I'm bored... no one needs any controllers hacked?
-
Just a piece of friendly advice. You might be a little high on the prices. Check Shoryuken.com forums and see some of the prices on their for hacking services. There's an Xbox360 on there complete for cheaper than yours including the pad.

Can you point me to one of those threads? I can't seem to find a search option there... :banghead:

HarumaN hacks are quality hacks. I'd swear by em. He's done a number of them for me and never had any problems and don't imagine I ever will.

Thanks!
Out of all the hacks I've done (and that's a lot!) I've only had one go bad... and I made that right by upgrading it to a wireless controller...

Yeah, I registered just to take a look... neither one of them have a picture of the completed hacks, and make no mention of what buttons are available. Looks like one of the sellers has quality/communication/turnaround time issues. :dunno
The amount of business I get comes in waves. Sometimes I have many orders, sometimes none. I doubt it has to do with my prices vs. those at Shoyruken.

Bump to mention that I will do 'volume' discounts. PM if interested.

received my controllers today, Awesome job! free bump

HarumaN or anyone else can you tell me more about your service, I have one arcade mame machine and plan on building a dedicated mini dreamcast arcade system.
with your controller hack enable me to hook up arcade buttons and joysticks?
can you post pictures.
thanks

Also, here is an older picture (I use terminal strips now instead of leaving long dangly wires):

Just wanted to give a shout out. Haruman hooked me up with a hacked 360 pad. I just got all of my controls hooked up and it works flawlessly. His service is top notch and I look forward to working with him again.

Thanks for the shout out!
Just a minor update, now doing Xbox 360 wireless hacks like this:
-
Here's what the dreamcast hack will look like (with optional analog stick hack):
Could you explain more about this? I am still planning my current project, but and was seriously considering tucking away space under the control panel for my new Dreamcast. The lack of analog stick and triggers really are a nagging issue for me. If Can't replicate the analog controls, I might as well just leave DC controllers hooked up.
-Damage Jack
-
I hack the triggers. I also can hack the analog stick, it just makes it act digital (on / off). What games are you playing on the DC that require analog function?
-
Well that's just it, isn't it? I don't know what DC games I'll want to play, but If I can't play certain ones, then the value of adding a DC to my cab is diminished --unless I have DC controllers at hand. Then the question is why hook the DC to my arcade controls at all if I am going to need DC controllers for certain games anyway.
I have tried searching for info, but it seems hard to find any regarding how to incorporate an analog arcade stick to a DC.
-damage jack
-

That's because it is very difficult (if not impossible) to do.
I have ~100 Dreamcast games. Only one of them (Berzerk) requires use of the analog stick, and none make use of the analog trigger feature. With that game and a hacked analog stick (now digital), the game is still playable, the only difference is your at full speed 100% of the time.

So I saw something about this service of yours in my other thread ;D. Can you hack a PS3 control to work with both PS3 and PC? What I am looking to do is to make a PS3 stick that can be later integrated into a cabinet.

Yes it can be done. There is a custom driver that someone wrote that will allow windows to recognize the PS3 controller. So, you should be able to use it for both systems.
Here are the instructions:
1. Download and install the filter driver (libusb-win32-filter-bin-0.1.10.1.exe).
2. Unpack ps3sixaxis_en.exe
3. Plug the SIXAXIS into your PC.
4. Run ps3sixaxis_en.exe once.
5. Push the PS button on the SIXAXIS once if it doesn't see it straight away.
I've included the driver files

Can you do any 360 pads that have common ground setups for the joystick?

Yes, the MadCatz pads for the Xbox 360 have a common ground.

Why don't you ask to be stickied?

I did ask... no one ever answered me back... :dunno

Got my pad in and setup in a state of the art joystick housing, thanks HarumaN!

Well maybe not that sate of the art, but I can play sf3 on MAME or my 360 untill my stick is finished. ;D

Looks good! Post some pics when you get the final product together!

One of these days, someone should make what could be called a 'dork' (or maybe 'noob') stick - made out of wood, but boxy and with some kind of electronic item's box graphics on it.

I made my first stick out of an old speaker box, a piece of particle board shelving for the CP, and then covered everything in black marble contact paper. It was pretty hideous.
-
Actually, I don't see marble finish being all that bad. Man, it would cost a lot but I bet people here who normally poo-poo marble melamine or whatever would totally go ape----steaming pile of meadow muffin--- for a cab made of actual marble.

Anthing you can do to get a Dreamcast controller to work with a JVS Naomi Cab control panel?
-
Anthing you can do to get a Dreamcast controller to work with a JVS Naomi Cab control panel?
You can take a hacked controller, and wire it to your control panel directly, or you can wire it to an edge connector, and plug it in to your cabinet.
-
I dont want to hardwire it to my control panel as I use it for other things.
I did buy this to enable a PC to connect to the control panel via USB
http://jvspac.kirurg.org/
Is there a way you can make a Dreamcast Version.
Or is there a way you can hack one of these to USB instead of an X-Arcade, then I connect my I/O via USB to it?

