concept to reality in 6 days!

Question for ya
I sent the plans to the CNC person here to see how much it would cost, but they are unsure of the dimensions. Any idea of them so I can let him know? It is based off of your rev_c design.

Hello sir!
This may be my final question (haha, who am I kidding), because the constructing part of this may be nearing the end!
So the marquee. You said grab some L-channel? How exactly is that installed? I can't figure out how that would hold plexiglass and a sign. Maybe I'm just not picturing it correctly...

How exactly are they unsure of the dimensions? It's an Autocad file, the dimensions are in the drawing. Everything is in inches.
I am not sure either why they couldn't tell. Oh well. I just wanted to get a price of how much it would cost. I can't open the autocad file at work and see. They said they can't do square corners either, only rounded
Maybe I'll just order from you, we'll see!
Thanks a bunch sir

Yeah that sounds very weird. The only corners I can't get square are inside corners, they will always have a small radius to them. Outside corners, no problem.
I tried 3 non-autocad programs to open it and none of them show dimensions :\
Maybe I just need autocad to see them. I tried getting the trial for it, but it wont install. Oh well, ill try again after thanksgivingI am not sure either why they couldn't tell. Oh well. Alright came up with another question:
In this thread a few people showing finished products, the edges of the two side panels have this nice black plastic edging. I don't know how to find that. I tried "edging" at amazon, but all it has is gardening stuff. I don't even know if its called edging.
What's that stuff?! :)
EDIT: Edge Banding. Found it. Of course as soon as I ask. haha
EDIT2: Okay so... Do you just get it 1/2 inch wide and iron it on? I can't find it 1/2 inch wide in my basic google/amazon searches.
Wow, that looks amazing!!! The packing and shipping quality on Haruman's stuff is second-to-none. Kudos.
Any idea how much tmolding I need to order for the bartop and pedestal combo?
Looking forward to putting everything together!
Bartop. One I can stick my TV Pong console into.
Vewlix bartop? Too plain perhaps?
Hey, I built a cabinet from your cad design (I have access to a CNC machine) and it looks great. I just changed the control panel for a 2 player layout.
How are you guys mounting the joystick on the 1/2" CP? Just with a regular nut and bolt? Thanks.
Looking forward to putting everything together!
Have a new slot cutter coming Friday, I just burned up my last one. Will get your kits slotted over the weekend, and mailed out on Monday.

So I might just be a dummy, but how does this marquee plexi go on? I have the plastic u-channel pieces and the piece of plexi for the marquee, but do I just glue the plastic pieces on? I am very confused.
Can you give any detailed pictures of how this all works?
L channels would make sense, but I ordered your 1-Player kit back in the summer and you sent me just U shaped pieces. That's where I was getting confused.
Ok, that solves the mystery of what the U pieces are for, but I still don't have a way to mount the plexi. Were you sending out L-Channel pieces at one time? Did I just not get any?
Can you send me a picture of all of these pieces installed? Maybe have it as part of your installation pictures in the first post?
Potato camera, just the way Rick likes it...

Funny. I always read it as "How'r you, mon?"... Like a drunk Trinidadian or such.
Does your CNC guy give you the angled edges or are you doing these yourself?
Whats the easiest way to mount the monitor in the widescreen kit. I have the monitor mounted to the VESA board, I read farther back to turn the cab on its side but how do I know the best spot to mount it? Should I have the plexi on the monitor first to allow for that space?
I usually lay the bartop face down, rest the plexi in, set the monitor on top of the plexi, and mount it that way.
Are those for the cocktails?
This right here is gold!
Your ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- is turning out really polished my good man HaRuMaN!

I'll be honest. While most of your designs look great, I'm not really loving the look of this one. (You know me. I consider you a friend, so it's certainly not sour grapes on my part.)

you gotta picture it with art I guess? forgive the MS Paint , Im at work.

Thanks. The weekend has been pretty busy so i took some time little by little to try to get the triangles symmetrical etc. my vector work is very rusty but so far i'm working on cleaning up the image and setting it to scale. So you are looking for something similar to this then ? ( I added the joystick surround to the other art you linked - it isn't perfect but should work - would probably work better as a vector rather than in PS but it's been awhile since I tried any vector work.)

You must pay your artist a ton of money for that kind of work.
I pay him in Harubucks...
I pay him in Harubucks...
'Tis true. I have $40 HaRuBuCkS saved up. What's the interest rate?
I get 1 Harubuck per complete art set, almost up to a tenner! Rick gave me a virtual high five then took my VESA mount idea :(
Wow that's beautiful. Description on your site says it's meant for a 17" or 19" horizontal monitor, what's the biggest vertical it could fit? Are the artwork areas (marquee) the same size as a full Nintendo cab or shrunk down?
Marquee is shrunk down to fit the cabinet. How would you know? >:D
So is anyone offering the artwork for this? I need to get started on my H-Man special soon ;)

I hope I'm not stepping on your thread HaRuMan - but have you seen these: 8bitlit.com
I backed it on Kickstarter and have had it hanging up for a while now. You hit the bottom to turn it on / off and it makes the coin 'da-ding' noise - very cool.

Get out of my head! I was just going to PM you that very same edge design idea. Will the top/bottom panels be interchangeable? I'll be in for one, but I'd like to hang it with a light in from above. I'd assume you could use the same whole sizes for that regardless if you were using it as a floor standing lamp or hanging profile.
Next up: 1943: a Tiny Pilot kit!
Sides are 3/4" MDF, all other pieces are 1/2" MDF. Should have the estimate back from my CNC guy in a few days.

I had a little trouble mounting the marquee light after assembly too.
I used cold cathode lights with the included velcro for mine, worked pretty well (installed after assembly).
Hey guys or HaRuMaN, does anyone have the widescreen bartop (2 player) cnc plans or templates? I want to attempt this. I suck at cutting wood so was going to print the CNC plans to scale and use it. I did download the sides that were posted at the beginging of the thread but was looking for inside measurments etc. Any help is highly appreciated. Damn HaRuMaN does great work! Very creative!!!
Thank you
Luis
I am pretty certain a 19" will mount vertically, I have one at home I can measure to double check.
The marquee is held on at the top with a piece of L-channel, and at the bottom with a piece of H-channel. The top of the bezel fits into the bottom of the H-chanel, and I have a mounting slot at the bottom for the bezel.
Got a drawing or pictures of Nintendo buttons? I don't see what would cause them not to clear, but I would need to see some to be sure.
Thanks!
-Lee
Right on, Lee. I appreciate the response. Here is what I can dig up (attached below). I imagine it would be okay, I figured I would ask.
Is the h-channel and t-channel included in the price for the marquee and monitor plexi? I saw a few folks were showing off cabarets. Have you thoughts about getting these done through a CNC guy? If so, do you have an idea of cost to do it (maybe a ball park on shipping?)? It's not for me, but I have a friend whom I was telling him about all the work and success you had on these bartops. Then I started showing him some of the testimonials. ;D

Yeah, that button should fine. H & L channel are available for an additional $15. I custom cut them to size to fit each cab.
I have drawn plans up for a cabaret, I think I got an estimate from my CNC guy, let me take a look.

I got the two player model and I'm planning on putting Sanwa sticks in it. Will they feel ok just mounted underneath? Or should I get the extended shafts? The bottom of the CP isn't routed for them.

Excellent! I wasn't sure because I didn't see them for sell on your site anymore, but now I see on the front page that the Midway cocktail is being redesigned. Do you know when the redesign will be ready for shipping and the price?

It's the next one on my plate. Should be very soon, price for cherry woodgrain melamine would be ~$220 shipped. Can also do a cabinet grade baltic birch for around $260 shipped (this one you would need to stain or something to finish). Both are 1/2" materials.
For one i'm 40 too, for 2 i'm black, so how the heck is a brotha suppose to know anything about Technoviking :afro:
Just watched vid, dude is jamming......sorry Haruman, carry on with thread greatness :applaud: :applaud:

I'm black, 450 lbs, and 5' tall.

