Hmmm...interesting.

How dark/menacing can you make your characters (something like akuma from street fighter)?

I have a basic idea of what I want but at the same time I really like the art on the el mechanico cab.

Oops, I didn't get a chance to reply to this one. I can go pretty dark/menacing, the World of Warcraft Orc picture I posted is along those lines, but I can easily go further with the "darkness". The El Mechanico cab is more along the lines of mischievous/playful darkness, again I could have pushed that one further but being that it was for my employer I wanted to keep it PG13 :)
Also, for El Mechanico, I was on a time budget because we were still in the middle of "crunch-time" when I was working on this cabinet. I would have liked to spend a bit more time on it to spruce the shading and colours up a bit. Now that I'm in-between work projects, I've got more time for other things. Hence the Canucks Cocktail (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=97158.0) I'm working on.

Figured I should bump for the influx of new members that have contacted me for artwork.

PM me if you're interested!

I'll be finishing up another commission in the next week or so.

I can only work on 3 at a time, I've got 2 in progress right now, so a slot will be opening up to fit in a third very soon.

PM me if you're looking for custom artwork!

Looks like I'm full up! I'll post when I'm open for business again. :)

Are you good at replicating side art exactly like the original?
I just bought a flat bed scanner but am waiting on a new laptop to come in the mail. So I can get the scans for you but the only thing that would need done is fixing scratches and gouges and ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---. Just little things.
Hit me up if so.
Peace

Yeah, I can trace scans. That's easy stuff. What I usually get commissioned for is custom artwork, where I work with you to create unique artwork.

Your artwork is very good! I am after a simple control panel design as I have plain black buttons/joystick with white buttons on the top row for:
P1 Start    P1 Coin                             Pause   Enter                          P2 Coin   P2 Start

the problem is people dont know what button does what! I am after something really simple, crisp and clean to suit my cab and wondered what your thoughts were on ideas and how much to knock something up??

I've attached one pic of my cab and be interested to hear what you think? Can do this over PM if you want and can send other pics if needed

Cheers

Well, I'm full up on projects right now (I can only handle 3 at a time, as this is something I do on the side of my full-time job). But I should be ready for new commissions in about a month's time. So if you're not in a rush, PM me and we can talk about the details more.

Just did some reading, I didn't realize Poison was turned into a tranny in her later designs!
I based this design off the original Final Fight arcade game, using a pose from one of Poison's japanese toy figures. But damn, she's now a Chick with  D :censored:! The world is crazy.

Yeah, great take on Major Havok, looks like I'd expect him from that angle.

I was always thinking I was going to do all the art for my cab myself. Now I'm thinking I might have to consider other options. :)

Finished up a quick commission recently. A fellow member wanted an image of Major Havok from the front, running towards the viewer, in the style of the original side-art:

CLOSED

Until further notice, I'm not taking any new commissions for the next little while until I can finish up current art commissions and projects.
It's also been a while since I've updated my demo reel and portfolio, and I've been considering a career change, so I'll be concentrating on that before the end of this year.

I will open back up when I can free up my schedule.

Thanks.

I've recruited a good artist friend of mine, who has graciously offered his services to take some of the work-load from my hands while I work on my personal projects.
So now we're rockin' two artists strong!

BitterP is a good buddy of mine, that has been an conceptual artist for 15+ years, and has amazing art-chops in illustration!

First post updated.

Finally got tired of people telling me to start a blog for my artwork.

http://the-artcade.blogspot.ca/ (http://the-artcade.blogspot.ca/)

I'm going to try to keep it as up-to-date as possible.
It's rudimentary looking right now, but it fits it's purpose. I'll work on the layout later...

Your portfolio are superb.I have a image design art work which i designed from a local designer but now i need that image in vector form in illustrator.Do you use illustrator? can you convert that image in vector form?
Thanks!  :D
Yep, I'm very familiar with Illustrator.

I hate to turn away work, but I've got a waiting list right now for scratch-built stuff, so you'd probably end up waiting for it a while. There are a few people here that are familiar with vectors, my advice is to post a feeler thread on the forum and see if someone can help.

I think I've seen artwork either done by you (or inspired by you) on eBay.
Some cool sideart that features a girl playing on an arcade cabinet.

Interesting...I never put anything on ebay regarding my artwork. Got a link? Not that I'm miffed or anything, just want to see how they interpreted it.
I got my idea from the Spares and Strikes pinball game.

I just want to give a shout-out to my man Opt2not and his partner BitterP.  They've been working on my Battletoads artwork and I must say it came out looking great.  It will be awhile before I can get them printed due to recent happenings with our house (a rather messy water leak, etc, etc.)  but the work they did looks great.  It might seem expensive especially if you get sideart, marquee, and control panel combined, but trust me on this, it is worth it.

You can see a sample of it in the first post of this thread.

I would like to add to my last post that not only are these two guys great to work with but they also go, what I would consider, above and beyond when it comes to customer service.

After I posted the artwork in my build thread (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,112500.0.html) one of the comments left was that it appears that the artwork on the marquee was shifted slightly to the left.  Personally I would have never caught this as it was slight but without me having to mention it Opt2not fixed the issue and sent me an updated file.  That in itself would make me go back to them in a heartbeat for any future artwork needs.  Thanks man.

Yeah, we might re-evaluate coming back in the late fall, but we both have some personal stuff to develop that is going to take a bunch of months. This is stuff that needs to be focused on, for us to really move forward in our skills and careers. There just ain't enough time in the day!

We've got a spot or two open for the next few months for some new art commissions.

Just curious about costs -- how much does one usually charge for custom work?  I've got a theme with a few pictures in mind (not married to anything, just what I was able to stumble across), and just need something for the marquee, cp, and some mid-sized pictures on the sides (not a full wrap... maybe something the size of the "neon mame" side cut out).

Before I really talk to much with anyone though, I want to get an idea whether this is $50 work, or $500 work... I really have no clue but don't want to waste anyone's time.  Any thoughts?

PM sent to you.

Whatever the case, for those looking for more explanation about high-priced custom work (not photochopped from online images) please check out my FAQ/Rant thread: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,132523.msg1361696.html#msg1361696 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,132523.msg1361696.html#msg1361696)

Sounded like you were looking for something much cheaper than what I offer.  I hope you went with SNAAKE or Mike Boss, both guys are excellent choices for the price point and scope you're looking for. I highly recommend them.

Rick where and when did you get your logo?  Looks hilariously awesome. The igloo is a nice touch, I'm assuming someone States-side did it because I don't know any Canadians that think about igloos as a iconic Canada theme. :lol

And don't I owe you some car decals still?  What's going on with that, need them anytime soon?

I actually reached out to CrowdSPRING (http://www.crowdspring.com/logo-design/project/2378233_eight-bit-stylized-logo-required-for-classic-arcade-and-pinball-themed-company/#) for the logo. The winning designer was actually from Indonesia. As soon as he came up with this design, which was about 3/4 of the way through the contest, I knew this one was a winner. It is beautifully amusing.

I'm game if you are! I don't need them quickly, if you have other things that you're working on.

I was wondering if you would be interested in creating a custom marquee for a machine I am building? It is under "Custom WWF Wrestlefest/Supertars build" in the artwork section. I designed one and I don't feel it fits the machine now as the side art and control panel are already designed and installed. Let me know your thoughts. Thank you!

Getting as much use out of this as I can. I've gotten a TON of complements on the logo man. Thanks again!