Aah, I forgot you did this HarumaN. Very nice hacks man. So each 360 controller has about 30 hookups I see. I'll need an enclosure with LPT connectors for it like this:
... so I can connect my controls to it.
I hope I wrote the pinout down somewhere :D
What are the dimensions of the 360 pcb with the wirestrips? What minimum size enclosure would I need to get?
-
Would you be needing wired or wireless hacks? If wired, I would HIGHLY recommend the MadCatz (GameStop) pad, as it has a common ground and only 16 hookups (vs. 30 for the non-commom ground M$ official pads).
I'll have to do some measuring when I get home...
-
The madcatz pads are 5.25 by 2.5 by 1 inch, and the terminal strips add a couple of inches...
I would wait until you had the pads in hand to buy a enclosure box. That way you could be certain they would fit.
-
hey HarumaN,
Great work!!
I want to build a FPS CP for my 360 using two analog joysticks
is this possible?
I'd need a wireless controler hack plus I'd need to find out what type of pot the controller uses and how to rewire those to the new joysticks
-
@ Bender, thanks! :)
Unfortunately, what you want has been requested / suggested many times. As far as I know, it just isn't possible.
The problem lies in matching up potentiometers. You have to match the neutral resistance (stick centered), which in itself probably wouldn't be too hard, but then you would have to match the extremes as well (as in 100% left / 100% right).
-
Whoa, check this out, how hard are these to hack?

It looks like quasimoto (http://www.quasimoto.com/accessories-for-home) did it
if your interested in trying it I'd be happy to cover the cost for parts for you to experiment with
I wanted to do something like this but on a cp not in a chair

Satisfied customer bump!
I just got my controller hacks from HarumaN, and one of them was a madcatz arcade stick. If you can get them for that cheap, I'd say go for it, the hack is solid and CLEAN -- HarumaN did an excellent job!
Thanks a lot brother!
-
Haruman, if you buy the controller for a hack, do you buy new off the shelf or try to get cheaper used pads? Just curious what the total price is for hacking a Mad Catz 360 pad that you purchase.
-

I get used, if available. For the most part, there aren't usually a whole lot of used controllers at Gamestop (where I would go), but sometimes I get lucky. Were you referring to the regular Mad Catz pad or the arcade stick version? (Both can be hacked with a single ground, but the regular pad would be smaller in the end)
-
Either would be fine. Are there any benefits or caveats besides price and size between the two?
-

Nope, both will function exactly the same. Shoot me a PM and we can talk details if you are interested.
-
My project is currently on hold right now for maybe a week. I've got a cheapo Hori 360 on order just so I can test it out. I know everyone says you get what you pay for with those sticks, but I'm at least going to check it out. Worst comes to worst I can sell it since they hold their value pretty well.
If I do choose to start on a new home-built stick, I'll definitely be buying one of your pre-hacked pads. Keep an eye out for cheap Mad Catz 360 pads, as I'll get back to you either way.
-
Sounds good. :) Just let me know.

Just got a 360 pad from Haruman today and it works great. Top quality work, and it's rock solid. If anyone needs a pre-hacked pad, these are probably the best you can get out there. Highly recommended!

Wow thats nice is that a quick release on a DB25???
Free bump to your thread because I need help obtaining parts to do my first build.
I found just one of the Female DB25 connectors that you can mount to something and solder the wires into metal tubes from the back side. I need alteast one more of those.
I need project boxes, terminal blocks (or terminal strips not sure what you call them), and any other general hints/tips.
I think digikey.com would have most of what I need but I cant tell from there catalog what is what.
So I appreciate the help, feel free to PM me so I do not derail your thread. Also I have 4 official DC pads inbound, I only need 2, if all goes well and you still need DC controller stock I can help you out.

It allows you to build your own controls for the Xbox 360 (or whatever other system), so you can use arcade style controls to play games.