Well, ZapCon is less than 2 weeks away. I'll be there set up as a vendor. I've been working feverishly to finish off some bartops for the show. Looks like I'll have:
MDF Weecade V1 running a DC with VGA box and Mini-SLG
Melamine Weecade V2 running MAME with a prototype howler PCB (courtesy of Wolfware Technologies Inc.) and RGB controls (courtesy of Paradise Arcade)
Melamine vertical kit running a 60-in-1 with a Mini-SLG, with Galaga artwork
Melamine Neo Geo kit running a 1 slot Neo Geo Mobo, RGB to VGA converter, Mini-SLG
Brand new widescreen kit (V2) running Xbox 360 with hacked controllers & all Sanwa controls in a Vewlix - like layout
Cheers to yotsuya for bring his haruman cocktail kit for demo.
Anybody here plan on attending?
Add in the bonus of getting to meet Yotsuya....who wouldn't consider that tempting! ;-)

If you come, drinks are on HaRuMaN!
Would really like to see that widescreen v2 in real life....any chance you could post some pictures of that?
I, unlike Rick...don't care if you use your crappy cell phone camera. ;-) LOL
I'm kicking around the idea to come. I can't make CAX which is right in my backyard (I'll be in Lincoln, NE ugh that week) but I'd like to go to one of these cons, plus I'd love to see some of your stuff built up and in the flesh. Add in the bonus of getting to meet Yotsuya....who wouldn't consider that tempting! ;-)

Some of us cut slots into the cabinet sides to fit our plexi. (Only in Canada you say? Pity!)
:D
What if your customer doesn't want plexi? Then they're stuck with slots running down the sides... hmm... My slot is hidden behind the control panel.

Haruman,
What do you think about a podium style cabinet? Something like this: http://i.imgur.com/GZyOMwe.jpg (http://i.imgur.com/GZyOMwe.jpg) except four players and... you know.... wood. :dunno
Power(ups) to the people!

You designed a full size cab and shipped out yet?
Might have some work for you :afro:
How much for a Kaneda Special shipped to 85015?

In the DC? There is one. Just hard to see in that pic.
I have an "Inspected by PinballJim" sticker for the front of that Weecade ready to go for the show!
How does the new widescreen differ from the old widescreen model?
Do they all come with the Dorito bag attachment, or is that just if you buy the Galaga art?
Hmm. What could this be...

I recently got the itch to get back into the hobby. I've read through some threads over the past couple weeks and came across this one. I'll be going to ZapCon on Saturday and I'll make sure to stop by your booth to chat about your bartops. I think one is going to have to be my next project.
That Neo Geo is amazing btw :applaud:

Funny story-:lol Do you blame him, free arcade games to play. He made his own early bird pass to get in. lol
HaRuMaN and I are there setting up his booth when this young adult kid wanders by. He starts talking to us, and he's especially taken with the Ultimate Widescreen Bartop. It's all going good, and then one of the organizers asked him who he's there with. We realized he was just some kid who wandered in off the street and walked into the venue. She kicked him out, but after he had gotten in some games of SF4. Did you hand him a business card?
I bet he was one of Rick's spies.
That looks pretty incredible! :) Glad to see those pictures!

What I was hoping to see was some daily update posts throughout the day, yesterday. But no, you didn't think we were waiting to see any statuses, did you? I mean, come on man. We're chomping at the bit, here. That's certainly no way to treat your adoring fans!
:burgerking:
Lol. No wifi at the venue, otherwise I would have been posting non stop.
I gotta give props to my man HaRuMaN- he was at the show hustling and schmoozing. He sold one bartop there and generated a lot of interest for future orders. The man was a machine! ;D
I'd cover for him whenever he needed a bathroom break, but other than that, he was at the booth and always on. I give him credit- there were a lot of tire-kickers, but also a lot of genuine interest as well. He's already formluating plans for 2015!

No cell phone signal either? I don't buy it. I call shenanigans.

Was it, perchance, a "Booth Babe"? Or, just some girl with a visible thong?
I wish I was closer...sound slike a blast.
by the way, that Galaga is so ---smurfing--- awesome! I just HAD to order one..with the artwork..
That Donkey Kong is awesome, too.
So many talented people out there making this hobby great long after arcades have come and gone. Good news for people like me with ZERO artistic and woodworking skills. Being 44, I've spent countless quarters in actual arcades back in the day. I like the new games as much as anyone, but there is still something special about firing up a game of Galaga or DOnkey Kong.
Glad to hear that the show went well!
Just to let everyone know, the Howlers are NOW SHIPPING! Any chance the tops could be black melamine and the sides raw MDF for painting/vinyl application? 1/2 or 3/4?mannnnnn raw sucks for paint and vynil. I have a V1 kit done (Bonnie's Pink Box) and 1 in progress (still) Bobby's TMNT project, if the parts weren't held in with batons , the thing I'd hate most would be the sides. Took a lot of work to get the sides super smooth on both cabs. Ive now done a couple V2+ cabs and the vinyl goes on the sides perfectly with a nice smooth melamine surface.

just wondering ;D

I use a small spray bottle with water and a drop of dawn. Spray the top of the wood till it's wet, apply the sticker on top, get it aligned, and then use something to squeeze the water out towards the edges. I use a hard squeegee, one of the yellow ones from here:

Do you cut the control panel so that there is extra hanging over edges, then once everything dries, cut that excess off? I just don't want to have the edges lifting up once everything dries.
Sorry for the newb questions..I've never applied artwork to a control panel before, and I only have ONE shot :(

What size tmolding did you trim. I have used 1/2 black and white, but now i want to use a red color and cannot find 1/2 in red.
Does the 3/4 provide a smooth finish? Any pictures. Just curious before calling.

Working on finishing my widebody bartop! Its a beast and I love it, but having to do a few custom tweaks in order to ventilate it enough for the PC. Got the art finished and will be sending to printer soon. Based off the awesome Streetfighter Cab here http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,84649.msg886549.html#msg886549 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,84649.msg886549.html#msg886549). Any feedback on the art?
What are you guys using for speakers? The only ones I saw with detachable volume were ones with subs.

So you don't care about the volume? DO you just adjust in MAME or whataver software you are using?
Nice, good price too. I imagine you can crack that volume control piece in half and get a rod onto the volume pot

I use industrial velcro and it actually holds really well.
If someone purchases it today, I'll throw in a free T-shirt! :burgerking:

For Rick's enjoyment
Haruman,
I've got a killer (and probably already done elsewhere, haha) idea for a cabinet, but need someone to... you know... make it and then sell it to me for monies.
So... do I send you a PM? :)
Already have.I havent seen it, and I am looking to get one.

How much are the pedestals? PBJ budget friendly or do you need to be in the Kaneda tier to afford one?
Define PBJ budget friendly?
Looks great man!!! That reminds me I've been slacking and need to get you those button rings. I'll make em Friday and mail them to you. :applaud:
I notice that a "barstick" is your least expensive option. what does that consist of?
You'd be better off hinging an opening on the front and adding shelves inside. The areas underneath players 3 and 4 are excellent stool storage.

how much for the funglo style? My dad and I were planning to build simple one based on some plans posted to over clockers forums but I like what I see in this thread.

To each his own. I'm a fan of Nine Inch Nails myself - although I wouldn't go so far as to model a cab after it.
I liked Pretty Hate Machine, but the rest is lost on me. This is coming from someone that's listened to industrial music for 20 years.
Very few people know that Rick has a Bryan Adams/Glass Tiger-themed bartop in the works...
Haruman, PM incoming. I have my ideal classic arcade stick in mind thanks to deadmoney5 posts on page 40. If you don't do what I'm proposing, I understand :)

If you want a piece left out, order from bartop arcades.
Not particularly. Only business I've done with Haruman that I can recall is buying a pair of Xbox controllers that didn't work.

so I finally got down to working on the kit from haruman and just wanted to share what I've done so far. I used a multicolored led light strip to light up and change colors.
Orders Open! New Models Available!???
pm me please cuz I can't pm u.. I wanna place a custom order ;D
Hey there, I should be picking up your kit from the CNC either today or tomorrow, and then the slot cutting & packing will take place over the weekend. It will ship Tuesday, you'll get an email from FedEx with the tracking number.
I can send you some templates to make some art up. I like to get my art printed at Soul Draw, but they have upped there minimum order, so it may not be economical for you. I'm usually ordering multiple sets at a time so it works for me.
I just use self adhesive vinyl for the sides & control panel. I don't cover the control panel with plexi, so far it's been fine. If this was getting heavy use like in an arcade, then I would.
The ultimate widescreen has been a very good seller lately, but I haven't seen many threads on them. I can tell you it is set up for Sanwa controls, 2 x JLF joysticks, 6 x 24mm OSBN buttons (screw in) and 16 x 30mm OSBN buttons (screw in).
Gameongrafix should work just fine I would think.
I would like to see a build log. I do enjoy seeing what people do with my kits.