Thanks, Haruman! :applaud:

ROFL... no problem. :) Just a note, the triggers (LT and RT) have their own ground, right next to them, marked with a "g".
Your other controller will be there tomorrow, I mailed it this morning.
-
Awsome!
I have a quick question can I trim the PCB a tiny bit as long as I don't cut off any connections?
-
So now that the wireless 360 pcb's have common ground does that mean that you can just take 1 wire from the pcb and daisey chain it to all of the buttons, and dpad instead of having to run a ground wire from each seperate button on the pcb? If so how many total wires are required now for a common ground wireless pad
I see you just mentioned the triggers have a seperate ground, does the dpad as well? If you choose to use the bumper buttons instead of the triggers, do they also have a seperate ground as well?
-
I have been having SEVERE quality issues with the common ground wireless controllers. 5 have failed on me in the last week, so I have had to buy new ones to replace them...
-
Do you have the sames issues with the common ground wired 360 controllers?
Also another question for you. On a wired controller hack, would it be possible power one led from the pcb without need a separate battery? For example if you were using one of the hollow joystick shaft's that luigi provides, could you somehow wire it to an 360 pcb, and have it lite when the controller was plugged into the 360?

No, the common ground wired seem to be fine, its just the wireless that have an issue...
Also, yes, you can pull 5V from the PCB (wired) to power one or more LED's.
-
awesome thanks for the info. Once I get my stick next week I'll get with you on a wired hack.
-
Thanks a lot for the trigger-hacked madcatz pads, HarumaN
I got them like a week or two ago, and just got to soldering the rest of the wires on a pad yesterday, and today I modified my SF Anniversary stick.
I'm really going to use these pads for something else, but I did this for now to play SFIV 8)
I added two microswitches in the memory card hole.. made one of them the Guide button, the other one does nothing, lol.
BTW, does anyone know what brand joystick+buttons I have in this stick? I'm not sure I like the joystick; the throw's pretty large.. and the buttons are too tall.
Pretty messy, but it's my first, and it works:

PM and payment sent. Now I just need to wait for LL to get more Sanwa stuff in stock. :(
-
Woohoo! Just got mine today, and it's almost perfect.
The right trigger wires weren't glued down, and one of the solder points snapped in shipping. Not a huge deal; I'm pretty noobish with a soldering iron, and I fixed it in a couple seconds. Actually, now that I look at it, I don't think HarumaN glues down the trigger connections because of where they are on the board. I might wrap mine in some hot glue to add a little more structure, since I imagine the box'll get a little beat up over time. I might try to pull a 3.3v line out later on for an LED, too.
ANYHOW.
I highly recommend this service. HarumaN was great throughout the whole thing, answering a slew of at least semi-annoying questions through PMs. I might have been able to get it wired up on my own, but there's no way in hell I could have got it as clean and solid.
/me sits and waits not-so-patiently for his akihabarashop order to come through.
Once again, to reiterate through my little ramble, this was totally worthwhile. I would have killed at least two pads trying to do this on my own.
-
Hmm, did I not glue the trigger wires? I must have overlooked that, I normally do. My bad... :dizzy:
-
Hmm, did I not glue the trigger wires? I must have overlooked that, I normally do. My bad... :dizzy:
No problem. I figured it was because they're in a rough place to lay flat on the board. I'll just add some around the connections (leaving them standing vertical) before I throw it in the actual box.
It was fun testing the thing out with just a small U of wire. :)
-
I've thanked HarumaN in other threads as I couldnt post here, but I just wanted to say that the service he provides is second to none.. He keeps in good contact with you, updating you all the way to the delivery date, the work is well done and I had zero issues with my PCB I got from him.
All in all I'd highly recommend him to people who want to build a stick with the least hassle, for a good price..

Was wondering if you could offer a bit of wisdom as to how I should proceed. Some friends and myself are putting a Wii in a showcase cabinet with the intention of running Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom on it. Basically, I need to know what my best bet would be controller wise and if you hack gamecube controllers (assuming that's the way to go?). I wouldn't mind converters/alternate methods but I'm not entirely sure there's been much down with a Wii. Problem that also comes into play is the distance between the unit and the buttons. Any suggestions or possible services you could offer would be fantastic. I'm interested in buying from you in the end!

ok so I'm following up on your comment on my thread about using a switch to switch between the Ipac and hacked 360 controllers. So how exactly would that work? I think the best thing to go with are 2 hacked wired controllers. I'm not thinking of buying it now exactly, but in the fall. I'm just trying to see if it's within my mean $$ wise.
So it'd 90 for you to hack and ship two controllers + cost of controllers + switch?
-
The switch would be up to you. Check monoprice.com for those.
-
If anyone is on the fence and unsure, HarumaN's work is top notch. Everything was shipped professionally and his communication was fantastic.
Almost completed my hookup to the cab (hopefully tonight for the weekend!).

Hello. I have been researching now for a while but have not come up with anything myself but, it seems like you are the man for this kind of thing. I guess it is hard to explain so I drew a picture to describe to you. I am building a cabinet and i am wanting to put a dreamcast and a xbox 360 in it. I am trying to make one control panel with both consoles hooked up to it. Here is my picture
(http://i746.photobucket.com/albums/xx104/dragworks/scan0001.jpg)
of course I would want all buttons and directions done , just did a few so it didnt get jumbled
Is this possible to do. If so how much would you charge me to hack 2 360 controllers and 2 dreamcast controllers to one terminal strip. I would ship the dreamcast controllers to you and I would want 2 official wired xbox 360 controllers.
Thanks in advance
Alex

I see no ones posted in this thread in a few months. Are you still doing your controller hacks, HarumaN? If so, I may have need for one of your 360 pads in the next couple of weeks or so.
-
Sure am! Hit me up with a PM when you are ready.
-
I am sure this has been discussed on srk forums somewhere but I cant find it. how do I know which madcatz 360 pads are common ground?? I need a pair for my cabinet. need some info before I hit up gamestop and look for these.. :burgerking:

Buy the new MadCatz Street Fighter IV Fightpad. All are common ground, and the triggers are already digital, no messing around with analog. Also, the contacts are gold, so you don't have anything to scrape.
-
HarumaN, I just sent you a PM with info on a purchase I want to make.
-
Wow, been out of the game too long, lol.
About a week ago I picked up a modded XBOX Classic (NOT 360) loaded with a pile of emu's and such. One of the emu's is CoinOPS showroom X. The thought of playing these with the old XBOX controller kills, so I've been searching for arcade sticks that are XBOX compatible. No dice, next thing I thought of was hacking an XBOX controller and hooking it up to an IPAC, stick, and buttons that I had laying around from an old arcade project I never finished. This is how I stumbled onto this thread.
Will I be able to use an 8 way control stick + IPAC + your XBOX controller hack to hook this up to the XBOX? I read elsewhere that there was something that prevented the XBOX from being able to reproduce control pad motions faithfully. Possibly the difference in throw from the XBOX controller and 8-way stick? Hope that isn't confusing.
If the above will work fine, do you see any issues with wiring a dedicated 4 way stick alongside the 8 way in this setup?
-
You don't need an iPac, only the controller hack. Also note that I don't hack the analog sticks, just the d-pad. I can hack the click buttons, though (where you press down the analog stick).
You can wire an 8-way to the d-pad no problem, and can wire a dedicated 4 way in, too. (Just don't use both at the same time, lol).

I'm building a MAME cab. Currently running a 360 controller on the PC...So if I send you a couple of these 360 controllers, the dongles you send back attached to the controller will hook into my arcade control sticks and buttons? Is that the deal? I'm sorry...New to this stuff.

Yes. I connect the controllers to terminal strips, which you then connect to your controls.
-
Just received my padhack :D Looks very solid - Can't wait to get this wired up tonight. Will post a few pics once I have done so.
Shipping time from the US to the UK was about 10 working days and was very well packed. No Customs charges on it either which was nice!

Does anyone have any examples to how they mounted these in a cabinet? I am getting two Dreamcast pads from HarumaN in a few weeks and want to prep the cab.
-
Is this possible at all with the PS3 Sixaxis controller? I know it's different then original PSX controllers since it uses a weird plastic like strip thing.

I've hacked a six-axis before, but its really hard. You're better off getting a toodles axisdapter,

I was looking into that. Though they seem to be hard to find.

I just wanted to give a quick shout out to HaRuMaN for the excellent work he did on the two dreamcast hack pads. I ordered them and in less then one week they arrived, the package was extremely well protected and the soldering job was excellent. He even glued over the solder connections to protect them from breaking off the pad. In my opinion he went above and beyond by making sure the connections were all labeled making it easy to connect the wires from my jamma fingerboard to the controller connections. Now I can finally get my shmupping on in my Blast City! Once again thanks HaRuMaN!!!!

Lol... I still get orders. I have expanded to other forums, too. Definitely not getting the number of orders I used to, though.
-
Ummmm the dress making comment was in regards to the 20+ spam posts advertising for dresses. Now that they are deleted, my post looks a little lame, it wasn't meant to be derogatory to ya :)
Anyhow I've got some heavily used wireless 360 controller's with the analog sticks worn out (permanency returning to down , not centered) and sticky buttons. That shouldn't matter at all, would it?- Thanks.

Do you do PS3 Controller Hacks? Don't see any mention of them. I'm planning to build a Showcase cab this spring with my modded PS3. Do you hack the controllers or do people use something else for PS3 controls?

People typically use the toodles axisdapter with a PS3 sixaxis controller. I can buy the kits and make them for you, and assemble the whole deal if you like.

Free Styrofoam peanuts with every order! ;D

Hello GinsuVictim saw a topic on gamefaqs about nes controllers that could play on an original xbox and he said your the man to talk to. I am just wondering what kinds of controllers can you do for the xbox to play with emulators? Thanks

You want the analog joystick or the D-pad? I can do both. Most DC games just use the D-pad.