Cabinet is going to be cabinet grade baltic birch plywood, control panels will be MDF
and big props to Haruman he did all that art for Berzerk on his own, and he did a pretty great job!
It has been a long time since I used photoshop, but I found someone elses art a few pages back and copied it to make myself a template. I think I set the size right. I haven't actually played the new ones yet, but I always loved Soul Edge/Blade/Calibur when I was younger so I decided to use that as my theme. Not sure if I want to put words on my Marquee or not, if I do I will completely redo it. I wish I could've found good artwork from the older games, but the fourth game had the best selection to work with. I really like the sides and the marquee, but a little unsure on the control panel. Is it too random? The colors are the actual button colors I ordered (before I decided on a theme). Like I said I haven't played with any kind of design work in years. Looking for honest criticism.

Sides look great, go back to the drawing board on the Marquee and Control Panel.
That logo by itself would make a great marquee, btw.
I'm thinking of getting another kit ( the ultimate kit and 2 modded wired xbox360 controller). I plan to put a xbox 360 slim in there and was curious on how you would get the sync button extended so that I could get player 3 and 4 wireless controllers to be linked when I want to play a 4 player game. What do you guys think would be the best solution. I would not want to open the arcade box just to hit the sync button or have 2 dedicated wireless controller for this kit. thanks in advance.
Did anybody make any bezels that fit your bartops? Currently all I have for my Galaga is a thick piece of black paper.

The 2 usb ports are going to be taken up by 2 dedicated wired controller hacks for the main cabinet. Can you plug more than 2 into a 360?
I have to say . i just got my cabinet from Haruman, I have not started building it yet , just opening it for inspection. This guy is the King of shipping. Every piece so far has been packed and protected very well. (sometimes you have to worry when fed-ex has it for a few days) If this is a sign of things to come i am already impressed. Thanks again.
I'm really interested in the Nintendo kit. I was scanning through this thread and I only saw the Nintendo cab as a digital picture. Does anyone have a pic of their own completed Nintendo cab to post? Also, I read on the first page that these are supplied as black, but can you possibly supply in the traditional Nintendo colors? I'm thinking the orange or light blue found on Nintendo cabinets. Although I have been restoring cabinets for several years, I never picked up being able to make my own graphics. If anyone can recommend a site or member here, it would be appreciated.
That is exactly what I am looking for. Can you even help with the marquee and control panel? How do I contact you on pricing?

What's the chance of seeing a Burger Time bar top down the line? I think that cab is one of the all-time classics in regard to the cabinet's visual appeal.
haruman whats the size of the marquee that fits the standard bar-top . i got plexi cut from you but haven't unpacked it. thanks
So a little birdie told me that HaRuMaN's Customs might have some exciting news coming down the pike? Care to refute or confirm the rumor?

I can neither confirm nor deny those rumors... ;)
Can you guys help me out a little here...
I am considering the Ultimate Widescreen bartop but not sure where the best deal is for all of the required joysticks/buttons/encoders?
I don't want to get ripped off and want decent parts, curious if the zippy sticks are ok or is the sanwa jlf the only solid option?
I would use Happ but I guess the Ultimate Widescreen comes routed for Sanwa JLF only.
* Haruman,
- What is estimated wait time for an Ultimate Widescreen bartop (order placed -> shipped out -> shipping time to west coast)?
- Is it currently best to PM you here or just order on the website?
Thanks,
Jason

Yes pretty much. Everything gets cut to order, I don't carry inventory.
Smart move, cause then you don't have to have a kickstarter to try and clear it.

A Kickstarter to clear stock?
Welcome to last week, Ricardo.
Order Submitted for an Ultimate Widescreen.
I'm having a fit issue with a mag stik plus on the 2 player-
With the stik "installed" it will hit the 2 buttons on the admin panel, not letting the control panel sit forward enough.

I ordered the widescreen bar top.
my monitor has been sitting here forever. where do I get the screws to mount the monitor? talking about the "vesa" screws?? or bolts or whatever. local hardware stores should have them??
You probably need metric M4 (<200mm x 200mm patterns) or M6 (200mm x 200mm pattern) machine screws per this wiki page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flat_Display_Mounting_Interface). ;D
Just in case, take along a pencil rubbing of the threaded insert in case it is a non-standard size.
What does the code "FUPBJ" get you?

Did I imagine it or did an entire series of posts just get purged from this thread?
:dizzy:
Yeah, that must be it. Could have sworn I saw some internet slap fight involving grown men arguing over who's idea it was to rip off the design of an old arcade cabinet.
:dunno
Have you considered making an astro city style bartop?
If I were to order one of your 2 player widescreen kits, could I get a different drilled front panel? Instead of having 3 holes on either side. Have 2 on each side and 3 in the middle?
I would like to have 1P and Coin on the left and 2P and Coin on the right with 3 admin buttons in the middle.
Thanks,
William
Have you considered making an astro city style bartop?
I know you could come up with something rad. My ideal would be an astro city style bartop where I could replace the panel somehow and have a few like one with a track ball or spinner. I played Centipede on an astro city cab once that had a trackball and it has just stuck with me.Have you considered making an astro city style bartop?
Haven't before but I'm thinking about it now...
I'm thinking a Crazy Climber Bartop is in my future...Would look good next to the Galaga. Plus I'm missing all the 8-way games now. :banghead:
Can you ship to the Philippines?
Widescreen bartop or the ultimate widescreen. Thanks!
EDIT: please also post the weight and dimensions of the box as I plan to use a freight forwarder if shipping directly to the Philippines would cost a lot

Ouch.
Ultimate: 39 lbs, 28" x 24" x 6", $280
Widescreem: 30 lbs, 24" x 18" x 6", $140
Not sure why the huge difference, I guess the more expensive one crosses some dimensional threshold...
Hey all, first time poster here. Now that I have read all 45 pages of this thread, I feel qualified to ask some questions. I'm interested in a widescreen kit.heres the ones I can answer:
1. Any pictures of a cabinet in white melamine? I'm interested in doing a "dry erase" bartop cabinet for my daughters to scribble on as they play.
2. Are there any videos of the hinges for the ultimate? I'd rather pay less for the non-ultimate, but it seems like having a removable CP would be pretty useful for changes. I'm having trouble visualizing how industrial velcro would attach.
3. What exactly is slot cutting? Is that the channel for the t-molding or for plexiglass?
4. How long is the wait right now?
5. How much is shipping to the Chicago area?
6. Do you sell buttons/sticks? Which work best with the widescreen kit?
7. Once the cab is glued, how do you access everything? Are people cutting a door in the back panel or attaching it with velcro or something?
Thanks, man. Hopefully I can fit this into the budget and get wifely approval.

Geez. that's too expensive (shipping cost).
Can you post the plan for the widescreen and ultimate? I'll try it first and if it didn't go well I'll buy a kit from you. Better start saving a lot of money now hehe

Kind of. I'm not happy with the way the control panels mate with the cabinet. Working on a better method.

1) See Attached
2) Videos? No. It's just a barrel hinge. See Attached. Hidden until opened up. All my other kits I use industrial velcro on the batons and on the front edge.
3) T-molding slot. You'll need 1/2" to complete the kit.
4) Little less than 3 weeks. Have 4 orders in queue at this moment.
5) $30
6) Not yet! Something I'm looking into. For the widescreen kit, standard Happ joys & buttons work well.
7) Velcro, or hinges for the back, velcro for the control panel. That industrial velcro is really handy.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of complication with the design. I see maybe three different depths, and two or three different bit selections? Where did you run into challenges?

That would look pretty damn cool with black light reactive paint, I think. $?
Perhaps Rick could modify your files and sell a Canadian version? "No Loitering, eh?"
(I've made signs like this in the past - once I have my shop working, it's definitely an option.)
No pic = no sign
Hey, are you done with that new thing we had been talking about? Xmas is right around the corner, and people might want one.
It will be going into a house that we are currently fixing up. I'll stop by there tonite to grab some measurements and scope out how much space we've got but it should definitely be plenty accommodating for a 2-player cab. The distance from the pedestal to the screen is the only real concern, but I can always just scoot them closer together and use a smaller screen. No biggie.
I know you don't have anything currently set up, but if we ended up going with a 2-player variation of the build I linked yesterday, would you be able to just throw out a ballpark price range for it? Thanks.

Your stuff looks excellent as usual.
Also, when did you change the name of the Nintendo-style to "Pretendo"? I like that, haha.

So just a standard Taito cab shape? I could do that :)
I'm pretty sure they kits are 1/2, so neither of the kits would work.
Either screw in to the wood from the bottom, or embrace the carriage bolts. I love the look of them. Screams authentic to me.
What are the marquee dimensions for the standard widescreen?
Also, is there a template file with dimensions for sideart and CP art? I'd like to try my hand at photoshopping and then gameongrafixing.
Haruman,
After reading all the pages in this thread, I decided on ordering the Widescreen Bartop from you. Just a quick question through, any suggestions for the acrylic bezel. I am looking for something Neo Geo or Street Fighter themed. Any idea on where I can start looking for them?
pretty much all the art on any of harumans kits were done by me.

QFT. With the exception of my R-type II art (done by opt2not) and the Berzerk art (done by yours truly), everything else has been put together by Malenko.
Man, it's been a busy January. 12 orders since Jan 1, been working steadily at getting everything shipped out.

Just the one with the stickers on the side. He's been a repeat customer for about a year now... and the Canadian post have proved to be a little brutal with the boxes. Heh.
Changed the way I've been shipping to Canada, started using instapack quick RT as well as some more dense foam insulators for the edges. So far so good with the new packing!

Newbie here. I'm one of the 12 orders since January. This will be my first build. Already have the software side setup, looking forward to the build portion.Very good call doing the software side first.
Few questions:1) Construction Paper
1.) Bezel, What could I use to do this?
2.) What type of paper is suggested to print Marquee art on. (for light to properly show through)
3.) Any suggestions for quality/inexpensive USB speakers, and perhaps a couple grills to cover the speaker holes?
1) Construction Paper
2) email stpcore with your art, he'll print exactly what you need
3) really any stereo speaker will work, I used felt on the top of the speaker wood to block light. Costs like $1 at a craft store.

I like the fat/tall look, but I also like the slims. There is one issue with the slims though, and that is that sometimes they arent deep enough to compensate for US sticks. I think a slim version of this stick is a great idea
Malenko, what kind of art do you have available? I was looking for something SF4 themed.I had gotten Haruman's Widescreen model, which measures at: L:18.6" W:23.0" H:21.45", if you need it.I PM'ed ya , I don keep designs "in stock" I kinda create on the fly. So get 3 more posts so you can PM me back :)
So, with some constructive criticism from Malenko (who assembled a couple of the first versions for me), I have redesigned the basic fightstick. That looks way better then the 1st design of them. I really never did dig those high sides on the 1st gen ones :D Those look really good now.
Top no longer is encased by the sides:

a case for american parts can be little slimmer. Id make it as slim as possible. same one can be good for us and jap parts.
Roger that. If you get a chance to quote it and want to shoot me a PM, that would be cool.
Did you have any designers that can make the vinyls for the side and controller and marquee for this model? From what I understand, this is your newest one. I apologize in advance if this question was answered already the forums.

Currently the plan is to make the sides & bottom out of 1/2", but may change that over to 3/4" to match the top...
Yes, it definitely looks amazing. I can't wait until I get it. On a side note, how is everyone attaching the control and back panel? Is it best to use Industrial Strength Velcro Strips? Or is it better to use a hinge for securing the back panel.
Do you have pricing yet? and when will be able to order?
I ended up going another route on my stick after getting the first design (I think I was the one to first hit you up about making them)...but after spending a year here and another year over at the other site, now collecting dedicated machines...I feel like I would prefer to build something around a Wico leaf or GGG new leaf stick instead of the JLW I have right now. My current housing is not deep enough. Do we know how much clearance you'll have for stick depth on this design?
That looks amazing! Pretty high price, but I'm assuming you're using quality materials. I bought the ultimate widescreen, and that one you're showing is just the widescreen. Any mock designs for that one? I wouldn't mind using this thread to showcase his designs. Actually, it might inspire others to purchase his work.
I dont believe I designed any full size side art for an ultimate wide screen...
I dont believe I designed any full size side art for an ultimate wide screen...
Because if you did, the profile on the side would have to look like this:
"Picture of Rick"
But yeah, I can't recommend the Mighty Malenko's art enough. (And if you received art from Malenko and didn't at least offer him a stipend, shame on you.)
Haruman,
Have you thought about having a display at Zapcon this year with a few different options for people to see? I have been in pinball the last 3 years but just starting to research building a cab for myself so am a total noob. I would love to be able to try out some of your more popular cabs to see what feels best to me before I commit to one.
I did Zapcon last year, had four different completed kits out.
DOH! I wasn't interested in building my own cab then so didn't pay much attention...I just got bit by the bug and have made it about halfway through this thread so far. Hopefully I can make a decision on which cab to go with after I finish it up. The amount of support and customization you provide is top notch and the community is lucky to have you in it. I may PM you if I have any questions so thanks in advance!

But where is the best place to get the correct buttons for this ultimate widescreen bar kit? I understand it uses standard HAPP buttons and it's dimensions are listed on the top page. But does anyone have any favorite vendors that they like to use to provide the buttons?
The ultimate widescreen needs Sanwa controls, 2 Sanwa JLF joysticks, 16 of the 30mm Sanwa screw in buttons, and 6 of the 24mm Sanwa screw in buttons.
Not Happ / IL.

Hi, unsure on how to PM you directly.
I may be able to get 1/8" or 1/4" of 4ft x 8ft sheet for good price. Was trying to build this on most minimal budget...
Can you please let me know what we can do ?
Thanks !
I have been working on my artwork. It is Mortal Kombat 9 inspired. I think the CPO needs some work it may bee too busy.
NOT KNOCKING IT, by why does everyone do Subbie vs Scorpion? Raiden vs Kahn , Sonya vs Kano, etc
Thanks for donating that fightstick to the BYOAC-ZAPCON project. You are gentleman, and your reputation as a seller is sound! Much obliged!

Yes, I have to talk to johnrt to get his blessing, but it's what I want to tackle next.
awesome, and what would you say the average size monitor that will fit in there along with the other computer parts behind comfortably
Looks great! What are you running in there?
I need to get one of those cab too..add some variety around here
where did you get that coin button?? link plz :police:
That's a lot of T-molding... Just received my first shipment of 1/2" colored.Hi HaRuMan, are you able to make a copy of the real original Verticade?
Hello,
Thank you for your awesome work. I'll have a lot of fun building it :)
Since there is 49 pages on this topic, I just wanted to make sure that your latest plan are the ones in the first page ?
And another question, you say "shallow" in the autocad plans, do you have a specific value that you used in your build ?
Thank you :)
Simon
Did you have to special order all that colored t molding? I thought 1/2" only came in black?!?
Cool. That's awesome for your bartops!
Looks great! What are you running in there?
Micro ATX Mobo with a AMD A6 APU CPU. I haven't stepped into the world of Jamma yet.
I thought it was going to need micro everything because of the sleek profile, but its actually quite roomy in there.
So the only thing I was confused about were the magnets. You can see on the lower inside area of the back panel that's where I put them. I already put the magnet in the houses so it was, no go on getting them unscrewed unless i hacked at it. Those magnet are no joke. As having it so low I decided to not install the metal plate on the other side and left them there as a reminder.

I got the coin buttons from GGG they are the NovaGemCDR Coin Drop Replacement Push button (http://groovygamegear.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=89&products_id=295[/url). And one more of the inside CP. Yes those are Ultimarc Mag-Stik Plus joysticks. Had to change out the mounting plate for it to fit. All connected to a Ipac 4.