Oh grand master of controller hacks, tell me, is there a wireless xbox controller - not 360 - which you hack and have on hand or can get? I didn't read through all 5 pages of thread to find out if this question has been asked already. I want to play around with a cheap xbox and this "newfangled" coinop thing that I'm reading about. Many thanks oh wise and great solderer.

Yes there is. I have some on hand, even.
-
Hi HaRuMaN
I have just read through the post, and you look like exactly what I need. However I need to understand why you say you dont hack analogue?
Is it because they are separatable from the main PCB and can be placed where I want already?
I need an xbox style USB controller hacking. Something like:
But I want access to both of the analogue pots to attach to a steering wheel and a gearstick and I also want both the analogue triggers intact to move elsewhere.
Sorry if this is a dumb question but yeah I want a hacked controller for the digital bits but I also want to move the analogue bits about 16 inches apart. Does this sound feasible or does the analogue bits become redundant on your hacked controllers?
Cheers,
Lins.
-
Hmmm this is a learning game isnt it. I think the rabbit hole goes much deeper heheh.
I think I now know the answer to my above question. Am I right in thinking the analog stuff (triggers and joypads) are fixed to the PCB and you cant remove it because of the complications involved with variable signals and return positions etc?
If that is the case, how about replacing the analogues with something like this:
http://www.sparkfun.com/products/9032 (http://www.sparkfun.com/products/9032)
Is it possible to link that in to say the above controller of mine and run it through the same USB interface? Or am I then going to hit major problems with the drivers for a PC?
Hmmmm, Sorry if I am hijacking your thread, please let me know and I'll stop asking on this one for advice.
Cheers,
L
-
As far as I know, no one has ever successfully connected a steering wheel or analog joystick to the pots.
You could relocate the analog sticks... probably not the triggers, though. I do hack the triggers so that they are digital.

Aaah sorry heheh. Location added.
So I think I could put up with digital triggers, but would you be able to help me relocate the analogue sticks? Put them onto 20cm or 30cm wires so I can place them where I need to?
Cheers,
L

Superb! Thank you so much for your help.
Because I am wanting to use the Raspberry Pi for this due to my size restrictions I just want to wait a couple more weeks until it comes out so I can confirm what joypads have support for it immediately then I will be putting in an order.
Cheers again,
Lins.
-
Yeah I could do that...
Excellent. May have some business with you as well, then.
While we're on the subject of controls, does anybody know how the windows driver handles the hacked triggers. Does it still try to treat them as one axis?

Hello, I'm new here, so I can't pm yet.
I'm making a MAME/ xbox 360 arcade cab. I would like to know how much you are asking for 2 of the wired madcatz controller hacks. Shipping would be to Ontario, Canada. I don't have the controllers to send you, so please include them in the price. ( I'm assuming the madcatz controllers work on pc with the drivers installed, like an official controller?)
Thanks.

Heya Haruman
Just received my new Vewlix L...keen to get some custom work done (similar to your recent pic) - 2 wired 360 controllers with vewlix connectors and maybe some other bits and pieces (would love it if you were interested in working up some sort of switching solution as well, so that i could make my cabinet more non-fuss-multifunctional in future) - to be sent to Australia.
Not sure how many posts I need to make before I can PM? I don't seem able to click on profiles.

First off, I would like to say that I am amazed by your work. Your posts have inspired me to finally attempt a Dualshock 3 padhack I've been considering for a few months.
I am a little bit lost, however, as to how to get started, and I have a few questions regarding how you personally perform your padhacks. If you wouldn't mind my picking your brain, please PM me.

If the guts are like these:
Then I wouldn't touch it. PCB is flakey and triggers are a pain (need transistors & resistor to get them working).
I honestly don't know, though, I have never seen one in person.

If it's not too late... Was hoping to get in an order of two (wired) PS2 hacks, and possibly 1 (wired) 360. I don't have any extras to send, so are these in stock? This could really help out, so I don't spend all my time perfecting my sketchy soldering skills :embarassed: , and can concentrate on some woodworking and design.
If possible, let's leave the analog sticks mechanisms intact and functional. I/ve been wanting to experiment with some physical mods of an on board analog. Yet, would still like some leads from the D-pads. Not worried about L3 or R3 clicks though.
Congrats to you  I feel for you on the whole sleep thing. My little one is almost a year ;D

Thanks!

I have never seen that type of controller so I can't comment. If you want something that for sure works out the box, then I would go with an iPac.

This is a dumb question, is any loos of performance with the hack?

Are the Madcatz FightPad SD the same as the older ones? If so they have $20 off at Madcatz. Comes out to $20 each with 9$ total on shipping even with multiple controllers. Seems like an ok deal if you don't ebay.