I really want to order myself this cabinet kit. Where is this shipping from?
Ok thanks. Cuz don't know why the ordering page won't give me a shipping quote to California. And somehow now my order has gotten thru. I'm new to this and some of the members has such a nice setup. The software setup is what i need to do LOTS of searching on :banghead:

I don't see an order from you? I'll send you a PM.
Got some green 1/2" T-molding in.
Not "Galaxian Green", mind you. Was that intentional, or does the art behind it not mean anything?
Thats not Galaxian behind it :p
I intended to show that it wasn't Galaga (or galaxian) green by showing the art behind it. Hopefully eliminate any confusion. This was the only green half inch. Oh well.

Yes there is. I've been eyeballing that one for a while now. I should be able to have something drawn up very soon.
It's only been 2 weeks and it seems eternity waiting for this kit. I can't wait to start this project with so many threads to read through.
Whats shipping like to CA? Sorry duplicated on accident. You asking about shipping to Canada or California? Canada gets pricey.
I am Interested in a widescreen bartop and a full size cocktail (if the CP issue has been worked out) both in the white laminate covering. But need a few more posts before I can PM. Also Im in Michigan

Everything depends on the kit, though. Different box sizes and weights.

Is the The Degenatron CP customizable? I want to use sawna controls/joystick along with 7 buttons. Basically I want a ultimate widescreen cp setup but for 1 player, the degenatron seems like a good fit for this. Also, can you estimate shipping for either the ultimate widescreen or degenatron to 77007.
Thank you
Yeah the photo gallery on your website is kind of weak, need to get some more examples or finished products. Maybe a customer upload area.Yeah I do. I've got some pics collected, more would be great
I didnt disappear on you!
I agree, I don't think I would of ever been able to build any of the kits I did by myself from scratch. I just don't know what to get next.I don't know why, but the image of a member near the beginning of this thread stated "$140 for some woods?" somehow had burned that image in my head.....hahahaha I think it's a reasonable price eventhough i have the carpentry tools. One does not know the time you need to spend just from measuring & cutting to make it fit perfect......especially with someone like me whom has a family of two small kids.
I just purchased an ultimate widescreen bartop along with a couple of accessories and got a invoice that is automatically generated. I had a few questions I emailed and haven't got a response or any kind of shipping ETA/ Tracking number for the purchase. Is this business still operational?
Nice kits, I wish I would have found you first, I would have bought a kit from you instead of my crappy eBay one lol.
Don't be surprised though if you see an order from me in the near future though ;D
Speaking of Cocktail kits, I am just about done with mine. Just need to clean up some things on the coin door (got from Yots thats again bruh ) and configure all the games. First time using RGB buttons so it was a pain wiring everything. Still need some glass clips, not sure if I want to try some small suction cups or just make some custom clips. That looks super tight, brother!

1) yes 2) yes 3) just let me know what kit you want, and what layout you want, I can mock up a layout for you to approve before cutting
Sent from my LGLS740 using Tapatalk
I can do that layout no problem. A 24" widescreen LCD will fit. The internal width is 23". Your pc components will fit too.
You'll want the screw in type buttons.
Malenko here on the forum is familiar with my kits and has made art for quite a few of my customers. I would contact him via pm.

HaRuMaN,
Best kit for a 21.3" 4:3 lcd that also has enough room in the back for a standard atx de-cased pc?
- The lcd is 18.7" (W) x 15.0" (H) and would be used Horizontal/Landscape.
Oh and is there a 1 player 8 button + trackball option with any of the cabs (would it require a smaller trackball, like a 2" model, or still too deep)?
- http://www.hollandcomputers.com/store/pc/catalog/ra-track-ball-2-in_02lg.jpg (http://www.hollandcomputers.com/store/pc/catalog/ra-track-ball-2-in_02lg.jpg)

Hello there Haruman, I just sent an email to you to discuss the possibility for custom made bartop arcade from your store. Hope you could get back to me whenever you got it ;)

So. The best bet for that monitor would probably be my new Big Red kit (not yet in store). It could handle your monitor, 1 player 8 button setup, and that 2" trackball.
Build (I've installed a Dell 2001FP in there. 20.1" 4:3):
Also curious... what is approximate cost with full art/plexi/t-molding (just like your render) if available?

hey haruman, i thought of another question, can you print and apply art to my cab if i supply the art, so i don't have to deal with it during assembly? or is that a bad idea? i would of course pay for itI've actually done this before for another customer, there wasn't any issues.

So, kit should come in around ~$160 based on the size.
Plexi: $40
Art printed: ~$80 (sides, laminated CPO, marquee)
Marquee retainers: $15
T-molding: $10
VESA Screws: $3
Shipping: ~$45 (fully insured FedEx Home)
I'm still futzing with mine, but I think it's ready. Just need to write up the installation instructions.

Good weekend. 8 orders packed up and ready to go. One ultimate widescreen, three regular widescreen, one cocktail cabinet in white melamine, one Nintendo bartop kit in Baltic birch plywood, one assembled fight stick with art and T-molding applied, and one order of just T-molding and marquee retainers. Whew.

I'll use my first post to say that I've been looking through this thread obsessively. There's no way I'm not going to order one of these in a week or so.
Keep up the good work!
Let me know when you're done prototyping that thing. I've got some people that want to look at it.

You just stay inside and play your video games all day. Duh!Or get in the pool and drink beer, and try not to drink so much that you drown by accident... Lol
Yeah, I really need to get cracking on a driver bartop...My hype knows no bounds.
In another news, another day, another harubuck... 3 Nintendos, 1 baby Nintendo, and a slightly redesigned Defender (no more sharp corners, marquee retainers easier to install). Just have to pack up, now.

So I went to the Amazing Arizona Comic Con earlier this year and had a couple comic books signed by Greg Capullo. I want to hang them up in the gameroom to display them, but I really didn't find much in the way of comic book frames. Solution? CNC some! First prototype, unpainted mdf and plexiglass:

Currently having to rebuild a privacy fence after Tropical Storm Bill kicked its ass, plus I had to replace the central air system (inside and out!), so the money is tight, but I pop in this thread occasionally to dream of a new project that's actually fun.

Hey, don't want to be greedy or anything but is there any way any of you can supply cnc plans for a 2 player bartop with those nice curves? :/ Can't find anywhere
Well that was fast, i am not allowed to reply back to personal messages dunno why. Some questions, the file you send me will open with any cnc software? I ll take it to a guy so i don't know his programs. Also which type of monitor that build takes? Thanks
Ah , just read on your website it takes a 23 inch monitor.. Mine is 17inch, best case scenario i can find a 19inch :/

What happened with the begging for a coupon? Did that pan out? ;D
Just purchased my widescreen kit last night.
This will be my first build ever. Gonna do a RetroPie build since i'm already comfortable working with Raspberry Pi.
I just joined the forum and if someone could have Malenko PM me, that would be great. I'd love to commission him to do the art for my kit.
I'd say the midway cocktail is done. I learned enough with the last one, it's good. And I have some prototype 3/4" clips that need testing, too

Shoot me your address in a PM, I'll get them in the mail.
OK, so I just ordered the Degentron, T-molding, Marquee, Bezel, retaining clips, etc. I have a couple of questions before this all arrives and I start on a new project.
First off, I see that you're saying a 17" is recommended, but that a 19" would work.. have any specific model of 19" that will go in this? I want to maximize viewing.
Second, what are the dimensions of the marquee and bezel, and where can I find someone to do a custom one for me. This one is actually gonna be for a friend of mine from work and will be going into his mancave/bar. I'm thinking Hyperspin this time around instead of AtomicFE like I used in my sons.
Typically a Dell 19" 4:3. As long as the width of the monitor is less than or equal to 17.7", you should be fine.
Malenko here can help you out. I'll let him know you're looking for art. The marquee is 17.75" x 4.5", top & bottom half inch should be black bars, leaving 3.5" view-able. The bezel is 17.75" x 14.25".
Is the widescreen marquee basically is 22" x 4.5" (3.5" view-able) and 22" x 14.25" for bezel? I am finally putting the widescreen I purchased from you together.
Thanks
Luis

Yes!! Those dimensions show that I can put a 19.1" ASUS in it

Why do people add admin buttons? Thinking after I set this puppy up right, they won't be used enough to warrant them being added. If anything, I could add usb to the case and connect a keyboard and mouse for any "administrative" tasks. Or I could use "shift" function that Ipac has.
Another question as I'm about to partake on this journey it seems many people have been taking recently - that of building my first Mame cabinet using Haruman's Ultimate Widescreen kit...
What are the benefits of running a PS3 or XBOX 360 as the main system instead of custom built PC? Obvious thoughts are having the ability to play those system games as I believe emulation for these systems is still undeveloped. Am I missing anything? For those that have went this route, are you able to run Hyperspin; as well as emulators for other systems? Please explain pro and cons of going console in cabinet route.
Thanks in advance.
Mine isn't modded, but you could theoretically put a modded one in there to avoid swapping discs.

Many thanks!

Don't think it is painted - they cut white Melamine panels that already had the white surface and covered the exposed areas with the t-molding.
Hi HaRuMaN,
Do you share the plans for your other variants as well? I am interested in getting the 2 player wider cabinet CNC cut here in the UK as shipping from the US is not an option. Do you have a shared repository of all your models?
Thanks!
I think you emailed me, too? If so, just sent you an email back.
Here is my current revision of the CNC plans:

Apologies if I am being thick but you replied without any text?
The link in the initial quote from your message back in Feb only points to 1 design, I was wondering if you also shared the designs of the wider kits?
these holders on side should be optional. not everybody want those lol..

I have a question regarding the Widescreen version. It might sound a bit stupid, but I'll be ordering one shortly and was trying to plan it out.
(Ref: http://shop.harumancustoms.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=59&product_id=51 (http://shop.harumancustoms.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=59&product_id=51))
On the "admin" panel (vertical, front) there's holes for 6 buttons, 3 under each player. What would be recommended for these, probably for a Pandora's Box (most likely) or a Mini-ITX MAME setup (later)?
I can see having Player 1/2 and Coin 1/2, but what would some of you recommend for the 3rd button on each side? I did a CP a few years ago and have pause, menu (tab), and enter, but the grouping would look strange like that. I have no problems drilling extra holes as necessary and prefer to keep the non-standard controls separate from the rest, but blanks always looked odd (not to mention they seem to cost more than actual buttons ;D).
Hello everyone,
I just ordered my first kit from HaRuMaN, and i'm very excited to get started. My brother has been wanting to buy an old arcade for quite a while, so i'm hoping to surprise him with a much nicer/more modern alternative.
Problem is, I have almost no experience with any of this with the exception of using RetroPie. Based on what i've read through the tons of pages on this thread, i'm thinking of going with the ipac-2 controller, but i'm at a loss for what buttons and other accessories I should go with. I'd like to emulate 05SRT4's build as much as possible.
Any advice you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated.
Speaking of which, Haruman, you should put an option on your website so that the buyer can choose with or without admin CP button holes. Would save you time on the drilling, and people wouldn't have to contact you to request it. I'd have at least 1 button for the admin CP on the right side though. There is nothing that it will get in the way of over there. Then a person could go coin and start on top, and pause on the admin CP, everything else, into the iPac shift function.
Bro price to 85015?
Hello All,
I'm think of buying my first kit from haruman. I was leaning towards the Ultimate Widescreen kit. Does anyone know if the OMNI2 joysticks and the Spectra Eclipse push buttons will fit with default control panel or would I have get it custom routed and cut.
Thanks in advanced
Great thank you. ;D Just placed the order. i also asked if 4 holes could be added to the admin panel 2 on each side 1 for usb extention and 1 for the NovaGemCDR™ Coin Drop Replacement Pushbutton. Thanks again, Can't wait to get started, ;D
Has anyone ripped the buttons and joysticks out of an Xarcade and put them in one of Haruman's kits? I'm tired of stumbling over my half-completed bartop every time I walk in my work room and not actually playing any games... esp. since it's winter here now and I know I won't work on it anymore until next Spring/Summer... So I think a Haruman kit would be a good christmas present to the family (er... myself)
Cool - thanks for the quick response! Another quick question: since the last time I looked at these you added material options. Do most people get one of the melamine options over the MDF? Would the MDF be if I wanted to prime and paint myself?
Has anyone ripped the buttons and joysticks out of an Xarcade and put them in one of Haruman's kits?

The X-Arcade parts are HAPP clones. No reason not to do what you suggest.

No reason that couldn't be done, Xarcade joysticks and buttons are basically Happ clones.
Did you even read my post? lol...
Well, just pulled the trigger on an Ultimate Widescreen Kit (this build will be for myself). Having it sent to work (going to love the look on the receptionist's face when a 40 pound flat box shows up.... This will be for my 3rd build. I need to finish up the mini cocktail based on the Little Ms. Pacman design for a friend of my son's first...........

Will you be making(or already have) stands for your bartops?
got my kit today Haruman.... will begin assembly tomorrow...
Love the stands. I want to build a pedestal that has shelves like this, I think it'll fit the decor much better than a closed up box. That's probably the ONLY way I see a stand making sense for a bartop.
have you made any stands for the Midway vertical?
These are so rad. I'd love to get one for my Crazy Kong mini pretendo I built. Its currently sitting on an old busted speaker. :(Will you be making(or already have) stands for your bartops?

Just ordered The Degenatron. Anyone have a good idea where to start to get the artwork done on this?
Some free (previously) designed options would be nice. Or something custom. Not wanting to spend more thank 150$ on art.

Haruman, you have any designs for a Juke-Box cabinet? Might be a good idea to try. I know I've been kinda looking into doing my very own jukebox, and well, my woodworks sucks. But a kit would be awesome.... pair it up with the pedestal, and I could have one setup in my entertainment room in the basement. Same dimensions as a double wide would be great. I'm thinking of sticking a Sony 5.1 surround sound system using Optical input for a super clean signal. I have no problem with a bare MB, just don't want to destroy a receiver that much to make it fit somewhere smaller. ;D.
That would take someone else's input who is familiar with touch screens. I wouldn't know where to begin. They come in so many sizes too. I'm thinking a minimum of 20" monitor with 6.5" speaker ports on the side or up front. Don't know what others envision, but I'd like to use the the jukebox as the center channel and right left speakers, and hook up surround sound and sub to the back of it with a rack for my receiver (SONY DAV-DZ170 BRAVIA 5.1 Surround Theater System). I suppose I could use the stock speakers too. Either way. I'm thinking of 2 different type designs... one where the speakers mount in the front, and another where they blast out the sides. I imagine the one with speakers up front would be made for smaller monitor sizes.Haruman, you have any designs for a Juke-Box cabinet? Might be a good idea to try. Give me some ideas of monitors, speakers, etc and I'll see what I can come up with.
My juke uses a 15 inch 4:3 touchscreen and it works just fine.
Plus, you can find them pretty cheap on eBay.My juke uses a 15 inch 4:3 touchscreen and it works just fine.
I was thinking of something around the same size.
Now only the 'wiring up scary electronics part' has me scared stiff! :dunno LOLFor me, that's the easy part. I can do the programming, I can do the wiring, I can do the assembly (Hey, I put together and paint high dollar motorcycles for a living). Just never give me a saw. I'll hurt myself.
Been lurking for a while, finally took the leap and joined up.
Love your work, Haruman! I saw the kit Peabo bought from you back in October and the Mr. Do BARTOP project and pretty much swooned. I have been wanting to get my husband a Mr. Do arcade setup and his birthday is coming up next month.
You all are inspiring me to maayyyybe try to build it.
I feel confident I could put a kit like yours together. Have seen some great artwork in the forums here that I can see myself using for the build, too, and I am pretty creative.

Got the widescreen bartop. Great kit.
Thanks Haruman, from an old BYOAC'er---I think my last login was literally a decade ago.
Hey,
Is there any chance you can do a white melamine on one of your kits? Special order maybe?
Thanks,
JP
I sent you my email. please contact me. thanks!
Ok I know there hasn't been many people who have the cocktail cabinet done with the Haruman touch. But I for the life of me can not figure out how to mount my monitor to the top. Any helpful tips would be greatly appreciated.I mounted the monitor to a board, then used wood blocks between the backside of the top and the board. Worked fine.

I got the same kit and love it. As you can see I fudged up a couple of times trying to figure it out as well. I am still not sure if I installed it the intended way but it works and I am very happy with it. I dont think you would even need the 90 degree brackets I used, I kind of went screw happy on it. Haruman did a great job with these kits. The cocktail is usually the most played when I have people over.