I have never tried the SD ones... I'm guessing they are the same inside, but can't confirm that.
As far as PS3, I don't know. Never tried that one. They are wireless, and use a dongle. You'd be better off using a six-axis controller to take advantage of the bluetooth / usb wired.

Just registered for this section :p

Queue now at zero. Get your order in and be first in line.
I've got 5 macatz fightpads on hand, so anyone looking for some wired 360 hacks this would be a good time to order for a quick turnaround.

Could i get a PM? i have a few questions about these hacks... im working on trying to get every single console controller hooked up to a pc.
Thanks

Not sure if you got my email but i sent one

Hey HaRuMaN, congrats on the baby! Hopefully one day my wife and I will be able to have kids.
Have you ever hacked a Classic Controller Pro for the Wii? I don't need the analogs, just the digital buttons. I had a few questions for a project I'm working on. I want to stuff a Wii Remote's guts into the CCP shell and I can't seem to find any info online on what the possible solder points are on the Classic Controller (Pro). Particularly how do you solder where the tact switches are (home, -, +, sync).
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Thanks! No, I have never hacked the classic controller pro. I had someone ask me about one not too long ago, but it never materialized, so I never did it. If you decide to open one up, take some hi-res pictures of the pcb, and I should be able to help you.

Do you scrape or do anything to the Madcatz contacts at all before you solder? I thought there was a "How to" somewhere but I can't seem to find it.

Nope, the madcatz you don't have to do that.

My first order of the original XBOX controller hack was perfect! PMed you just now for a couple more! Hope all is well. QUALITY PRODUCT!!!

Did you ever try a PS3 Madcatz hack? I think they should be the same. They have them for $15 shipped, the xbox 360 ones were OOS.

HaRuMan, here is a pic of the Classic Controller Pro PCB.
How much would you charge me to solder wires onto all of the buttons and d-pad? I don't need the analog sticks. I also don't need the other end of the wires connected to anything. I will solder them onto my Wii Remote myself. The only thing I would require is that they are soldered in a way as to where the controller can be reassembled all of the buttons and d-pad would still be usable, and it would LOOK normal from the outside. Thanks.

That would be pretty difficult to do...
What exactly are you trying to accomplish here?
Also, I'm not seeing a picture...
-
Sorry, thought I had the picture in there. I fixed the above post now. I want to put the Wii Remote inside of the CCP shell along with the CCP pcb itself so I can have both a "wireless" classic controller, along with the option of using the CCP buttons to control a wii remote only game.
-
Sorry, thought I had the picture in there. I added it, but that's the best way I can add it now, since my work blocks MOST sites that have the word "game" in them. I want to put the Wii Remote inside of the CCP shell along with the CCP pcb itself so I can have both a "wireless" classic controller, along with the option of using the CCP buttons to control a wii remote only game.
Ahh. Pretty sure that's beyond my capabilities. Sorry man. :-\
-
Hey that's cool. I'll give it a go myself. Now that the pic is finally there, can you give me any pointers as to where I would need to solder? I'm guessing I can just scrape some copper from the dpad and abxy buttons, but I'm not sure how to do that safely. The biggest concern for me though, what method can I try to solder to the -,+ and home buttons in the middle?
-
I can't see the picture (blocked @ work). However, if the contacts are copper, you don't need to scrape, just solder.
As for the +/-/home buttons, if they are the tactile switches, you just need to find the correct leg to solder to (should be 4 legs, 2 are ground, 2 are signal).
I am working on a pair Wii U Pro controllers right now, and have mapped out those PCB's, that's how I'm handling the tactile switches.

Yeah, what he's asking for is more along the lines of something Ben Heck would be doing... and I'm just not there.

I will be modding a Street fighter 15th anniversary stick to use on 360 so ill be needing a hacked controller. Im in Australia so im guessing it would be a ---smurfette--- to send you a controller have you hack it and send it back so can you let me know how much it would cost for you to supply the controller, hack it and post it to Australia?

Are you still using the Mad Catz pads for 360? I can't find them for a reasonable price anywhere. Is there any way to do do a simultaneous PC and 360 control setup? I've heard that some use KVM switches, but have also heard about the common ground issues.

I am still using the Mad Catz Fightpad or Brawlpad for 360, I watch for deals & on eBay.
Yes, you can use a KVM to switch for PC / 360. With the Fightpad / Brawlpad, they are completely common ground, so no issues at all.

As far as I know, they do. From what I understand they just shrunk the controller size a small amount, the PCB inside should be the same.

If one was to supply N64 controllers for this service, it wouldn't matter if the analog sticks worked or not, would it?

No, probably not.
-
Thanks. N64 is about the only 32 bit and up system without a PS2 to "something" controller adapter.
Well, except Wii U (if the game only supports Wii U Gamepad and or Pro Controllers). Oh my, I would never want to hack a probably around $100 GamePad just to play Wii U Arkham City with an arcade joystick. (Which would suck with arcade controls anyway).
The only Wii U game now that I MUST have in a cab is Tekken Tag 2 Wii U Edition. At least that game supports original Wii Classic Controllers.

I actually asked him a similar question, as seen below, but I was trying to make a GOOD version of the Interworks Pro Controller that is basically a Wii Remote shoved inside of a Classic Controller that looks like a Pro Controller. But yeah, pro controller compatibilty would be nice too! He said to post hi-res pics of the pcb and he should be able to help, as he never worked on Wii (U) controllers before.
I did post a pic I found online, but he couldn't see it and I think it's deleted now. Anyway, I forgot about my project until just now and maybe you can post a hi res pic of the pcb(s) so he can help both of us.

Hi
I'm interested to buy xbox hack controler and connect to my existing control panel I-pack .
Do you think is possible to connect just the wires to I-pack or do I need something more .
Thanks
-
Can I possibly get those solder points?
-
I was hoping you could help.
I gotta SFIV Fight Pad & wired it up exactly the same as your one but when I go into windows/control panel to test I get no lights or diagonal presses, as so I touch one button to ground I get this (see bellow), also it acts daft on the 360 console also?
Any ideas

Not too sure from the picture... check your soldering at the buttons, see if there is a solder blob that crosses over.
Also, check the back of the pcb for a tiny black slide switch. Make sure that is in the center.
-
There is a possibility you may have fried the board too.
I've had a few hacks burn-out on me, mainly because I applied too much heat too close to some of the more volatile components.

True. While I haven't done that to a fight pad, I have done that to a couple of wireless controllers. :banghead:

Bumping an old thread here.
I first want to say that HaRuMaN's work is top notch and I have used his Xbox 360 mods in my cabinet and they work great!
Has anybody accomplished a dual setup using an ipac to a PC with the 360 controls wired in at the same time?

Yes. It has been done, well, close to what you want:

I am in the process of doing the same. I was hoping just a USB Y-Adapter and KVM Switch would do the trick. Jury is still out.
I'm wrapping up the cab then will be diving into the wiring in the next week or so.
Please keep me posted if you make progress.

Thanks for the link!

Hey HaRuMaN!
Just a suggestion - on your XBox360 MadCatz Hacks - maybe consider wiring out the Turbo Button, as well as offering an option to wire out the Left Stick - Directional Pad - Right Stick switch as well.
...if I had the option - I would have went for it!

Hey there Haruman...
Was wondering if you hack the new Xbox One controllers yet? (They now work with PCs with an official Microsoft driver - Wired only).
I'm thinking you can hack something like this (cheaper but smaller):
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/power-a-mini-pro-ex-controller-for-xbox-one/8685212.p?id=1219359701998&skuId=8685212 (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/power-a-mini-pro-ex-controller-for-xbox-one/8685212.p?id=1219359701998&skuId=8685212)
Thoughts?

Anywhot if you can, I really like the way you wire the joystick up to a barrier strip. It looks so clean how you've done it. If you do, I'd definitely be interested in buying some.

Oh that's perfect

Cool. Well I'll be hoovering around the forums, so feel free to message me anytime.
And even if it isn't this particular PS3/PS4 stick you mod, if you offer any PS4 padhacks, let me know. I'd definitely like to know more.
Thanks!

So just checking in, are you able to do Xbox One and PS4 Padhacks?

I'm a total noob to modding controllers. I thought the pcb I'm gonna (Ipac 2) buy would allow me to map the console controller buttons to the buttons on my cab? Is that not the case? Just trying to figure out what the benefit of doing this is. Also, can someone explain the whole analog vs digital controller aspect? I see people have been asking for digital ability in here. Just want to make sure I get it and if I need to do this, I can get it done now.
Thanks in advance...

So this would be for adding an actual game console to a cabinet (or building a controller for a console).
For example, if I hack a Dreamcast controller, it connects to the buttons / joystick on the one end, and to a Dreamcast on the other end with the normal plug.
-
Thank you. I get it now.