Guys can you give me the link where can I buy the sticks, buttons and encoders that will fit? I just ordered the widescreen bartop from Haruman and I dont know what to order. I prefer ball type sanwa's. Thanks!
(Links or exact model number if possible)
But it doesnt come with microswitches. That's because the microswitch for them is built in. And yes, they will work.
Now i wanna get me a cocktail kit. Don't see the kit at HuRaMaN website.
Overstock? So I had one too many Minitendo kits made in Baltic birch plywood.
Any interest in a "deluxe" kit ready to ship? Has tinted plexi for the bezel, also includes plexi marquee, marquee retainers, VESA screws, and your choice of black, white, blue, or red T-molding.
To purchase this kit from the shop would be $243 + shipping, will let it go for $200 + shipping.
LMK!
Don't use an online viewer, go and grab DraftSight (free). It's what I use to draw these, and you will see all lines are there.

Ah okay thanks!
A few other questions:
What are people doing about covering the edges of the tv (like an overlay to go over the fron on all parts but the display)?
What are people using regarding glass to go on top of that (if anything?)
Guys any tips on mounting the joysticks? I bought the widescreen and trying to mount sanawa jlf. How do I make sure it is centered? Thanks
To follow up on this (and sorry if this is a noob question), what type of screw do you recommend using with your models (and a sanwa jlf joystick) to attach to the control panel? Since the top of the screws will be visible on top of the CP, do people tend to use a flatter head bolt or more of a carriage bolt? I didn't get any screws with my jlf's, so it's off to home depot with me, and I was hoping for some clarification... thanks!
heres a picture from my phone of the WIP in photoshop. Galaga art is done, Reunion art is almost done.id love to get my hands of some of this artwork or the files to get them printed, does anyone have a lead on this? :burgerking:

Hey all - Is everything alright w Lee? I sent him a few emails and even placed an order but haven't heard anything back from him in a short while. You do realize that ZapCon is this weekend and Lee is a vendor, correct? Because I know for a fact he's been super busy getting ready for the show.

I think you have to provide artwork and work the ZapCon booth to be eligible ;D
Just center the batons in the slot, doesn't need to be super precise on those.
The long batons go in the shallow slots on the back, they just prevent the back door from getting pushed in.
I don't know what got me more excited. :)
As I'm assembling my parts list...
Are these too thin on the CP to use flush-mount joystick kits with the T nuts?
No problem either way, just curious!
Do you have any plans to sell Jukebox kits?

That's always a possibility. Next up for new designs though is a mini virtual pin kit.
I still want to do a Q*BERT soon..
anybody done one yet?
That should work, although it seems like a little overkill, you could probably get away with smaller latches.
Hey there. Good luck! I also have the widescreen version posted on the first page, it's already wider and 2 players. Don't know if you saw that one or not.

Out of curiosity, how much did this cost to ship down under?
That was $155 (ouch)
I heard a rumor if you type in the word COUCH as your code, you get to stay at HaRuMaN's house for free during ZapCon .
I thought I had a picture of Malenko humping HaRuMaN's couch, but sadly it seems to have disappeared from my text messages.

Did a pedestal ever make it into the mix here?
I finished this several weeks ago, but haven't posted pics yet. First time posting pics so if it goes horribly wrong I may need help lol.
Special thanks to Haruman and Malenko for the kit and the sweet ass artwork
Currently running a 412 in 1 which I don't recommend. I think it's worse than a 60 in 1. I'm going to replace it soon with either a PC or an ArcadeSD within the next couple of months.
Edit: More details - I used goldleaf buttons on the panel and a Sanwa JLW. The panel is kind of tight on the minitendo kit so I'd definitely recommend the goldleafs. They feel great in gameplay too. The JLW was a hard fit. I had to bend some of the switch pins to get it to work ok, but it's fine. I used a 15" Dell and that's really the best size to use in this kit. You can see everything ok even with the bezel art. It would be hard to see everything with a 17".
Thanks again guys ;D. Now I want to see someone do a Donkey Kong 3. That would be rad. Now onto the widescreen kit I got at the same time. I want to finish all my projects before ZapCon!
I'll be buying The Degenatron soon. I just have some questions. What buttons would work best for the control panel and the admin? Also if I got a switchable joy stick would I have enough room to reach under the control panel to switch it from 4 to 8 way? If not Id just get a happ joystick that is 8 wayI got nothing to add, I just wanted to state I love the username booty900.

Now I have a different question. I just looked at The Offender bartop. I don't know much about control panels. But it looks like it is for 2 joysticks. So could I have a 4 way on the left and an 8 way on the right? And would a 17" monitor fit in the offender? And are happ controls for that one too?
I ordered a Haruman Ultimate Widescreen kit and have started to build. Can someone let me know what buttons and joysticks will fit? I ordered the stock kit. Thanks!
Nice theme. Can you provide some info on the artwork and how it was printed?
Hey all.
Been emailing Lee about some different things and don't want to keep bothering him.
Anyone have a place they recommend for joysticks and buttons and USB board to run them? Was thinking about the package of sanwa joysticks with buttons to fit 28 mm diameter button holes from another site. It comes with 20 buttons, two sticks and the USB encoder as well as an image to flash for RaspPi setup for the button assignments.
Anyone have any other suggestions? THANKS!!
Does anyone have the plans for this?
Is there any templates for the Ultimate Widescreen that can be used in Adobe AI or CS6 so we can come up with our own art. I noticed the CNC plans for the entire bartop but nothing with individual pieces to put art on. Thanks.
Question for Haruman:
I am looking into ordering a cocktail kit for a friend. I will be doing the build but I don't have any experience with cocktail cabs. I notice yours is designed for a 4:3 monitor. Another vendor makes one for a 16:9 monitor. I played around with cocktail mode a bit on one of my mame cabs (which uses a 4:3 monitor) and it seems to work well for head to head games. Is there any reason to consider a 16:9 for a cocktail? Seems to me that you would either have black bars for most games and you would need to futz around with scaling for head to head. The only advantage to 16:9 that I can think of would be for pinball emulation. Am I missing anything?
Thanks :)

16:9 is more available, that would be the only reason I would think.
However, the 4:3 Dell 2001 or 2007 FP are still easy to find, and are 20.1" 4:3 with excellent viewing angles.

Speaking of the cocktail kits, would these be able to accommodate a 19 in CRT monitor if I was to rig up some kind of mounting system?

I found a 2005fp dell 4:3 on CL. I have been googling to find out if its also IPS panel. No luck - does anyone know?

Are you sure ?? I don't recall there being a 2005fp - only the widescreen fpw which was 1680x1050 resolution so a 16:10 aspect - could be they listed it wrong.
the site is amazing. Love it alot more than the previous version. Very easy to navigate.

Personally, can't go wrong with the Sanwa OSBN (screw type). Keep in mind your kit has been cut for 30mm buttons X 16, and 24mm buttons X 6, all screw type. Joystick hole mounting pattern is the typical Sanwa JLF (another great all around stick, IMO).
Personally I love the real Sanwa stuff, but for sure, the knock offs can really not feel right.
They will work as long as you use shortened buttons for the admin CP. Otherwise, they will bang into each other.

i finally started to assemble this cabinet but i havent ordered my buttons, joystick or control board. will these buttons work?

While those buttons will fit, they are a little small (~28mm) for the holes (30mm).
as for the admin buttons, wouldnt the 3 buttons above the 1st and 2nd player be considered admin buttons if i set them that way?
Hey Haruman, I can't PM you as my account is new.Welcome aboard, Quattro. ;D
Hey Haruman, I can't PM you as my account is new. I have quite a few questions about the Ultimate Widescreen kit. What would be the best way to contact you? I tried your phone number but no luck.
Finished! Big thanks to everyone on the forum, as well as other forums on the web, and haruman of course! Ran through metal slug 2 (literally) cause I finally had a few minutes to give the arcade a somewhat lengthy test run. 32 continues, but it was for science! By far the biggest challenge was rocket launcher and hyper spin. Thanks all!

I was wondering if the bartops can be mounted to the wall? I wanted to buy a 2 player bar top box and then put a jamma pandora 4s fighter stickbox.. can this be done as I see you have cut outs already but I rather get one of these bozlxes that already come with all the hardware and games.