Hi HaRuMaN.
I was just scrolling through this thread, with a question in mind, that I got partially answered, as it seem. Anyhow... I am actually trying to get into that whole soldering controllers to arcade buttons and so on myself. Not to sell, but only for me. So yeah.. I am a total beginner at this :)
The question I had was, if it was possible to turn analog sticks into digital signals and then use an arcade stick. Of course, one would lose the 'analog' part of the stick, but that would not be an issue for me. I would still love to be able to use an arcade joystick as an input for that once analog stick.
I am planing to do it with a gamecube controller. Do you have any experience with those? I don't think I have seen you selling those.
Or wont it work, because of that potentiometer thing, where you can't tell the thing how it is centered, or something?
Sorry, if this is a stupid question.
-
Well, I guess I came to late to the party. Since this thread seems pretty much dead and Haruman doesn't seem to respond to my pm, I suppose he doesn't offer his services anymore.
Are there other guys on here, maybe still selling hacked controllers? Thanks for letting me know.
-
Sorry about that. I haven't really looked at gamecube controllers much. Theoretically, it should work...
-
Hi there Haruman. This time, I was gone for a couple days, but anyways... I would be interested in buying two hacked Gamecube controllers from you, with the two analog sticks also hacked, if this would be possible.
Since I live in germany, it wouldn't be economicaly viable for me to send you two Gamecube controllers. Do you think you could get two from ebay? Or maybe you even happen to have two of those lying around.
I would of course pay you the costs of these controllers, plus the time for your work you would be doing on those.
-
Soooo... I am still very much interested in buying two hacked Gamecube controllers from you, Haruman, but we don't seem to be getting somewhere, which is unfortunately :/
Are you no longer offering your services, or are you just too busy with other stuff? I really don't aim, to be mean or anything... just wished to have kind of an update, on the hacked controller situation.
It's ok, if you don't offer your services anymore. Was kinda late for the party anyway. Just would have loved to get two of those GC ones.
-
Sorry about that. You wanted the analog stick hacked as well?
-
Yes, please :) all the button inputs, plus both of the analog sticks, converted to digital input (obviously).
With the L+R shoulder buttons, I guess there is only the possibility for the all-to-the-max button press.
In contrast to most other controller L+R Buttons, the gamecube ones where kinda 'special' in that they allowed to be pressed all the way down, meaning, in some cases, another kind of input. So, let me try to explain this: when you push down on a gamecube L or R shoulder button, close to the maximum, you will feel a little bit more resistance. But when you also push down even harder, then the controller registers this. For example: pressing the R button down, until you feel the resistance in Metroid Prime lets you strafe, but when you push it all the way down, you lock on onto targets. Similar thing in Luigis Mansion: when you push the L Button down until you feel the resistance, Luigis vacuum just blows out fire, but when pushed all the way down, it kinda spits a ball of fire.
I have no clue, if it would even be possible, when hacking a gamecube controller, to maintain that distinction, so that the L button would become 2 arcade buttons, as well as the R button, or if it is only possible to make it, so that the button would be pressed all the way down to the max.
If it is possible, to maintain these two functions of both, the L+R buttons, then I would of course prefer it, but it would also be ok, if just the 'pressed-all-the-way-to-the-max'-function would be possible. Still better, than not being able to use the L+R buttons at all.
-
Hey Haruman, if you're still doing these hacks I'd love to get a pair of Madcatz Dreamcast controllers done up. What would be the price for two? I don't have the controllers yet, but I could order them shipped to your address and we can go from there. Thanks in advance!

$40 each, you send the controllers. They need to be official DC controllers, DOL-003

Are you able to hack a PS3 dualshock3 controller? I just need the PS button to work to boot the PS3...
-
Are you asking for JUST the PS button, or all the buttons including the PS button?
-
it's for a driving cab, I have a logitech wheel and the PS button can't boot the PS3. So i was planning to hack a PS3 dualshcok 3 only to have the PS button to boot my PS3 inside my cab. So just the PS button who can boot the PS3
-
Oh yeah that should be pretty easy to do.

Hey HaRuMaN, 04SRT5 linked me to this thread.
Are you able to mod a wii classic controller? If so, how much would that cost me (not including controller, which I have) thanks

I was just using that controller last night, by coincedence. The sticks and the shoulder buttons are all analog.

Hey there, yes I still do that (assuming all you need is the controllers hacked). I don't wire them up to the AMP connectors any more.
Let me know.
Thanks!

Hello.
By chance do you still make Dreamcast Padhacks? Very interested.

Hi, curious if you are able to do SNES Classic controller hacks. I have an empty cabinet and I wanna stuff my SNES Classic in there but use the arcade machine buttons and joysticks. Brand new to how to use the forums or I would have PM you. Thanks!

Let me look into those controllers...

Awesome, hit me back if you think it's doable and I'll ship you 2 plus what you decide the job will cost! Thanks for looking into it.

I think I found a solution. Hyperkin makes an adapter for the SNES Classic that allows you to plug a old school Super Nintendo controller in and use it on the SNES Classic! I'm thinking I could order a couple of your regular SNES controller hacks and just use the adapter to plug them into the Classic. Sound like a feasible idea?

Yes, that would work!

Could you message me. I don't know if it's because it's a new account or if I'm just unable to figure out how to send a message to a specific person. Thanks HaRuMaN