Glad you healed up okay.
too soon for "thumbs up" :police:
Decided to try to tackle one of the Haruman bartop kits. Trying to decide between the Ultimate Widescreen or the WIDESCREEN EVO XR 2. Hoping for something that can accommodate 2 adults playing Street Fighter 2 comfortably. Plan on using a 24" 16:9 monitor or a 23" 16:10.
Think I've decided to go with IL Eurostick and iL concave buttons.
Is the internal roomy enough for an ATX motherboard or is that too big?
Of the motherboard? 12 x 9.6".Is the internal roomy enough for an ATX motherboard or is that too big?
Should be. Have dimensions?
She's a beaut.
After almost two years of deliberation I finally settled on the Evo XR as my kit of choice and I'm 90% done with the art package but now I might have to bump up to the widescreen version. That extra wide CP looks super comfy.
I have been trying to contact Haruman about a custom Trackball/Spinner control. After 4 emails no answer ?

Hey HaRuMaN,
Are you releasing the plans or cnc files for your 2 Nintendo barcade cabinets?
I would like to build each one.
^ looks good. which monitor are you using? looks like a 4/3" ratio ???
However the EVO widescreen can do up to a 24" widescreen.
I'm so glad you take extra care when packaging your products for shipment. FedEx doesn't apparently feel the same way, but at least nothing inside the box was damaged!
Have one side glued together and I am going to try and get the other side done tonight before I have to leave for a work trip tonight.
Just about done. Though I'm sure I'll be tweaking software and config files and game lists forever.
Just need a proper printed marquee and I should be good to go. Looks like the marquee area is 23"x5", whereas most prints sold online seem to be design for 23x8" or 23x9". Also plan to add speakers and an amp, but the LCD has built-in speakers that are getting the job done for now.
Might try contacting stpcore
Here are the dimensions I gathered in my research....
Any word on the possibility of a virtual pinball cab?
Decided on Sizes? Mini or full Size? Extremely interested.

Quick question: Can anyone tell me what the marquee dimensions on the Mintendo bartop are, as well as the live area that's not covered by brackets?

Me. Well, future me. A couple weeks ago I had an idea for a project (something absurd enough that it might get me excommunicated from this forum lol) and I've been plugging away at the art ever since, just to see if it's something I'd want to do, but the marquee has been a blindspot and I've kinda been working in the dark on it.

I’ve been searching for either a bartop or controller kit (or two) for some time, but my problem is that I haven’t been able to find the button layout I want. I don’t need a ton of buttons as I don’t play fighting games. I’d like to have a control panel laid out sort of like Moon Patrol. My intent is to have a four way ball joystick in the middle, two buttons on either side, and 1 and 2 player buttons, and maybe a credit button. Do you have something that can accommodate this? Thanks much in advance!
Eddie
Haruman since you wont answer emails or messages and I'm a lazy and I don't wont to read can you cut a full size cab?

HOW MUCH!?!? Cutting, shipping to Michigan, etc. Its a Star Wars upright...
What kind of material?
Also shipping isn't going to be cheap...
so what other monitors are good for the cocktail kit? trying to see who else bought that kit and used another (preferbly new) monitor
hey, I noticed you haven't posted all that other stuff on your website that you've been working on. Not ready to unveil it yet?
Getting close.
Glad you reminded me. I just sent that file off to the CNC. :applaud:
Dude, hurry up. I want to see that prototype in realspace!
Should have it in hand Monday.

Seriously considering getting one of your cocktail kits.
Does one of the wood grain melamine you have match the original Pacman cocktail wood grain?
It looks like the back in this model is split for the hinging side&top, is that correct?
Do you carry the glass as well?
Thanks,
-Charles
Hi, I am planning to cut your widescreen bartop version out on my cnc. I have one question though, in the file it says "white lines are cut, yellow lines are shallow, redlines are pockets 1/4" deep. I was wondering how deep the yellow lines need to be? Thanks.
how much for a full size melamine cab .5 inch thick?
Wow. You are freaking lazy.
How the heck do I arrange shipping? Isn't it easier if he just bills me?
What other option do I have if I want a full size? I guess I could build a frame but that would take time.

Best option is to find someone local to do the cutting - the problem with full size cabs is most shippers will charge a lot extra for packages over 4' in any dimension since it takes up so much room on their truck - so it costs more than most people are willing to pay just for the shipping (often more than the cab itself ) -- CHeck your local area for a makers space that you could sign up to for a month or so and use their CNC machine ( or go there and see if they would be willing to cut it for you for a small fee ) or a business that has a CNC machine that would cut it for you for a fee (ie. a cabinet maker, etc. that has a CNC machine)- check your local Craigslist and see if any CNC shops offer services - etc.
The reason you will not find many cheap places that sell them is because the shipping can run several hundred dollars - since they are oversize/overweight for most carriers and if/when it gets damaged in shipping replacing a damaged piece means paying again for shipping making it a losing proposition to sell them in most cases. ( unless you are charging $1000 + )
hi,
I am trying to use the cnc plans for my own..
But my woodman told me the plas are scaled and now are 6mm :p
Does annybody knows the scale?
also, is it possible to use 18mm mdf? instead of 12mm
Kind Regards
hey Haruman, I just ordered a widescreen bartop from your site (very excited!) and was hoping to get some templates for the control panel/sides/marquee so I could get started on my artwork. Do you have any official templates to work from, or should I look to create some based on the DWG file? Thanks in advance!
can you also send them to me?
If you want ill pay for it :)
Also, what ae the small pices on the image? do we need them for installing?
Just placed an order for the mini evo. Would you happen to have any AI or PS type templates for the pieces that I could use for artwork? Order number is 534 if you need it.

Just wanted to see if you had a chance to get the templates for the mini yet. No rush just checking :)
Got my order for the EVO mini right before Christmas and the kit looks great. Just now having time to start working on it and was curious if you had assembly instructions for it like you do some of the other kits on your site. Thanks!
Can you use nails, and screws for added support, instead of just glue. Not needed, but yes, you could add blocks internally and screw them in.
This is referring to the cocktail cabinet kit.

A wood glue joint is stronger than nails and screws.
That is absolutely true, but the question didn't mention disassembly.
What the (assembled) dimensions of the Evo Mini cabinet? Guessing it's ~8-9 inches wide based on the monitor width?Approximately 19.3" Tall, 16.5" Deep, and 13.4" Wide
It's about time I posted some pics of my (nearly) completed Haruman Bartop. I went with an NHL 94 theme.

I was browsing that Minitendo on the website. So its not clear to me those options for the marquee, bezel, and control panel plastics are you getting just the clear plastic or does it already have the artwork on the plastic?
What’s the difference between this company and GameroomSolutions?
It helps me understand why I should have read that before ever ordering anything from GRS.. but what I’m not clear on is if these companies are owned by the same guy??

No they most definitely are not. Haruman's Customs is owned by me (Lee) based out of Arizona. GRS is Ryan? Not sure where he is based.

Ugh, thanks. I meant to order from you but ordered from them instead and ended up with a $500 paper weight.
You'll not go wrong. Haruman is a stand up guy with great product. I just wish he had a cabaret kit!
Hi, do you do full size models? I'm in AZ and can pickup if shipping is the issue with larger units.
Interested in an Asteroids or Full Berzerker...
Thanks, Lee! I think I might go with just velcro for the back panel, so it can be removed completely... any reason not to do that if the velcro is strong enough? (I have some velcro rated up to 15 pounds...)
Hi Haruman,
So sorry to bother you on here.
My 11 year old autistic son is absolutely determined that we build our own Minitendo Donkey Kong bartop, exactly as shown on your website Bartop Kits graphic. I sent you a message via the Contact link on your website, but have not heard back in almost 3 weeks.
Can you give me an idea of the approximate cost to buy the finished cabinet it with all of the DK graphics? I am also wondering if there is enough room to modify the control panel to have six buttons for some Street Fighter fun? I live in Toronto, Canada so I'm also wondering what the shipping/duty costs would be (approximately).
Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. I love your stuff and how easy it looks to assemble.
Thank you.
I could do something like that.
Send me an email. My username here @gmail.com
Thanks!
